Awesome! Yes, you're right about the Original Recon's. The Original AK-47's had the same Benchmade style Lock; they are part of my Collection. Benchmade enforced their patent, and they stopped making it. That's what I heard. You've been a Cold Steel Fan longer than me. My first Cold Steel Purchases were the Titanium Angels and the Original Titanium Ti-Lite Knives around 2000 and 2001. That's where my Collection starts. I sold the Arch Angel's and still have one of the Original Titanium Ti-Lite Folders I purchased in 2001. Like you, I do have the US Made, Carbon-V, Recon Fixed Blade, also. Right on! This one is perfect from the Box. No modding needed for this one. Or, at least, the one I received. I know consistency can be off sometimes with Cold Steel. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

I absolutely luv it, too, for Work. :-) Right on! I don't do Cardboard Cutting Test. I use and carry most of the Knives you see on my Channel. So, I don't like to prematurely wear out my Blades. When I do cutting Videos, it's usually with Wood, doing Woodcrafting Tasks with my Fixed Blades.. Resharpening your Blades constantly destroys your Blades, eventually. If you want your Knives to last, you shouldn't waste them on unnecessary tasks. Now, if these Knives I have were given to me or donated for such tasks, then it would be okay, and I would do it. But, these are expensive purchases I made with my hard earned funds. So, I take care of them, knowing that I may wish to sell or trade them, one day, down the Road... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

Exactly! :-) My 1st impressions weren't the greatest, out the Box. :-( But, once I went through giving it a Lube & Tune, it performed perfectly. And, when I started carrying it every day, I noticed more and more I absolutely luv about it. What I learned is that it is very nicely made. Yes, watch my 1st Video. I totally agree. I took mine apart and Cleaned and Lubed and Tuned it. It wasn't an easy task. But, afterwards it was perfect. I would recommend loosening the Pivot and apply a Lithium Based Gun or Knife Oil and work it into the Pivot. Then, adjust it to your taste. I wouldn't use any additional Blue Loctite until you feel it's broken in. That's my advice. But, yes, mine was the exact same way as you're describing your's. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

The New, Cold Steel, Large Talwar, with CPM-S35VN, Powdered Metallurgy Stainless Steel, and New Blade Grind with a real Sharpening Choil, absolutely "ROCKS!!!" :-) Mine is in my pocket, right now, at Work; I absolutely luv mine. These not only make awesome Self-Defense Folders, they are awesome every day carry options, too. :-) Mine functioned flawlessly and smoothly, even before I Lubed & Tuned it. :-) I can easily Thumb Flick and Reverse Middle Finger Flick it with ease. It's so smooth. This is a very nice Large Talwar with awesome grip and balance, too, like the Originals. :-) I cannot vouch for the New, XL Talwar; the one's I purchased, when they were first released by the New Cold Steel Company, would go into, what I call, "Fixed Blade Mode." :-( So, I cannot recommend those. There is a fix. In mine, they used the wrong size Stop Pin. And, did I mention that, like the Old, Original, Talwar's, it's easy to disassemble and reassemble again when pulling maintenance. And, it stays centered, and with a dab of Blue Loctite on the Pivot Screw, it doesn't come loose. :-) For those still hoping to find a CTS-XHP Talwar, I say, "I like this one just as much." And, I like the New Blade Grind with a Sharpening Choil, better... My advice would be to wait for the next Large Talwar Sale! And, then, go get you one! :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

Right on! I totally understand, Bro. This is a very nice one, once you Lube & Tune it, that is. Personally, I think I could make it super smooth and fast to open and close if I polished off the finish on the Blade Tang where it comes into contact with the Lock-Bar. Mine needed adjustment. The Blade was very loose. And, the Knife felt like it had no lubrication at all. But, you could probably just Lube & Tune it without disassembling it. But, mine desperately needed a Lube and Tune to get it to smooth out and center and function correctly. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

Demko uses a company in Italy doing blades for their AD-20i model blade steel 20cv with hrc at 60.5 . There's a video on demko's Instagram of Andrew using a ball peen hammer and batoning the blade in wood.. no damage to edge or blade spine. But yeah I would agree the magnacut needs to be tested

I have seen Andrew Demko say in a Video, with the KnifeCenter.com, during the 2024 Blade Show, that his Magnacut is heat treated to 62 HRC. Now, this is for Demko Knives. I haven't heard what Cold Steel's HRC is for Magnacut... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

Did a Hardness test 2 days ago on mine..... 3 separate tests of 3 pokes each (9 total pokes) for a combined average Rockwell of 62.3 ..... Just about PERFECT. so no woprries on the heat treat, at least for mine anyways.

