Something that always sticks in my craw is when they do a top ten hardest ever classic rock solos certain people go “oh not free bird “ well I’ve seen over the last 45-50 years so called guitarist TRY TO PLAY ANY OF THE SOLO’s and they fail MISERABLY they only guy who hits that solo like the great ALLEN LARKIN COLLINS….is RICKY MEDLOCKE OF SKYNYRD AND BLACKFOOT now Ricky is the only guitarist who does it like Allen….he even admits as skilled a player as he is there are still parts of that solo that makes him sit up and take notice………REST IN PEACE ALLEN LARKIN COLLINS YOU ARE THE MAN.

They do fine without Ed King because of the remaining two guitarists. King left just before Lynyrd and the band did this show. King was a hippie from SoCal vs the band, who were talented alcoholic Southern rednecks. Van Zandt got pissed off at Ed for breaking two strings while playing Free Bird at a live show at the home of a groupie named Ann Arbor. Ed sed Van Zandt & a roadie were jailed the day of the show & were very late to the gig, so the strings never got changed. Ed quit.
