nice work mate! I've been watching from episode 1 and I'm excited to see the finished product. any plans to offer these for us non DIY blokes?
@@kaesh78 Hey mate. Talking to someone at the moment with regard to making kits available. The issue is the time. The control box is the easiest part to make. The wiring and the plumbing takes forever. Bumps the cost up massively. Anyway, watch this space. 👍
Any oil drips so far?
Not one, and also no junk in the oil. Havn`t had the sump off to look at the pickup though.
What do you think it’s better the perro has steering lock down of this?
I didn’t do any research on the Perrin set up so I cannot tell you which is better. I can say this one works compared to the standard set up which moves around A LOT.
@@blackdogmotorsport3784 ohh I see thanks 🙏 keep the hard work I love your videos.
Another great video - i will be under taking this mod in 1 days time
Would the KillerBee oil pickup work with this?
I’m not sure, I use the standard pickup with no issues. (So Far Anyway)
Do you recommend lightweight pulley in the GT86,?
Honestly not really. I you are tracking the car and combining it with other mods like a lightened flywheel then sure, otherwise I wouldn't bother, not in a road car anyway.
Cool vid. And good on the bmw driver for letting you go ahead on the straight on the last lap.. clearly you had the pace around them bends!!
The Mca traction mod worth getting ?
In my opinion it certainly is. Yet to find anyone who disagrees however that doesn’t mean there are none. I rate it and recommend it. (#notsponsored) 👍
Poor bmw lol
Using the second pump to pump the fuel to the part of the tank where the first pump is?
I may do, I haven't got that far yet. Ideally i would like both pumps to pump into a small manifold fitted with non-return valves so which ever pump has the fuel will supply the engine and not back feed into the output of the cavitating pump, but we will see. waiting on a component to finish the control bow at the moment.
Am purchasing this mod next month or maybe this month. This mod seems a worthy upgrade for the money.
I really like it. Firms the rear of the car up more than I thought it would. I would consider doing the Diff as well when the budget allows.
@@blackdogmotorsport3784 Ordering the diff bushing now. Currently building a street/Track car that's will sport a Supercharger setup
@@blackdogmotorsport3784 Just did this mod it's a decent mod indeed. Also the diff bushings are inbound.. and also my Superchager kit
@@esko23q 👍
You are 100% correct my friend. The word "harmonic balancer" has been used in place of crank pulley's for so long, we believed it. Thanks for the Video. There is another video from Heeltoes channel that also confirms what you are saying. czcams.com/video/Vo2g7544Fz8/video.html
You have no idea what you’re talking about. There is a rubber layer between the hub and outer ring. This allows the hub and outer ring to move separately, very small movement however. Which makes it a harmonic damper. A pulley is one solid piece.
Yea, you may want to do some research on that buddy. He's 100% right. Please see the attached video czcams.com/video/Vo2g7544Fz8/video.html
@@rasgum7 - a salesman trying to sell you his products can be very convincing. I know what teams of engineers at oem manufacturers do and how much they spend. If they could use a cheaper part they would period. czcams.com/video/J1BGsgIZ_Ek/video.html
@@rasgum7 - have you done your research buddy? Who are you going to trust? A guy from a company that probably doesn’t exist anymore, trying to sell you a part with 5x markup that anyone can make? Or the industry leader that is approached by the best engine builders in the world and asked to build a product?
@@rasgum7 Your attached video link is a good one in the sense that it states that it all depends on the type of engine you have.
Massively enjoying this series. Fuel starvation is a nightmare in these cars - you are doing gods work!
Gods work may pushing it just a tad, and you are right, is a nightmare
Hi Mark Did you consider using the Verus Engineering fuel starvation door to mitigate the fuel surge issue?
Yes I did install one, and while it did delay the onset slightly, it was pretty ineffective unfortunately.
Why would you even post this with the title you have? Nothing was installed here lol.
so now that you've had this done a while, do you think they are worth it? is the advertised +19HP accurate as far as you can tell?
It,s a bit hard for me to say as i did a whole lot of other stuff at the same time. I would say yes, but that could be the placebo effect. I would question the 19HP though, however I cannot rule it out definitively.
@@blackdogmotorsport3784 yeah, I hear you there. their dyno numbers are most likely in "perfect" test conditions. I'd say though, even if it nets you only say 10 hp I think its still worth the few extra ponys for the amount spent. we all know these cars need as much help in the HP department as it can get especially if you arent going to go forced induction. Id love to but Id like to see how far I can reliably make power without wearing down the life of the motor. THANKS!
I installed mine last year. I felt the increase in torque from low rpms like I had installed a header. When I finally installed my header, I barely felt it because the Power Blocks filled up alot of the torque dip. I'm also running OFT Tune.
With the install since i have a 2013 Zenki 86gts i don't have the breather there at the back where you put that blue extension breather hose. So i don't need to do that part then ??
That’s a breather, so you Cain’t blank it off, although there is no requirement other than emission laws that says you have have to pipe it to the inlet manifold.