It makes them weigh less and operate super smoothly and feel much stronger and more balanced in hand as far as the build strength and balance are concerned. That's what I did with mine. Yes, that is common when you aggressively Fidget with them. It's a super easy fix. You just disassemble them and add a tiny bit of Rubber Cement to the Stop Pins inside and out, and the reassemble and let dry for a couple of days, and the issue is solved. :-) This trick works for all noisy Stop Pins in any Folder. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

Yes, I totally agree with you on the Pivot. It is a major pain in the posterior portion of my physical anatomy, for sure... :-) :-) :-) But, once you Lube it and get it together right and Tune it, it functions very nicely. And, fit and finish are Top-Shelf. Though, I must admit, the Taiwan Recon 1 is much easier to take apart and put back together. But the Magnacut Clip/Bowie Blade is awesome! And, I do absolutely luv the texture and finger grooves on the New Italian model better. But, the Pivot setup is my gripe. Due to how difficult it is to deal with, as compared to the original, Demko, design. It's in my Pocket right now, at Work. I have decided to add it to my Rotation Drawer, for my Work Folders. I will use the mess out of mine, as is. I want to see how it is after a lot of use. But, so far, I absolutely luv it, except for the Pivot Setup... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

Yes! The ones I have received are Top-Shelf and Flawless! I couldn't be happier with them. They have perfect fit and finish and function. It's hard for me to imagine an AD10 being better than one of these; mine are that nice. Personally, I absolutely love the "Pocket Shredder Handel Scales."" Why? Well, with the strong Cold Steel Pocket Clips, they make your folder very hard to lose when clipped to your pocket. And, to me, that's important when riding my HD. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

Wider? Not that I've noticed... But, the Fonger Grooves are bigger... And, the Scales have more texture. I think the M1 Scales feel like they are nicer when It comes to grip. I hope this helps... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

No, the aren't, as far as I can tell. But, they are different from the Original Cold Steel Company Scales. The Finger Grooves are larger and the Jimping is different and so is the Texture; it's more aggressive. Aggressive in a good way. But the handle length and width are the same. Though, the girth might be slightly different due to the thicker Lock-Bar and Blade... :-) M8ne is in my Pocket, right now, at Work. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

Yes, I would not change these G-10 Handle Scales: I like these. :-) I was just stating that these are different from the Classic, Original, Cold Steel Recon 1 Folders that were designed by Andrew Demko and made in Taiwan. I like the extra texture these Scales have. It gives a little more grip confidence. :-) And fitment is "Top-Shelf" on mine. My only gripe is how hard it is to disassemble and re-assemble. It's a great one. It is going into my Rotation Drawer; it won't be just a Collector. I will be using this one with its CPM-Magnacut SS! :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

I absolutely luv the Italian, Recon M1. I have been fidgeting with it since I assembled it. it is super smooth and stays centered and everything has perfect fitment. But it was only like that after I Lubed & Tuned it. :-) Though, I know, many won't do what I did. :-( And their experience won't turn out like mine did, after I Lubed & Tuned my M1... :-( But yes, once it's Lubed & Tuned, it is an awesome Recon! :-) And I will purchase another, if they make an American Tanto Recon M1... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

I would say it's up to you... Myself, I absolutely luv both. So, for me, it would come down to Blade Shapes or Types and ease of use and maintenance. I think you should watch both of my Videos on the Recon M1... I think they will answer a lot of your questions. But, I want to say something that I didn't say in my last Video, "I absolutely luv the M1 and it's going in my Rotation Drawer!" Positives: It stays centered after I applied a tiny bit of Blue Loctite to the Pivot. And, it's super smooth, now that I have Lubed & Tuned it. The Grind Lines and Fitment are Perfect! Also, the Blade is "Razor" sharp!" And, now, it's a fun one to Fidget with and use. :-) Negatives: The only negative is how hard it is to take apart and put back together. Also, When freshly un-boxed, it wasn't smooth, tuned, or lubed. It was dry and gritty feeling and functioned poorly. It had to be disassembled and Lubed & Tuned to get it to operated perfectly. :-(

I just had to see if this one was for real. And, it is! This is the lowest price I have ever paid for a Cold Steel, XL Tanto Voyager, "EVER!!!" Wow! What a deal! Now, I have a Plain and Serrated Edge, New, Cold Steel Company, XL Voyager Set! These are my New, 2024, XL Voyager Carry Set. Both, where purchased on Sales, this year. Since you like to collect Cold Steel knives, I thought that I'd let you know there's a place that has Hidden Angels (clip point and drop point versions) in stock for a good price. It's a Finnish retailer called Lamnia. I've ordered from them a few times and they are awesome. With express shipping, which is like $3 over the base free shipping, I get stuff from them faster than I do from many US based retailers! Anyway, Hidden Angel is a crazy beast of a bali. The blade stock thickness is simply insane! What's really surprising is that it actually flips pretty well. I don't mean fancy aerial tricks and stuff... just the practical/martial type of flipping.
