why not just jump the acc on wire to cable end coming from the breaker so its always on unless the breaker pops? only reason to use fuse box's is for key on power in my opinion. you had key off power 3 inches away from the input
Appreciate the video and product showcase. However, the audio was so low I had a very difficult time hearing you. As a result of full volume, and, ads blew my ears out when they came on. Just a little feedback for future consideration.
Thank you. This was one of my first few videos and still trying to figure it all out. I had no idea ads were even playing on my videos until now. Lol. Hopefully you will enjoy the future videos as I get better gear and more knowledge. Thank you for your feed back.
mud flaps no, splashguards yes,
I guess it depends on what you're using the car for. We are climbing over rocks, so I like the idea that the mud flaps will fold rather than break. Also, the reason I didn't go with Rally Armor as they are to stiff. I feel the splash guards would have smashed when hitting a rock. Also, they cover the side of the car better from the road grim. Each has their own preference.
Thanks ..just received mine from amazon today will be installing tomorrow..Do you known if there any way the Backlight color can be change on this system?
You're welcome. I agree. I like to watch the longer video when installing something or for trails I want to check out. Shorter videos are ok for some things. Follow along and see more stuff with the the Wilderness. Just recorded an install video for my Rival hood struts, of course they are 20 minutes old so far, but seem to be pretty cool. No more worries on dropping the hood prop and scratching the fender.
I have ordered mine. My instructions wasn't very detailed on how to set the functions on the remote. Can you explain how to set the functions on the remote, greatly appreciated.
Looking at getting a Subaru Wilderness late this year. Don't need a truck anymore! Thank you for sharing your experience. Lots of people don't like long-form videos. However, if you're looking to figure out exactly how to do something, you need a complete unbroken video with no skipping. Thanks for letting future me follow along!.
Ive no experience in wirings and electricals, are the instructions included easy to understand? I have a 23 OB premium im starting to build up .
The instructions are "ok", but it is a simple product to wire up. Follow my video as your car should be the same as mine, 24 Outback Wilderness. Basically you wire the big wire (either one) from the battery to the breaker, from breaker to the (+) side of the module. Wire the (-) side of the module to a ground or the (-) on the battery. The small wire can be wired to a constant 12volt source like I did (this lets you be able to turn the on anytime but also be warned as if accidently turned on it could run your battery down) or to a 12volt ignition source (this will only be powered when the car is turned on). This wire should be fuse, but they do include the fuse in the box, you could go straight to the battery but you would want to purchase an inline fuse for that. The only other thing to do is wire up your item you want to control so just run positive (+) wire (probably red but not always) to the (+) side on the module and the negative (-) wire (probably black but not always) to the negative terminal on the module. The only other thing to know it the module goes from 10amp to 30amp. So you will need to see what item you are hooking up requires how many amps. Pretty simple, just read the instrutions andfollow the video and I think you will be fine. The layout for the 2020-2024 outback is the same, the curcuits might be a little different from WIlderness to Premium but that is about it. Also follow the channel as I am building mine and 99% of everything that fits my car will also fit yours. I have a link in the discrption (affiliate link) for the Switch panel. Also check out Rival4X4 for your skid plates, I get nothing from them but I love the plates and they also have hood shocks that i will be installing and reviewing shortly, no more hood prop rod.
@@SubaruColorado thank you. You earned a sub man.
@@aaronnyl7429 thank you
How do you program the remote controller? Mine didn't turn on the lights when i press the button. I have to press the on and off button a few times to turn on.
I don't remember but it is in the instructions. I will try to get you that info tonight.
I ordered this unit as well as the lights for my 2022 GMC Canyon AT4. This is the best solution as not wanting to mess with the dash or connecting into existing wiring. Do you have to connect the ignition wire? It appears you do unless you want to flip the breaker each time. Now I have to figure out where to connect in the truck's fuse box. If they were only a wireless camera that was not in 4 figures. :)
The small "ACC" wire is required to either go to an ignition wire or constant 12v. You could either tap into the fuse box or just go to the battery but remember to put a fuse inline if you go to the battery. I prefer the constant 12v so I can turn them on from a distance without needing to get in the car.
I thought that was the case but didn't want to assume. Also, did you use any loctite on the nuts to ensure they didn't come loose? I appreciate your response.@@SubaruColorado
ty for the info
You're welcome.
who makes your external light set attached to your car's hood ?
Mayello on Amazon. I have a review of those, and also I have a link to them on the video. So far I like them for the price. czcams.com/video/GYCfMuNb59c/video.htmlsi=dBSVnIbCy4CCc5KA
You shouldn't drive so fast on narrow roads! haha kidding, thanks for the video!
I know right. Why spend thousands on mods to go faster when you can just speed up the video. Lol
Just order mine
You will be very happy with it. Works amazing.