@@blackdogmotorsport3784 2013 one doesn't see to have it i can email you a picture if need be. I would otherwise just plumb it in.
About to do the install for this .. how long have you been running these pulleys now and any issues ? I am a little hesitant about the crank pulley install.
I have been running this Pulley for about 12 months with no issues. ( As at June 2022). 👍
We have use light weight 6061 underdrive pulley on inline 4 honda for over 25ys and have Hondas with pulley well over 250k miles with no issues, I sell a lot of pulley kits since late 90’s and never have 1 vehicle’s engine fail due to light weight pulley, it’s always cold air intake hydrolock that damaged the engine. In-line 4, flat 4, flat 6, these 3 types of engine can run aftermarket pulley & it will free up alot of power…
I also want to add this, if you install high quality pulley kit like the one we sell for k-series honda, the engine will run smoother than oem, and have less vibrations than oem.
Any issue not connecting the bottom bolt for DI ECU? Read this is a ground.
No issue to date, or at least, none that I am aware of.
Am purchasing this kit also I think it came down to $150 delivered. Also, how did the installation of the pulleys go did they fit and have no issues?
No issues at all. I did remove the whole front of the car, you would not have to do that. I did it mainly for filming and I wanted to measure a few things for up coming mods. The hardest part would be undoing the pulley retaining bolt, be careful of the radiator.
@@blackdogmotorsport3784 The re torquing of the crank bolt I hear was 15 then 94 . Did it come with instructions? I'm going off the Perrin install for the crank bolt
@@esko23q No instructions that I remember. I had the kit for some time before fitting it. If in doubt ask Subaru for a torque setting. I used my calibrated right elbow and did it up to a torque of “FT”. (Which is Australian for “ F$&@ing Tight” ) 😬
@@blackdogmotorsport3784 I also use the expression she'll be right lol
Hey Blackdog , so even though the technical redline is 7400-7500, its actually better to shift up at 7200?
Hey Mate, my factory redline is 7200, I try and shift up just before it hits the limiter but i don't always get it right
@@blackdogmotorsport3784 Thanks Blackdog, I find your advice and videos very helpful. I've been watching your channel since I saw your video about Crank Pulleys. You make a point not many others make and yes if you take your car to the track / drive hard , it WILL reduce the lifespan and the goal of a track day is to race and make it home.
Nice. I was eyeing up some Crawford billet blocks, did you notice any kind of difference driving with those installed?
To be honest with you I didn't, or at least, not a massive improvement. Having said that though, there were other modifications fitted in between track visits, so while the car performed significantly better overall, it is difficult to attribute that improvement to the any particular mod. Would i buy it again, yes. But only if it was at the right price. A CKO (Cheap Knock Off), but not a genuine kit.
I have a 2018 BRZ with performance pack with about 54,000 miles, I haven't changed the brake fluid, In your opinion how much damage do you think I have done to my brakes?
If you haven’t flogged them on the track, probably not much if anything. Mind you, brake fluid is very hydroscopic, so check your owners manual, it should tell you when to change. I know my Harley Davidson has to changed every 2 years regardless of KM’s. Because I change mine so often in the BRZ, I have never actually checked the book to see.
@@blackdogmotorsport3784 Thank you for your prompt reply.

I have a BRZ and would like to know what brand of higher flow rate filter you use?
K&N 👍

Great video mate. Very worthwhile upgrade!
Took the car to Wakefield Park Thursday the 3rd of February for an open pit lane. I expected, and got, more rigidity and “feel” when cornering, but I honestly didn’t think it would be as good as it was. I really rate this Mod.
Have you tried the steering rack lock out? I highly recommend it, more feedback and no noticeable increase in vibration.
Sort Of, Changed the whole Bush. czcams.com/video/43ZdHhmcu_s/video.html
Nice video i am thinking of also doing this mod for my NA 86gt.. Did you find it was worth it ?
Yes, if you get the Cheap Knock off. At full retail, probably not.
@@blackdogmotorsport3784 $120 on eBay I thought that was cheap ?
@@esko23q $120.00 is the Cheap Knock Off. The genuine item on is over $500.00, and i don't think it's worth $500.00.
@@blackdogmotorsport3784 Thanks for the tips mate appreciate it
Thnks for the video,The whole that was drilled didn't match the screw of kit? There was no extension for ECU bolt in kit?
Didn't match the Cylinder head, it was drilled at an angle. No extension for the ECU Bolt
So nothing of the rear interior can be reinstalled, meaning this is a no compromise decision? Did you take the non fitment up with CGI for their response? Their jig must be out..
Yeah, it’s all or nothing as far as the rear interior goes, if you do order one, specify whether or not you will be leaving the Head liner in or not, as there are 2 types. As for the figment issue, I did contact AGI, on a number of occasions, and the eventual reply was ‘ yeah, those ones can pull a bit when taken off the jig’, quote end quote. So, yeah 🤷♂️
