In Amsterdam's Museumplein, three renowned museums-the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and the Stedelijk Museum-offer a remarkable array of artworks that capture the essence of various eras and movements in dutch history. The Rijksmuseum houses masterpieces from the Dutch Golden Age, thus preserving and highlighting the Netherlands' rich artistic heritage. The Van Gogh Museum, dedicated to the life and works of Vincent van Gogh, provides unparalleled insights into the mind and creative process of one of history's most influential artists. The Stedelijk Museum, with its extensive collection of modern and contemporary art, represents the innovative and often provocative developments in the art world. Together, these museums create a dynamic and engaging environment that not only celebrates historical and artistic achievements but also encourages reflection on the cultural and societal shifts that have shaped the art world.

Did Vincent van Gogh Only Sell One Painting in His Lifetime? I Behind the Masterpiece

Vincent van Gogh is known commonly to not have had a successful career during his life; one of the first tortured artists. But did he only have one buyer for his art while he was alive? I went to Europe with fellow students in 1969. We visited the Louvre in Paris and stood in front of the Mona Lisa for a long time. The painting was unprotected and we enjoyed unrestricted access. In fact, there were only a few people and an eldery guard in the entire area. On a recent trip to the Louvre, a friend and her husband stood for an hour in line outside, then crept forward by inches in a serpentine line inside until they were in front of the heavily-guarded and shielded painting. They were allowed 30 seconds in front of the Mona Lisa before being moved along so others could have a half-minute of wonder.

There is no more difference between male and female artists than there is between two single artists regardless of their sex/gender/orientation. Unless one uses his/her genitals to paint. A lesbian artist can "objectify" women's body as much as an heterosexual man.

Enjoying this video! I respect and even enjoy some of the minimalist modern art of a number of the most well-known artists 👩🏼‍🎨 of this genre. In regards to Piet Mondrian, again, respect for what he did, because it was groundbreaking, but aesthetically, his art and art similar to his, is just not pleasing to me to look at. It does not create any emotion in me...for color, shapes, composition, light...nothing. So while I respect what was apparently his vision to simplify art to its barest of elements, in this effort he was successful. But that's as far as it goes for me. My ex-husband once bought a sweater for me that looked very close to a Mondrian painting...a few red & yellow blocks, black straight lines and white background. I rarely wore it and when I did, I never liked it. I eventually donated it to a thrift store. Someone else may have loved it...I hope so. We all have our preferences and what triggers beauty and attraction in our minds, but just doesn't in others.

I did not like the pyramid when it was built and still think it's ruining the beauty of the place. But retrospectively it makes sense, especially the huge infrastructure to welcome the public. It’s visionary because it was largely overkill at a time when booking in advance a museum ticket woulder never have come to mind, but now the mass tourism has changed all that.

You have done a fine job. But at 17:39 this is not Lorenzo the Magnificent who died in 1492. It is Lorenzo Duke of Urbino his grandson. His father Piero was the Magnificent's son as well as Pope Leo. Guilio has been claimed as the Magnificent's murdered brother Guiliano's illegitimate son that was taken in to the Medici household after his father's death. Gets confusing when you cover all the generations. Raphael noted it in the Left Hand corner. I was obviously obsessed by this family's story after a visit to Italy.

I've seen that Tumblr post that talked about the x-ray scanned version of the Gentileschi painting. It was fascinating to see that she had originally drawn susanna with a knife poised in self defence, and later changed it because someone probably told her that women aren't supposed to be shown as violent. But she later stuck with her philosophy, and made painting like the 'Judith slaying Holofernes' one shown in the video. Gentileschi is an amazing artist.
