X and Y honestly had some of the most forgettable cast in the franchise. Who in the hell thought that three Pokemonwas enough for the final gym leader? Also, for a mechanic that was supposed to be based on the close relationship between a trainer and a Pokemon, the fact that the first mega that we get in the game is not even our own Pokemon feels lazy asf. Then there is the entire thing about how Sycamore asks us to find more about Mega when there is an entire family of Experts in the field already.

Honestly xerneas didn’t really seem broken (I started playing during gen 8 though) I’m just asking, if primal groudon was the top Pokémon, and it would resist every move that xerneas has aside from hidden power? What made it so broken?

I just dislik le some of the type charting with fairy like i love that fairy checks dragons but why does fairy resist bug? I love bug types but they get the short end of the stick the most out of all types

I like this exp share system but I really wish it wasn’t just a base mechanic that cannot be toggled in the newer games, some people really don’t like the mechanic and even as someone who enjoys it sometimes it can be actively difficult to avoid having an absurdly over leveled team and just having the option to turn it off would be so much better; there’s no reason not to give the option to turn it off.

I just wish there was a proper level scaling. Like, man, that mechanic would fix so many of my issues with the difficulty in this game

Base Rayquaza was known to calm down PRIMAL Kyogre and Groudon, giving it a mega is just overkill (still love him though)

I've always hated the concept that Ice types are bad an always have been. It's an offensive typing meaning most ice types tend to have high Atk and Sp Atk and it's actually one of the best offensive typings if not the best. This runs in line for most types which generally have 2-3 stats they tend to specialize in such as Eletric pokemon normally having high Sp atk and speed stats, steel and rock normally having high sp def, Def and atk, and Fairy normally having high Sp atk and sp Def. Generally you can look at a pokemons primary typing and determine what it's normally gonna have its highest stat in. This has never really happened with 2 typings though, Normal and Dragon. They tend to be non specialized across the board meaning you can easily find decisively bulky dragon types like Goodra or Kommo-o or hard hitting normal types like Porygon Z and Staraptor.

That’s not entirely the reason why megas sucked for competitive. It’s moreso because it restricted pokemon usage. Yeah, there are a lot of megas, but let’s be real, who’s using mega abomasnow? A certain few megas were just so vastly superior that you had to use those or else your team was just at a direct disadvantage. That’s why dynamax and terastal are so good for competitive, because any pokemon can use them (I’m choosing not to talk about z moves because that’s a whole other problem)

I haven't met someone who thought Mega Evolution was a bad addition to competitive just yet, but it's literally given so many Pokémon to shine and be in the spotlight like Kangaskhan, Bannette, heck evem Pinsir. Comp is a very different standard of play when compared to Pokémon's original premise, Competitive is literally a standard of play with even MORE standards of play be it Smogon or VGC. Plus it's a very new thing, of course it's gonna have backlash and upset the balance of the competitive scene which was just riddled with legendaries and Pseudos before Gen 6. But in the words of my boy, Viktor from Arcane : "When you're going to change the world, don't ask for permission."

I'd say megas were the best gimmick for the series, while terastalization is the best gimmick for competitive.

Fairy and steel are my favorite types idk but dragon kinda was stale so it getting put down a peg wasn’t all bad

The best thing XY did was the Wifi Scene. It was so smooth and easy to use.

X and Y is the worst games in the series

Here is the thing, the reason the "meta" has never been truly "balanced" is because Game Freak never intended for there to be a meta to begin with, player vs. player was just supposed to be something fun to do when the games story was over, but no, the hyper competitive shits of the world backed Game Freak into a corner and demanded a robust meta and game freak has had to try and rickshaw a meta out of a system that wasn't designed to have one ever scene at the expense of everything else, why do you think Scarlet/Violet had so many bugs on day one.

The EXP share was NOT a problem in the XY games. The real issue in XY was the fact that we had repeatable trainer battles in the Battle Cafes and Battle Chateau.

Comp players generally dont mind megas anymore. First battle gimmick was bound to take backlash

I’m not too into competitive Pokémon but I can understand why people don’t like the huge difference in strength between them. But I think it’s really cool that now in national dex mega banette is now one of the most used mons in ou simply because it got access to poltergeist. Banette probably would not be seeing play.It’s helped almost useless Pokemon like beedrill,banette and lopunny actually see usage.

I actually enjoyed XY, but I think the issue with gen 6 was....because of the high expectations fan had after gen 5. From what I noticed, most fans think gen 5/BW/B2W2 was peak pokemon....Coming from that expectation to gen 6 with all its issues, I suppose fans thought pokemon stumbled. That being said, gen 5 imo is pretty overrated. My favorite gen is 3 and 4, but XY is not bad at all like some fans think.
