Demonstration of Three ISO 23247 Digital Twin Use Cases
A demonstration of three ISO 23247 Digital Twin use cases - dynamic robot scheduling, airframe weight reduction, and tool life management, on Oct 27, 2020. ISO 23247 is the Digital Twin framework for Manufacturing.
The use cases are:
“Flexible Scheduling for robot drill and fill” (Boeing)
“Weight reduction using Digital Twins” (Lockheed-Martin)
“Machining Process Optimization” (Sandvik Cormorant/ KTH University)
Technologies to be demonstrated include STEP, MTConnect, and QIF.
The demonstrations are the work of the International Standards Organization Workgroup TC184/SC4/WG15

Four physical robots (called Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman) used to test dynamic scheduling and digital twinning for drilling. In the tests, Kenny is prevented from completing his tasks so the others must take over if they can.

    Export the Power Apps, Copilot, Chat GPT, Revit, Plant 3D, Civil 3D, Inventor, ENGI file of the Building or Refinery to Excel, prepare Budget 1 and export it to COBRA. Prepare Budget 2 and export it to Microsoft Project. Solve the problems of Overallocated Resources, Planning Problems, prepare the Budget 3 with which the construction of the Building or the Refinery is going to be quoted.

    I really don't see the point of this - it seems more like a gimmick, than anything else. I get what you are saying - make the model more generic, and make the machine controller/embedded computer do the work of interpolating how to machine the part. You aren't reducing the amount of design work required, just offloading from the par t designer to the machine designer. Yeah, you'll say "but machine only has to be designed once", yeah, but it would have to be PERFECT or it will fail.

      streamlines the cam side of the manufacturing. eliminates g code, eliminates post processors, simplifies in process gaging, dumping g code to go from straight model based machining will be an evolutionary step in cnc.
