The West Midlands Aikido Association is a non profit UK organisation based around the West Midlands it has been established since the 1980’s. We have our main headquarters dojo in Brownhills which is a permanent dojo & also have satellite dojos in Cheslyn Hay & Sutton Coldfield. Our club teaches strong basics, accuracy of technique, posture & movement before moving on to the more advanced forms, we also train regularly in Aiki Ken & Aiki Jo weapons work giving a solid foundation in Aikido. This is a traditional style of Aikido that is sometimes called Iwama Aikido by other Aikido practitioners.

Aikido is not about trading punches, it’s about controlling a situation at the first sign of conflict or even before that. A Martial art whose purpose is to train the spirit, mind & body following true budo.
We practice techniques against a variety of attacks such as kicks, punches, strikes, single-hand or two-hand grabs from the front or rear, chokes, multiple person attacks, & attacks with weapons. In all these attacks we strive to resolve the conflict in a non-lethal, non-disruptive, yet effective manner.
Aikido training is a martial art that is interesting and fun, physically challenging which will Increase mental concentration and stamina, Improve fitness and flexibility as well as long term health.
Aikido will also reduce your stress levels and teach you situational awareness and will develop skills and understanding to manage & avoid conflict & de-escalate by understanding body language & its body mechanics & angles.
•Aikido is equally suited to both women & men & children
•Aikido is not based on muscle mass, strength or aggression. Its clever principles of absorption & redirection are designed to neutralise an attack & keep one out of harm’s way.
•Aikido can be applied in everyday life if it be at work or your home life
