Welcome to 1MTSRiders channel. My channel is dedicated to trains, buses, trolleys and anything transit, mostly in California.
My bus videos are more recent from 2010 to current, and my train videos are from the late 80's to late 90's.
My hobby in transit is mostly buses now. Trains, by today's operation and standards, is a dead hobby to me. After experiencing one of the greatest eras in railroading (late 70s to mid 90s) today's stuff just doesn't compare, and is quite boring. I used to make 3-4 trips to Tehachapi every year, now I will probably never go again. Since I am not into todays trains, I have found my new hobby in buses. I now take trips to LA and other So Cal locations to capture buses and light rail transit.
*Update* Uploads now, as time allows, new HD camera takes more work and time to make clips.
Check out my videos, comment, like and sub if you enjoy.
Take care,
Kevin

Evening shots of Foothill Transit. Bus fan buddy Jake Fritz and myself were there to capture the dwindling Detroit Diesel Series 50Gs. Jake and I just finished riding one of our favorite buses, Omnitrans #0163 that evening. We were fortunate to arrive when we did for the evening captures. The best capture, is at 1:50. While stopped at the signal, the bus driver accelerated the 50G for us, then ...

2006 New Flyer C40LFR Cummins Westport C Gas Plus Allison B400R6 Nice bus ride on #4024. Allison seemed bit mouthy, especially shift into 6th as it would make a low quick whrrp or thrrp sound and had a low growl/grind sound, 3:40 as bus came to near stop. Also twice, MAN axles became painful to ears as the bus made good speed going north up Victoria Ave between Oxnard and Ventura, as there are ...

Just Crown'n Around, 6V92TA Nearly Out Performed By A V8
zhlédnutí 5KPřed 8 lety
The Detroit Diesel 6V92TA is nearly outplayed and showed up by a V8. At 0:05 the big muscle V8 accelerates and gets really loud and makes for big drama. It is amazing when it passes by the bus, surprise!!! Then after passing it continues to make its presence known and make its case for being the scene stealer in this video. Which do you think won the performance and best in sound?

At one time someone told me 1990 Gillig suburban 45ft F1063 was being preserved at Arcadia Yard as historic bus I don't know if it's still there. If it is that bus is around 30 years old. The 1000s were the first especially built for Los Angeles services. They ran on line 480 alot back in the 90s
OCTA 1997 New Flyer D40LF #5401 will retire to remove the blue “OCTA” logo, “Orange County Transportation Authority”, and all the Paint scheme on the exterior to make it blank at General Auction Company after that this fleet number of OCTA 1997 New Flyer D40LF unit will sold to LA Charter Bus Lines to drive around at LAX Airport.
I like those SP engines.
repowering them..and then retiring them...this just proves that California or any other blue state has too much money...
I'm sure the 1000s we called them the 10s are gone Most likely by now
I looked around some official documents and most of the gilligs, and 2006 NABIs were scrapped. Most of which had all their paint removed completely or the interiors were in very poor condition. The engines also were busted as well. The reason these Gilligs ended up in San Diego, is because they were used in a college's diesel tech program as test units I believe
Gillig Suburban to be exact F1050 one of 63 i believe 1995 or so used to be used on line 480 Montclair Transit center to Los Angeles Wilshire and Union St retired before being cut to west Covina Mall these buses are 20 years old now. Considering we now have 3100s we're Way past 1000
Hello! I'm making a short documentary about the MK SD40M-2 and I was thinking if I could use this footage in it? With full credit of course.
You need to call Ernie Lacario....best damn helper engineer i ever knowed! Give im 3 tunnel motors and he could pull the moon from orbit! Thanks Son for your recording on this!
And THAT is why the SP needed the tunnel motors…..and the reason why their engines were always filthy!
🕉️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏🕉️🙏
10 years later the 1100s would end up being retired and some are now in Santa Cruz
ужас в этом тоннеле совершенно нет системы вентиляции!
The colorful era of railroading.
3:39 There's a bloody full light package on the SD40R 7373! Almost no light packages remained by 96!
These poor engines having their guts open and in notch 8 for how many years? Love to wash one and see how clean I can get it
HOWLING EMD S !!!!
#6873 will never smell the same again !
Very impressive! And I like that the assistant Engineer is a Female. I like when the Ladies like and do whats normally thought of as a Mans occupation. Those engines just sing out power!
OOOOHHHHhhhhh ..Now THAT is the Southern Pacific Railroad !!!!
I just recreated this video using my Atlas Kodachrome U36C. I plan on modeling this era of Tehachapi as well as the modern day Tehachapi.
1:20 That is a unit like SP 7319, a victim of that shitty water-based paint.
0:52 - you can see smoke billowing out of the cab on that last unit. Must've been an absolutely awful working environment. Anyone have any experience in that situation? 2:25 - the side window is absolutely covered in soot! (unless it's trail only or something) Absolutely wild. This footage is fantastic! Were these oil trains particularly heavy?
SP 4449 shippers special the spirit that won the west special daylight
Up 8444 great steam trek
Up 8444 & sp 4449 cajon pass
I'm surprised there's not a locomotive or two at the rear pushing!
I miss the Cans! I wish I was born early enough to see them operate!
Rare GP20 in there! Love it!
We were THE most awesome railroad back in the 1980s and 90 until the merger. Our locos might have been dirty, but we slugged it out up the mountains and thru valleys carrying coal and oil. The good old days
You worked on sp?
SP was the most awesome railroad. I just purchased an SP SD45 at a train show and I think one of my next videos is going to be an Espee train through Tehachapi in the 1990s
I read in Diesel Era magazine how the Southern Pacific would order them new with all the bells and whistles but then run them into the ground. It got so bad that EMD had to threaten SP to void the warranties. But that is part of what made SP so interesting to me!
@@user-wu1ds2sz3w They did run those suckers into the ground. The SD45R I just purchased has grime all over it.
@@user-wu1ds2sz3wfalse, my mom worked at bay 6 at EMD. They would ship just as much if not more to other railways ....
I miss this classic bus
I used to work in downtown LA near the wilmington subdivision and the Oil cans would go by often. It is a one-of-kind oil train that had cars connected so they could be filled/emptied in groups.
Nothing that a few bottles of NOS couldn’t cure 😀😀😀
No train hoppers survived this.
I see light packages in the middle set...what year was this recorded?
Oh boy, that's an old blue Rock Island autorack. I didn't think any of those existed.
GP35s weren't all too common here, were they?
Dang, awesome train...Notice the literally just-installed ditch lights on the SD45R 7417
Those 4500 series Dash-9s might have left the roster with the recent lease-expiration...
Why is there UP power in there?
That is a lot of SD40M-2s. I need to pick some up...
That's a non-rebuilt SD45 you got there. Awesome!
Didn't know these had Thermo King A/C! Cool
bruh their even tunnel motors, long ass tunnel, slow train
❤
Wow!! So cool you captured this 🙌🏽😄
no wonder why Espee utilized the tunnel motors and the cab-forward steam locomotive design back in the day. Good grief- it certainly helps explain the nearly black of the locomotives after outshopping.
You don’t want to be a hobo on this one…
Does anyone know why the locomotives emit so much smoke inside the tunnel but immediatley stop when they exit?
The prime movers aren’t getting enough clean air in the tunnels .
lack of oxygen…fuel mixture starts to run rich
