2024 Arts & Letters Diploma Ceremony
---
With 20 departments across the humanities, arts, and social sciences, the College of Arts and Letters is home to exceptional faculty and talented students who are studying what they love. It's an environment to ask big questions, read classic texts, and explore languages and cultures.
We're not just about learning through acquisition. We're about learning through exploration. Our undergraduate students travel the globe to research topics that fascinate them, then turn their observations into conclusions about the world.
Through the liberal arts, you learn to read deeply. Think about issues critically. Discuss topics thoughtfully. Write arguments persuasively. Contribute to projects creatively. And these abilities aren't just vital in the classroom-they're exactly what employers, graduate schools, and service organizations are looking for.

Spring 2023 College of Arts & Letters Faculty Meeting
Thank you. I have been interested in this topic for years. Early Christians viewed the cross with horror and did not represent it in their art. When reference was made to the cross the emphasis was on the triumph of Christ. After 1070 a d, Christ was commonly depicted on the cross and the church began to emphasize the suffering of Christ. Like Christ, we must suffer and die before glory and resurrection. I was fascinated to learn of two very early representations of Christ on the cross: The magical gem intaglio, about 180 a d probably found in Syria. It is likely that this amulet was made by people who were not Christians, who hoped to capture some of Christ's power and manipulate it through magic formulas. The second is the Palatine graffito, graffiti of Christ on a cross, naked, with the head of an ass. A slave was saluting him or praying to him. Next to the image are the words: Alex Amenos worships his god. This was probably one slave making fun of a Christian slave in the social media of the day.
Can I join a diploma I'm from india
I want to join you in this research
Fascinating!
I watched a clip where you explain where the Quran got the word Hawareen referring to Jesus companions and you claim that finally you found out that the Quran got it from the Ethiopian bible where it uses "Haar" for the Jesus companions. Please read below the Muslim scholars explanation which I am sure you are aware of it.

Great 👍
True i loved sociology in varsity
I know David personally. Amazing guy, loved and respected by all his friends.
Proud to be political science student❤❤
Loved my time at Notre Dame. Spent first three years in Sorin Hall and then got forced out by freshmen and moved over to Lyons. Graduated in 1974. Thought about writing a book as writing has long been one of my top endeavors - entitled: "My last Sunday as a Catholic was my first Sunday at Notre Dame". I was finally free of my parents and could act on my own and through my own mind. I know you've dedicated your life to something you call a god - which you will find doesn't exist when you make your next transition - but I hope you remember a fellow domer was the one who filled you in. We don't know how things came to be. If we did, it would be taught at MIT. Be well.
I feel sorry that this is your reflection on attending Notre Dame. I recall the warmth of the students and professors and the top-notch education. The football wasn't too bad either. Faith is something that I also found at Notre Dame. I don't claim to have an answer for everything, but an all loving God sure makes more sense to me than everything exploding into existence on its own from nothingness. I hope you seek rather than closing doors to God.
Only several months later, Fr. Ted would see the face of God. Rest in peace, American Priest🙏
I love this dude such mind
What was that? A PR? Why is it so short?
Thanks for sharing!

'it's a great idea to worship athena' at the end.. that threw me. "These idols have no power" sure :) It's no biggie. I've heard "It's what's in your heart.. God sees your heart" The heart is deceitful above all things.. who may know it? I wanna get rid of my computer and phone and everything! Idols. but idk. I may be wrong
Only a Platonism would think there would be one

I really enjoyed the cinematography of this video :)
Beautifully expressed!!
Well...I was mailing my daughter my basic training hoodie which has all the names of the people I went through the training with (it's a little to snug for me, now). "R. Scranton" was the first pair of BCG's I remember as we were directly across from each other, in the push-up position, getting our first dose of group therapy. Proximity made us battle buddies as it does for everyone in basic training. Then we went to our different MOS training and I never saw him again. So proud to see a veteran that didn't squander the educational help the military provides. I'm also glad that he made it through his time in the Army.
Very very interesting.
Awesome 👍
If you describe yourself like this on your resume it will take it to the next level.
Congratulations, John. It's an honor to know a humble and humorous Professor
Congratulations, John!
A toast to you, the Notre Dame community, and to the questions, claims, and proofs of decency. Onward in the cause, good sir.
Thank you Roy. Appreciate you being proactive
