This is why this United flight is empty. No one would be crazy enough to fly United if they can choose to get on ANA, especially if they cost around the same price. I ALWAYS fly ANA Business Class out of Dulles to Narita/Haneda. Your video clearly showed this: 1--disgusting unappealing looking food. 2--flight attendant stuffing her face standing in the galley. An ANA flight attendant would NEVER do this. In the 20 years I have been flying to Tokyo on ANA, i have never seen any one of them do that.

UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH I hate those shuttle busses!!! I do not like it! I would rather take the jet bridge. First of all, this whole shuttle bus thing is the least wheelchair accessible thing ever, making a very big inconvenience for wheelchair users to have to carry the wheelchair upstairs. It’s like China thinks everybody’s robots or something. This is why American airport boarding processes are quite the greater convenience for wheelchair people compared to China. China needs to get rid of those shuttlebus thingies and just make some longer runways, or longer jet bridges. Whatever. As long as it’s not the shuttlebus craziness. It’s driving me nuts!!! I am very concerned about Chinese airports and getting this whole shuttle bus thing. They need more jet, bridges and more long runways.

I had the misfortune of flying international on this flight once. Never again I’ll fly on united, even offered free! Even grayhound has better service.

What flight did you take to PEK?

The lobby looks very similar to the Astor House Hotel in ShanghaI so I would guess there is some association between the two. My grandfather Charles Eddie Hsu (Hsu Ting-Zuo) was the propreitor of the Grill Room restaurant at the Astor House Shanghai in the nineteen-teens so I have a special affinity for this hotel group. Unfortunately the Shanghai one closed a few years ago.

First class lounge with packed snacks? Seriously?! Looks more like business lounge to me.

I will be taking this exact flight next week. I noticed the plane look empty. I wished I didn't purchased business class seats upfront and instead used my points for upgrade

That steak on united is the worst choice always. Maybe tender meat but too stringy for a steak.

It was worse during Covid. Though I flew Ana from Chicago to narita the plane had 8 passengers total with only 2 in business class. And narita airport was empty hallways and stores all closed. But still better service.

I’ve always wondered if you are allowed to keep the pajama set, or is it offered for purchase? It’s interesting because I flew United out of Newark to Bangkok, but no pajamas were offered in business class on that flight.

I flew United many times in FC to London, Singapore, Sydney Beijing - food has never been over the top and wine selections have gotten more to the lower end in recent times. Best FC I have travelled has bee on Singapore Air by FAR. I hope eventually to try the highly touted Emirates if biz takes me to that region. I have flown UA Polaris Class - nothing special in my book.

I've also flown United long haul many times; to Delhi, Tokyo, Singapore, and Europe. I totally agree that one should keep their expectations flying United Polaris on the low side. Their hard product is okay, but their food and service have a lot to be desired. I've decided to fly ANA when traveling to Japan and as for India, Emirates hands down is superlative! A380 Business Class with the cocktail lounge in the back. Service, comfort, hard product and overall condition of their aircraft can't be beat. In the meantime, United is flying some pretty old aircraft! Thanks for posting!

June-July-August are not weather-friendly months to international tourists traveling to Japan. This might explain why this flight was that empty. I have flown non-stop UA803 from Dulles to Haneda and non-stop UA804, not business class, from Haneda to Dulles in April or October several times. I remember that those flights were quite full and the crew members were indeed professional, nice and helpful. Reply

The lounge at Haneda also allows passengers flying in Premium Economy which might be another reason why the lounge is so busy at Haneda.

I traveled with Royal Air Maroc about 10 times, all of them were good. The delay was very normal only between 10 and 20 minutes, the largest delay was for about 1 hour. This is a normal thing that happens with most companies in the world.

Both Korean airlines have been easy choices for me for years. I'm also a fan of ICN airport, so the combination makes my U.S. to Asia travels routinely enjoyable and comfortable - all the more so on the A380s.
