I don't know anywhere in particular to buy the skidplates (or for sure if they fit the diesel ones) - the part numbers are in the video description and I suspect your best bet is to just put those in google or whatever search you use - example the front steel skidplate is 5105236AB and it looks like mymoparparts dot com has them in the USA, would be prohibitive to ship your direction unless you've got the coin to spare. I believe these were also sold in eastern europe and the soviet republic so the parts might come from east of you for a bit less money.

I'm finding this real impossible to believe, there's no clearance between the CV axles and control arm up front for a lift anywhere near 4 inches. Are you certain you don't have a Commander or Liberty or something?

Possible? Sure. So far to my knowledge lots of people have talked about it but nobody has successfully done it. Here's the challenges: The ECU controls both the engine and the transmission, so replacing with an aftermarket ECU would require one that can control the transmission too (unless you have a manual Patriot). As far as I know the ECU is locked and there hasn't been enough demand for an aftermarket manufacturer to bypass it like on Wranglers and Rams. Another difficulty is that the transmissions on these cars probably wouldn't enjoy a long life behind turbo power. I'm not saying it can't be done but I think most people just don't feel like it's worth the effort for an appliance car. If I was real set on having a powerful Patriot I'd probably look into buying a wrecked Dodge Journey V6 and powertrain swap since they're both built on the same platform and later model Journeys got pentastars.

If the car's mechanically sound I think you'll be pleased with the performance on snow. You already know all about proper tires where you live!

I'm not sure the specific sound you're picking out, this engine does have a number of mechanical noises. So far 3 years later nothing further has developed on mine.

I use Wondershare Filmora; but I think you can use any video editor that allows timelines to overlap. If you don't have "difference" blend like Filmora you will have to use a "Negative" or "Invert" filter on one copy of your video clip to produce the same effect.

The New Edge axles have a different size lower control arm bushing/bolt, so it is necessary to use lower control arms from the donor vehicle or buy aftermarket arms made for a New Edge. Uppers are the same, and most of the time it is better to use stock upper arms (they have enough flex built in to not damage the torque boxes on the chassis) . Everything else is 100% direct. If you're doing this on a V6 you can also choose to include the quad shocks and quad shock brackets, that's up to you. You'll need the bolts for the quad shocks, the captive nuts are already in your chassis. It's also necessary if you change gear ratio to correct your speedometer for the new ratio, for a manual (any engine) or a 5.0 auto that just means changing the gear in the VSS on the transmission (ten minutes, about 20 dollars) . For a 3.8 or 4.6 auto it requires an electronic correction box that's still easy but costs a bit more.

Thank you for sharing this! My 1994 has the flapper valves which added to the curiosity. If you don't mind the question, was there any purpose to the scoops or vents behind the doors, into the rear wheel arch? 1994/1995 vented through & later ones did not - but also Toyota Supra from the same years had the same scoops vented to the tire well the same way.

@@shoveI All for show. The Program Manager for SN95 "sold" functional scoops for the original vehicle to upper management. Later model years where "cost reduced" and the appearance of functionality lost out to cost savings. Overall I have some good memories working on this car.

The program manager sounds like my kind of guy! Hey thanks for your hard work on this car, you can tell here on youtube it's brought a lot of happiness to a lot of people and I think the style is starting to get appreciated again as a great representation of that era.

It usually lets me just use copyrighted music in bits & just not monetize, so the owner of the copyright gets the 9 cents the video earns. I expect at some point in the next few days it'll catch up, I just think the continuity with the performers at the car show makes the video slightly more fun.

The tow rating is 1000 pounds, or 2000 with the optional tow package. If you're within the rating there's no reason not to use it for that!

It's.. not? This Jeep has the 6F24 conventional automatic. I gave it two drain-and-fill services a week apart at 103k miles, filter is not easily accessible for at-home service on the 6F24 .