Question! So you have yours install on an always hot fuse so you can turn lights on, even when the car is off/not running and I know that is not using any power while nothing is on but technically there is a receiver that’s going to be waiting for a signal from the remote. Now the question is do you think if I leave my car for a couple weeks parked for example. Will the battery die from the receiver always being “on” waiting for that signal?
just bought a 24 forester wilderness, this video helped me install mine own!
These have been amazing so far.
Only problem is, is that any interference may disrupt the signal between switches and control unit and system can be hacked in to. Wired system would be much more secure and less susceptible to interference.
Nobody is hacking your lights man. Come on . Lol
Installed one last week and it worked great, found two different wireless types, the other one is Joinfworld
May have to get one for my Nissan Titan Overland build.
I am very happy with mine. I have about 6 weeks with it so far. I might get a 2nd one for the wife's car just so I don't have to drill the firewall
Also the link is in the description
Great video, thank you
Glad you liked it!
AWESOME!
Thanks!
I went with the Garmin Power switch but this one looks pretty good too.
You talking about the $500 switch I see on Amazon?
The Garmin one does look nice. Does it have a fuse or breaker before it just in case? I did not see it listed that it did, so don't forget to order and add one if not.
Looks Ike 8awg wire. I'm ordering mine now for my Tacoma! I have everything currently wired to separate switches. Right now I have a CB and rock lights and air compressor and train horns with all the wires running through my firewall this should be a great upgrade for my light bars and pod lights and everything else.
I agree. Also the switches can be programmed super easy to work with lights to be constant on/off while also having other buttons programmed to work with the horn and only work while pushed.
Good morning, how did you power the remote control on the phone holder? 18:33
It is wireless. There is a usb-c that can charge it up and then it is good for a long while. I haven't off-roaded since the winter is here but the bit we have used the lights I have only charged it when I first pulled it out of the box and still going strong on that 1 charge.
Have you had any issues with excessive battery drain since the control box is connected to constant 12v supply? I like the idea of being able to turn on the lights with the engine off. Thank you for posting this video. You saved me some money. I had just ordered the Auxbeam AR-800 but was able to cancel that order and ordered this instead. Even though the Auxbeam had only one cable connecting the switches to the controller, I wasn't looking forward to crawling under the dash.
I ran a Trigger Six-Shooter wireless hardwired to my battery for 3 years without an issue. I think this would be a similar case. I'm planning on running mine to a always-on circuit, as I like the option to hit all the lights when the car isn't on, like when my housemate arrives home at 2am and is walking up the driveway. Opportunities for hilarity abound.
I have not had any issues since installed. I would guess the receiver probably uses very little power, but if let not driven for a long period of time i am sure it would drain it. Long time would be well over a month. I have had it sat for 4 day (long weekend where we drove the wife's car or stayed home) with not issues at all.
picked one up today! excited about the price point, wireless aspect and stoked you had this review. as of today $116 & 10% off :) bumper single row bright saber-x light bar (ironman 4x4) in the mail and picked up some niwaker combo pod lights (couldn't pass up the price point on amazon for bumper/hood) for the 2021 Tundra Trail Edition. thank you!
Thank you Stephanie. I have been really happy with this so far. I also liked the Mayello ditch lights, not bad for around $30 a set. I will look up the 2 lights you suggested.
This is awesome! Exactly what I need. Ordering one now.
I am glad I could help. We are very happy with it so far. Plan to fill all the spots by summer. You can wire the "acc" wire to either constant 12v or ignition 12v. I went with constant 12v.
Dude, get a mic or boost the volume..... can barely hear you
Yeah, I think a mic is for sure on the list to get. I will probably reshoot this video down the road.
Great music! Where do ya get it?
Thank you. I can look up the exact channel on my laptop, but it was from CZcams. It was a 4ish minute music, and then I edited it together to flow for the whole 15 minutes.
👍🏼
Thank you.
Yep I even took my Honda Accord up there several times.
That must have been one bumpy ride with an Accord.
@@SubaruColorado Bumpy in any vehicle, even an overrated Subaru.
@@Sazzbinn Own a subrau before you give it a rating
No thanks. Vehicle of the left. I'm not a lefty, the communist party.
Does it eat up any ground clearance? Got mine for my 20 forester. Its in transit and im interested to see the fitment
Not much, maybe 1/2 inch, but I will take the slight lose for the protection they give.
I got the OEM Engine, transmission and fuel tank skids for less than 300 dollars.
I did look at the oem one but they didn't cover as much. If it was a daily driver then I probably would have went that way but these are 1/4 thick and have taken a beating as we offroad it.
Any noticeable noise underneath that might be touching the skid plates?
Nothing so far as the front skid has rubber "bumpers that i think helps it. We have heard a few impacts from rocks and whatnot, but no damage so far. I am super happy with them. I think my only complaint is that they don't make the rear diff nor fuel skids.
@@SubaruColorado great I did my install but did a stupid mistake on one of the tabs with long wire and snap on of them 😭😭 so im stuck and msg Rival if they can send me one.
