Well, I'm not sure it's a demo, so much as picking out a tune. I would believe Buddy might just sit around working something out on a home tape machine so he could go back to it, revisit it. The Beatles bounced things out of each other, Buddy was probably more solo, don't you think? The Beatles once said they had hundreds of songs that were totally non complete, not worthwhile carrying out, nor releasing, guess which Beatles, yeah, John. Amazing when you consider their catalog. Just shows you 90 percent perspiration, 10 percent the rest.

I remember in the movie "The Buddy Holly Story", when Buddy was recording this and Maria Elena walks in. Buddy quickly botches the song while watching her and becomes affectionately known as "One Take Holly".

If it was recorded somewhere between January 1st and January 20th, 1959 then it might have been recorded on my birthday…January 8th, 1959.

Sure sounds clean for a 1959 home recording. It's far better than a professional studio at that time. How is that? It sounds digital to me.

As a 77 year old life long Buddy fan, I am surprised to say I have never heard this song. Must have overlooked it on an album somewhere along the way. The melody is definitely "Words of Love".

I think I'm right in saying that Hollys producer Norman Petty re-worked the later versions of this song and used different musicians and backing singers. I think the Fireballs (from Jimmy Gilmer and the Fireballs fame) were used on the 1960s versions. The guitar picking sounds very like them.

I feel very dubious about this. Buddy didn’t record any instrumentals for release in his life. Also the picture used is not of Buddy. It’s a model who was wearing his suit which was being sold.

I don't know how many people realize that the great singer/songwriter was also a great guitarist. Take 1 gives you an electric guitar in the hands of a musician who knew how to make it beautiful, a true musical instrument, not a noise-maker.

Buddy Holly was so romantic and passionate. This song is absolutely captivating. Hes absolutely capitivating and mesmerizing.
