Caution: Bay Laurel leaves can give you a migraine headache. Taking a strong smell of even a few fresh crushed leaves is likely to induce a migraine for several minutes. This video is lovely but omits the very real dangers of the chemical "Umbellulone" present in the leaves. This chemical can cause both migraine headaches as well as similar effects to carbon monoxide (although this requires a larger dose than smelling a few leaves) I love these trees and have one myself, but having experienced the headache they can inflict, you do need to exercise caution

Great video, I only recently knew about this tree after buying a wooden 'Oregon Myrtle' bowl from a thrift store. The wood quality is incredible fine grained and beautiful.

Great video. I've always wanted to know how to identify SOD - important not to burn for firewood too or it will spread airborne. I wonder if the leaves might also work under the hood of an electric car to keep rats from eating the wiring, the scent is like the packets we buy now... a VERY expensive repair. Looking forward to more of these!!
