    I just right click the computer, then go to Control>Redeploy. We've been having Control flake out and need to use this method fairly often lately. Would be great if there were an Automate script that could tell when the device is online, but Control is unavailable to just automatically redeploy. I've yet to find a downside to using redeploy, so even if it catches some it didn't need to redeploy, it shouldn't hurt anything.

    • @ProValTechnologiesInc
      @ProValTechnologiesInc Před 5 měsíci

      Hey there, Here are a few suggestions: 1) You should make sure there are not other conflicting backups occurring, that can lock VSS writers and cause that kind of issue. 2) Use your RMM to monitor VSS writer health 3) Regular Reboots of the server - probably weekly would be ideal to keep things healthy with the VSS writers 4) Verify using a Services Account on the Guest VM to ensure that it is not a password issue for the guest processing that could be causing part of the issue Hope this helps! - ProVal Tech

    • @ProValTechnologiesInc
      @ProValTechnologiesInc Před 8 měsíci

      Hi there, Thanks for reaching out. There are a few things that can cause issues with the control center. The primary items are AV related - have you ensured that you have the proper exclusions enabled: docs.connectwise.com/ConnectWise_Automate_Documentation/060/040/010 Or it could be permissions, this article may help: docs.connectwise.com/ConnectWise_Automate_Documentation/020/020 We always recommend removing the local cache (%programdata%\LabTech Client), uninstalling, and then installing as admin on the device. Also please ensure that you run the control center as admin as well. Here is the open knowledge base article related to this issue: connectwise20.my.site.com/serviceandsupport/s/article/Automate-Control-Center-keeps-crashing-every-few-hours Sorry we do not have a great solution for this, but please follow some of these steps to see if it increases stability for you. Hi I want to restrict which sessions logged in users can access. If the machine name is computer1, only someone who logs in with the username computer1 can access the machine. GuestMachineName = '$USERNAME' I tried but it didn't work. Can you help me?

    • @ProValTechnologiesInc
      @ProValTechnologiesInc Před 8 měsíci

      Hi Canerserbest512 Thanks for your question! We've setup something similar to this before, however we do not recommend using the name of the computer. We typically use one of the other properties available that are not in use currently. We rename it to something like "machine access" or "my devices" or something along those lines. In that field, we'll add the email address of the user that can access that device. (It can be comma separated I believe.) And then when you setup the session group, you set the session group to only show devices that have that matching email address. That way they can see the devices quite easily. It essentially mirrors the setup generated by the remote workforce extension. That also would likely help you solve your issue. This guide from ConnectWise should help you get started with remote workforce - docs.connectwise.com/ConnectWise_ScreenConnect_Documentation/Get_started/Remote_Workforce_hub/Remote_Workforce_user_guide Hope this helps!

    I see how to set a custom field.. how do we "read" or "get" the value in a custom field?

    • @ProValTechnologiesInc
      @ProValTechnologiesInc Před 8 měsíci

      Hi @ChrisMoffatt7687 - great question! To view the data, navigate to the specific device, and head over to the Custom Fields tab. The custom field output, so long as the field has been updated, will be visible there. To interact with that data inside of a script, you’ll need to use the task function called “Set Pre-defined Variable.” When you use that function you’ll see in the editor two options, one for a System Variable, and one for a Custom Field. You’ll need to select custom field, select your field, and then the script will store that data in whatever you call the variable. Here is a screenshot: i.imgur.com/Lys9qga.png We’ll add this to our list of video ideas! Thank you for watching!

So for example if the drive has 7% remaining and it changes to 5% the first ticket is closed and another ticket is opened, which makes it really hard to monitor. Do you have any idea how to keep the initial ticket open and only have it closed when the drive is over 10% free space? Thanks in advance.

I had a chat with a Connectwise rep and he said to restart the DB agent when making such changes to ensure they are pushed out to the envt. Does that sound correct? Seems off to me. • @ProValTechnologiesInc
      @ProValTechnologiesInc Před 11 měsíci

      Thanks for your question! On the machines in question, you might need to check the effective patching policy on the devices and ensure the device isn't getting policies applied from any other groups. To check this, please go into the patch manager, go to the Device tab (Upper left monitor shaped icon). Find an example machine or two. Click on the device, that should populate the lower patch information window. On the left of the lower pane, you should see a "Groups" option. This will be that devices effective patching policy. You should be able to see any patch policy applied to that device. It could be getting the settings from another group. We do often see partners applying Microsoft Update Policies to the "Approvals - XXXX" groups and that can cause confusion. Please check the effective policy on the devices and see if the settings are being applied from something else. - ProVal Tech

    What's the difference between "Reinstall" and "Redeploy"?

    • @ProValTechnologiesInc
      @ProValTechnologiesInc Před rokem

      Hi Dylan, thanks for your question! It’s not always been 100% clear to us as well. We’ve found that the reinstall command attempts to uninstall and then install CW Control on the end point. This should be used if CW Control is not installed properly on the endpoint. The Redeploy command performs a check against CW Control to see if the agent exists in the CW Control Portal and if it doesn’t, will then reach down to the endpoint to see if the CW Control software is deployed on the agent. If Control is found on the endpoint it will gather the GUID and put the value in the database essentially re-linking the Control and Automate agents together for easy connections from Automate. We usually have our partners attempt the redeploy first, and if that doesn’t work, then attempt the reinstall. I hope this helps! Thank you, ProVal
