Prawn Koliwada | Crispy Shrimp in a special Gluten Free batter | Kravings
Prawns KOLIWADA - Made famous by the Kolis of Mumbai, this spicy and crispy preparation of Prawn, Shrimp & Fish is famous in Mumbai and all over India. Prawns are marinated in a spice blend and then slathered in a GLUTEN FREE batter and fried till crispy!
Here are the ingredients and steps to make this recipe!
Prawn Koliwada
Prawn & Marinade
300 gms Tiger Prawns
1 tsp Chilli powder
1 tsp Cumin powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
1/2 tsp Ajwain seeds (Bishop’s weed, Carom or Caraway seeds)
1 tbsp Ginger & Garlic paste
Juice of 1/2 Lime
Batter
3 tbsps Gram flour (Besan or Chana ka atta)
3 tbsps Rice Flour
1 tsp Chilli powder
2 tbsps Yogurt
1 tbsp Oil
1/4 tsp of red food colouring
1 tbsp chopped Coriander
1 - 2 tbsps of Water
2 tsps Baking powder
Salt to taste
Shell & de-vein the Prawns and butterfly them (optional)
Add all the marinade ingredients and keep aside for about 30 mins
Prepare the batter by adding all the batter ingredients together
Add the Baking powder at the end when you’re ready to coat and fry the Prawns
Heat some oil and add the Prawns covered with the batter into the hot oil
Cool for a few minutes till the batter is nice and crispy

Thank you for promoting Moroccan food, but red beans are not used in Moroccan cuisine, and i think they would change the taste. What you can use is Potatoes (pieces cooked in the tajine or French fries and added at the end) or Carrots. You can also do just chicken without any vegetables but then it s better to double the amount of onions. Great video though

Love your recipe but please do not use garbage bags to marinate meat. There is chemicals in the garbage bags . Use baking bags of oversized zip lock bags.

I just got one and it made out chicken come out great! On the down side, some of the coating on the chicken (egg with mashed up corn flakes) came off and fell into the little square openings at the bottom of the door. Manual directions said to slide to door to the right to remove, but I couldn't get it to budge. I returned it due to this issue. Otherwise I liked the results.

How much the meal costed without the alcohol?
I can't remember as it was a few years ago ... but it's definitely on the expensive side ...
Just my experience with Instant Pot, everyone seems to be cooking bread puddings too long in the Instant Pot. I mean, hard boiled eggs, I cook to pressure for 0 (zero) minutes and let to release for 10 minutes, maybe 12 minutes natural release for big eggs. Forty minutes under pressure seems like a long time. Minumum 30-40 minutes in an oven for a small batch, but in an Instant Pot you count time from when the device comes up to pressure at which time the food is already almost warm through. Six minutes, with 10 min release should probably be plenty. Even 12 minutes with 10 minutes release seems like overkill, but works if you want to be safe. Any one tried different times out there?
I found the time I used to be perfect ... the pudding was not overdone - for eggs I usually do 2 - 2 - 2

Hi there - Makhani is made with Butter & Cream. If you're using Coconut Milk, that would give you a more lighter gravy, more Goan or coastal style. If you're doing that, I would omit the butter, there is no need.
