Yep. I was there in 88 and while in receiving we were up for about two days straight processing before being picked up by our actual DIs and then hit the rack about 1am and getting about 3 hours of sleep before our first day of training. Fun times. Semper Fi Plt 2022!

A year later many of them would be participating in Desert Shield/ Desert Storm.

I still have my EGA .. you'd have to be an xmen to get one.

I earned the title in 1982, went to Beirut, Gulf War and quite few low intensity conflicts. I retired in 2003 accidentally with 7 rows of fruit salad and gold jump wings earned when I was LCpl. No regrets! I was DI from 91 to 93 with 3rd BN Mike Company but got sent on quotas to Weapons Training BN as a PMI because I had 10 expert rifle qualifications.

This was my class. Platoon 1051. SSgt. Morgan and Sgt. Ochoa. We started June 5th 1989. Oh the memories! OORAH!!

Summer of 89 is about when I would have shipped to boot. I was a pollee my junior and senior year in high school, scored very high on my ASVAB and then at MEPS they learned of my medical history. In the summer of '85 I was in an accident (because of a dumb-f@#% friend of mine) and received a massive head trauma. Five skull fractures and a shattered face. My left cheek bone and lower eyesock were replaced with plastic and the rest wired back together. I was fully recovered but I got denied. What I planned to do for basically my entire life up until then got stripped away. I really didn't give a shit about what I wanted to do for a job/career after that. My sister was enlisting at the same time I was. She served as a field radio opporater. My dad dropped out of high school and joined the Corps to fight in Korea. The Arrmisist was signed about the time he was finishing boot camp so he never went. My son is currently a Marine (3521 Motor-T). He graduated from MCRD San Diego in Feb 2021. There was no family day and no attendance for graduation because the base was still under lockdown for the Covid PLANdemic bullshit, And no 10-day leave either. Two hours after a graduation ceremony in front of empty bleachers they were on buses and headed to SOI at Camp Pendelton. From there he flew straight to his MOS school at Camp Johnson, NC. But I had a chance to fly out there spend a couple days with him on his weekend libo. I've never really gotten over having the opportunity to be a United States Marine taken from me. God bless the Corps. On a side note: I still think the old woodland camo was much more effective at breaking up the block image and hiding the human form than the current digi-cam.

Platoon 1007, 1st battalion, bravo company. Nothing came together for me physically until 3rd phase. There was one other recruit in my platoon myself and I'm sure a few others wanted to ask him: Does your mom know you're here?" At the beginning of 3rd phase he was sent back to 1st phase.

Ahhhhh....the memories. 3014 in Nov 1988

Oh boy, I flew into San Diego in the morning and sat on that bus as it filled up one and two at a time until about 11 o clock. Then the yellow footprints and the fun began. Semper Fi.

I graduated boot camp in May 1989 Platoon 2023. This brings back so many memories. Especially as i sit here 34 years later with a total knee replacement, i realize i was once a fit individual with no limits. One shot one kill mantra. Now i am a 54 year old softy. My small circle of friends still includes the Marines i served with. Watching the Senior tell the Guide he was proud of him hit me a little different. 😢
