Jeep YJ Wrangler 87-96 Center Frame Section RUST REPAIR
zhlédnutí 205Před měsícem
Unfortunately the YJs have a couple of common failures in the center section of the frame, one would be rusted out frames, the other is the bolts breaking or nuts spinning in the frame. Where yall located?
We are in SE Iowa, Montrose.
Why won't my ball joints come off this easy 😢
Code P0320 replaced CKP still no start and now some fuses aren't getting power.
@@bobbyridlen7424 fuses at PDC under hood or the fuse block behind glove box?
I think the mechanic cross thread them....they leaking.. Going nuts
Any concerns with the heat shrink and solder crimps under normal operating temperatures? Any possibility of the solder reflowing due to the heat from the manifold? They seem to be a very low melting point if a heat gun can flow the solder.
@chrispurvis907 Good question, we have been using them for many years now for pretty much all of our connections and never seen an issue like that. Nor have I noticed them being soft. Anyone out there experience something like that?
Do you use a plasma cutter at all
Sometimes we will use a plasma cutter, yes.
What to do if the button can't be pushed in
Id try spraying some WD40 into the button, you could also try wiggling that piece that pops out towards the throttle body to see if its holding the button up.
I had that code for 3 years! I had to use a friend's ECU to pass smog the first time because his ECU didn't detect an issue for some reason. I changed both sensors multiple times with cheap ones and expensive ones, traced the wires, bought a new ECU, and tried EVERYTHING. I got the code before I changed out my distributor. Smog is due this week, and I saw this video. Sure enough the duralast distributor I had in was 180° off. So odds are I just needed to change one of the 2 sensors with a Mopar one the first time, and I would have saved 3 years of my life. Thanks for helping me keep my jeep!
Can I drive without a clockspring
@ari1234. The jeep will drive, if the clockspring is not functioning. If you are saying physically removing it, I think it would still drive. With a bad clockspring or no clockspring the main issue is that if you were to get in an accident the steering wheel air bag will not go off.
Mmaaaaannnnn , this started out as a fuel pump 😢😢😢 Now i got the whole truck tore off a rusty frame , Heay you got a car trailer , free scrape ... I can't stand the thought of all them payments again . All you gotta do is run me over on your way out , real good too , may have to back up even ..i'll help you load it too..😂😂
So the last part of the video is how it was lined up before you made the 180 degree spin on the gear? Confused on that.
If I remember correctly that part is after I spun it 180 Deg.
Shout out to Dave for this video and the mount. Very sturdy and secure mount. Answered my questions and delivered a top notch product. Do have to tweak it a bit (my fault not his) but I could not be happier with it. Designed by a Jeeper for fellow Jeepers. Not a compensated praise in anyway, just calling out quality work and great service in case anyone was on the decision fence. Thanks again Dave!
Think I might have the same gear issues. Will try to turn it tomorrow. Thank you
You rock sir. Thanks
My tj feed line from the fuel pump to the hard line broke....what part do I need to buy....part# ?? my tj has a 6 lift.
I'm not aware of a new off the shelf version. You can find used ones on ebay. Or you can go to Napa or another parts store, get the fuel line ends, some fuel injected fuel line and some good clamps.
Great video...I so bad want to get you a set of ratchet wrenches...lol
Thanks, I have a set, unfortunately the 9/16 broke and I keep forgetting to buy another.
Nice job! Learned something new, using the slide hammer to get wrench started. Offset angle wrenches also can be very handy in tight spaces.
I wonder what you can do with this tool if it's a flange bolt meaning it's located pretty close to the exhaust pipe? I see all of the inserts are straight assuming you have a good access to the bolt like in your video. I wish it came with some angled inserts for those cases where everything is sitting pretty tight...
The inserts are flexible. And there’s one you can get that’s straight you can bend around stuff then plug in.
@@codygibson2809 Thank you
Love your work, when can I bring you my truck, its a 2011 silver rodeo
At this moment 7/27/24 Im booked until late Sept. Send me an email at dave@taboocustoms.com if you want to get something on the schedule.
