Nasher Prize Dialogues: Public Figures
Join the New Museum and the Nasher Sculpture Center for a panel discussion exploring public art and monumental sculpture. At a time when both public art and the role of monuments are at the forefront of cultural discourse, artists Tania Bruguera, Hans Haacke, and Fred Wilson will discuss various critical approaches to these topics, including how their practices interrogate, or antagonize, the history and tradition of celebratory sculpture and representations of the human body within public space and institutions. This talk will be moderated by Massimiliano Gioni, Edlis Neeson Artistic Director of the New Museum.

i can´t hear sh*t.
This was so very inspiring! I met Dream Hampton a lifetime ago. She struck me then as someone I should know and she strikes me now as someone my daughter could learn from. Although, our meeting was incredibly brief, the power of her presence was felt. Good to see her on screen and I am going to view ALL of her work of art and history.

Claudia Rankine is one of the most grandiloquently overrated people in American life right now. Her writing has no there there. She speaks in an august voice about microaggressions. She is a bit like Kamala Harris with a marbled lofty tone and a less humorous immens self-regard.

he’s incredible~i found him on accident. i was at a cafe in chicago that sold books. i was browsing and found his book amongst so many others. i’m a photographer and i was so intrigued by the images of his work and i needed to buy it and research him. more people need to know of him, his work, his story, everything. he’s truly amazing.

Sería bueno saber cuál es el origen del mito sobre Lilit al que se refiere Wynnie, ¿es algún manuscrito en hebreo o en arameo, o en griego o latín?, ¿es antigua --qué tan antigua? Una cosa es la mitología antigua, propia de la religión judía (si es que está en los manuscritos de algún documento histórico) y otra pensar la mitología al estilo de Roland Barthes, esto es, las nuevas mitologías creadas por la cultura masificada. Es un detalle técnico, por su puesto, que no afecta directamente al trabajo creativo de la artista ni a aquello que ella quisiera expresar, pero sí es muy importante tomar distancia frente a las tradiciones (y no estoy poniendo en cuestión la mitología a la que se refiere Wynnie, sino preguntando solamente de dónde proviene, pues no conozco ningún documento de la tradición judía donde se narre tal cosa). Es claro que la tradición judía debe considerar esa historia como apócrifa, pero hay que ver en qué se fundan quienes la difunden.