If only ! The power windows on these trucks are on something called a Carrier, which is a cast plastic assembly the size and shape of the whole door. 2 door Rams have completely different doors from any of the 4 door configurations so none of the power window parts from a 4 door will work. The switch assembly is different, the controller is different. I'd need to track down an already rare 2 door truck that got into the junkyard without wrecking its doors and has all of the parts including clean and intact inner door cards that aren't worn/gross compared to the rest of my interior. It's possible, but cheap or easy it's not :)

The mount is made by ACI and the part number is 90416

You can get the whole kit from justforjeeps dot com - sorry it looks like an actual link won't work here in the comments. The price there makes some folks squeamish but the way I look at it the first time I really need them they paid for themselves. However that website is nice enough to list the part numbers under the package so you can google the part numbers individually and then search those & try to save some money. The bolts aren't unique, but the little captive nut carriage things are (like a square threaded nut insert thing that presses into a hole in the stamped body sheet metal) . Another thing you can do is check wrecking yards like row52 dot com and car-part dot com , and use the VIN to identify if the jeeps in the yard were factory or dealer equipped with the hooks. That can save you time driving around since only a small percent of these things came with hooks. If you do find one in a wrecking yard be sure to get those captive nuts, you really do need them.

I've uploaded a new video with silly yarn tricks to find out what the hood vents do!

I've considered doing the yarn trick with them, at least on the V6 that doesn't have the check valves. I don't know how easily the perforated grill comes out but if a piece of yarn taped under the hood and dangling out the top stays out, that indicates air is moving outward and if it gets sucked in that indicates air is moving inward. Anecdotally if I'm cruising at 30-60mph on a cool day I can feel a very obvious and consistent pocket of warm air just above the side mirror, but there's no way of telling if that's coming out of the wheel well, the cowl or the hood vent and if I put a piece of tape over the vent it might answer that question... and not be demonstrable for the internet. Being real these vents are probably all super meaningless on a lightly driven car in the first place but most things in life are meaningless if you suck the fun out of them hard enough 😁

Do you mean on New Edge (99-04) Mustangs? Sure! My wife has a 2002 with all the fake scoops! I have a solution to the hood one but it's not free so it's gonna have to wait... but I can make a video without fixing hers.

I can't argue with any of this, except to say all that work to make 300+ hp out of an Essex is a tough sell economically. Can it be done? Yep! Should it? Probably not for most people 😁

​@@shoveI I fully agree, I wouldn't bother with an Essex. There are plenty of good swap options out there, both with and without existing kits. I'd be looking at a Honda J35, Toyota 2GR, or Chevy LV3 2014+ 4.3 V6 for V6 swaps. Or hell, even Ford's own later 3.7 DOHC V6, those things are beasts and can take 15+ pounds unopened, producing 500+ whp when doing so. None of that is really "budget" unless someone is already a skilled engine builder (not an assembler, a true builder) and swapper, but still. If I just wanted to turn an SN95 V6 into a peppy daily I'd do what you said regarding the engine, MAYBE order a custom street cam to David Vizard specs, manual swap it, and then stick whatever rear end gives me 60mph at 2000 in last gear, that way it's neither too long nor too short. (50mph, as some low displacement economy cars are geared for at 2000 in last is another step further you could go, but IMO is the practical limit, as that'll give you only 75 at 3000)

If I was building a circuit car... well it would be easy with a rear seat delete to loop a duct around and blast at the center of the brake. Along with Cobra/Mach1 vented discs of course!

I don't think there is much value in carrying around a 30 pound spare tire that was manufactured while Tupac was still alive, I've got roadside assistance, a cell phone and a plug-and-pump kit. I wouldn't carry the spare even if I had no sub. But if it's the right solution for you then you can do that, the speaker still needs some kind of cover to protect it from cargo.

@@shoveI ok, then get a new tire. While working with Uber/Bolt one American said to me "it's better you tell the car when you fill it up than the car tells you when to fill up" and it made sense. I've also had a work situation where i was driving not fully woken up and curbed a corner so bad that the tire went flat. Too bad a colleague made the same mistake the previous week and i had to wait for 30min for a different colleague to come to me and give me his spare. Also having worked in with tires at a point in time, i hated when the tires came filed with goo,water or any other flowy substance. Don't be an iLoser, be prepared. But hey if you want it that way do it that way. Cheers.

@@eivis13 Those spare tire bass units are trash save your money and the spare, get the JL Microsub. Higher budget? Focal. What good is bass in the car if you can only here it stopped in traffic or parked. You want to hear and feel something at whatever speed your driving. This man's custom setup is the way to do it and it's stealth the way I like it but I understand the need for the spare, the mountains have road potato's, some being sharp and a spare is mandatory especially with spotty phone coverage and fog you want off these roads as fast as possible.

It was incredibly beautiful, the colors were so bright and vivid and it's possible to see for a very long distance in every direction. Not much else to do but look around... it's not an all day destination. It's a beautiful drive though from anywhere!