Also how would I look up the ‘78 13 digit VIN? I’m trying to figure out all the specs and exact model and trim. I’m new to the Jeep world in case it’s not obvious lol
I’m looking at a ‘78 CJ7 that looks sharp in the pictures with a 304 and they said it runs great. Assuming all these things are true and all the things you mentioned check out why do you think it’s worth if it’s a base model? They are asking 8,000
Probably wrong place to ask, but: are these compatible with a 95 ZJ axle?
@@Mulengr0 We happened to have one outside and yes it looks like these will work on ZJs as well
The transverse stowage box is for the hoops and bows meant for supporting the rear canvas.
Thanks for the video! I adjusted my tv cable but my Jeep still won't shift when I pull out and increase speed. I have to take my foot completely off the gas pedal before it will shift. I did check the end of my cable where your piece goes and it still looks perfect. The adjustment helped a little bit. Any other ideas?
Never seen a frame rot like a Toyota
I wish my xj wasn't uni body lol. Ive got all the panels pulled and half the uni frame..
I met a guy who fit a buick V6 in a ww2 jeep Only raised the body 3/4" to clear the carb . You couldnt tell anyrhing was out of place unless you put it right against a stock one. Some guys are genius fabricators
Had the same issue with install on my 97 TJ
I noticed that this was unplugged on my friends 97 wrangler when I was replacing the transmission cooling lines. So I plugged it back in. After that when going up hills it surges unless you give it enough gas to drop a gear. When I unplug it it's just fine. So you think replacing the switch will fix the problem? The wiring looks fine.
That is odd. So if its unplugged it shouldn't start unless its rewired somewhere else. The only thing that switch really does is tell the ECM its safe to start (detects its in neutral or park) and it runs the reverse lights. With the connector unplugged it starts?
@@TabooCustoms Sorry about that. I was wrong. just crawled back under it. It is a two wire plug below the cooling line facing the back. (torque converter clutch solenoid)
V8 Chevy, will get better gas mileage and can pull my pontoon up these hills
Me behind the wheel
Shit hold my beer and watch boy
Cherokees come out with V8’s ….. duhhhhhhh
Said no one ever?
Was putting V8s in jeeps before the Internet was a thing
Looks right at home in there
My 98 grand Cherokee came with a 360. I know it’s not a Cherokee but not really much bigger. Plus factory limited slip rear diff.
Never say never!!! Nice work brother. ❤
Enough meth, well I guess anything is possible.
Wow you popped that loose with a ratchet!
Had a v8 in mine
This looks like a great option to possibly restore the integrity of the rusted 4Runner frames. Does the kit come with written "how to" instructions? Did you use any other rust removal tools than needle scaler, grinder and wire brush (I couldn't quite tell as that part of the video was sped up?) I couldn't tell from video how you bolted the kit parts to the frame. Approximately how much time is involved in the welding portion of installation (considering this will be our first time....assume the second side will go a bit quicker?) thanks in advance...SM
Hello, yes most of our kits come with some written instructions but the videos are probably better for instructional purposes. I typically have a 90 and straight die grinder as well with a burr bit. On the driver side there are existing threaded holes we used for the bolting just to hold it in place while we lined them up. Time depends on condition, experience, etc... 4-8 hours Id say. It can take a while.
@@TabooCustoms Great, thank you for your prompt reply and helpful info. Trying to determine if I want to tackle it as I don't have a lift.
Great video. Thanks for taking the time to explain it all.
Nice shade of yellow
Thanks!
Yellow ain't my color,BUT A V8 is anytime, anywhere
I would pick a 4.0 over any motor in a jeep
Ive made 396 hemis fit.
They also told me that a 426 Hemi wouldn't fit in a Honda Civic, it was a butthole clencher😅
If the 4.0L I6 fits, of course a SBC will
Hell , you could put a 440 mopar in there. Lots of room!
Length wise yes width wise not so much, headers have to be block hugger and modified to fit in a XJ.
GREAT JEEP
