    I bought one of these and sold it the next week. In high anticipation for it, I hand cast/loaded several combinations of .38/.357 plus while at the store, I picked up a couple boxes of .38 just to shoot so I could build up my .38 brass pile. What a huge disappointment this rifle is...I might as well have bought a bolt action or single shot in .38. Chambering .38's was a joke let alone trying to cycle one round after another, did not matter the bullet profile. After fussing and fighting with it, I was finally able to get some rounds down range...I threw them.

      Mine showed up and the Allen key for the spur extension came out of the package and gouged the hell out of the butt stock….called marlin and they send a new one no problem. Fast forward a week and I handed it to my friend and first thing he noticed was forearm was cracked right at the barrel band, due to poor QC on assembly. Fit and finish is maybe worse (certainly equal) to the Remington made marlin’s…please note the Remington made versions were 1/2 the cost. I think ruger banked on the hype and basically released the Remington quality manufacturing knowing the hype was to see some fantastically better manufacturing. Serious disappointment to read the story of feeding issues. I was going to sell my jj 44 mag but know I reckon I better keep it and sell the ruger made .357….start searching for a clean Jm in other calibers! #ruger #rugerfirearms #rugermarlin you should be ashamed to put this garbage on the showroom floor! Seriously poor form!

    Ive had mine for maybe a week now and its given me no issues. I knew id have to really work the lever to have it feed and eject but the first couple shells i didnt have my technique down yet. Now I am running this thing empty in no time. The quality is very good. The only thing i did notice was the two screws on the sides of the receiver wanted to loosen so I removed them and put on blue loctite. Money well spent and now I have a odd yet functional gun.

If a man or group of men can take away a God Given human right from anyone for any reason, its not a right, only a privilege. And that is the foundation of all the gun owners woes to date. When the got people to lay down and accept the disarming of 10's of millions of people, that opened the door to all the problems we currently face.

These look pretty smooth out of the box. Honestly, I would be interested in one of these in the 28" barrel. Would be fun to do some upland bird hunting with!

    I made a run at this with the stock spring and still cant close the breech with the spring cut even with the tube. Not sure if if would have to do with the gauge of the spring or a difference in tube lengths but i come up about a 1/4 inch shy of being able to fully close it at that length. I estimate that the 6th shell needs a little over a half inch of insertion into the tube to fully close.

    • @markniekranz671
      @markniekranz671 Před 4 měsíci

      Update on my own comment: you will need a replacement spring as the stock one is too thick of gauge. Bought a Brownells generic, clipped it to length, and magic!

    • @markniekranz671
      @markniekranz671 Před 3 měsíci

      @@patrickedwards7107 All you need is the lighter magazine spring, as the stock spring will not compress enough to load the 6th shell. Cut it to length per his instruction and should be gold! Easy upgrade and I have had zero issues.

    All of these replicas come from 1 place and i can tell its it not Italy or Europe but from China. Products made in China can be amazing if the quality control is done well and in the case of this gun its done very well its works 100% out of the box. But one thing i never understood: The original 1887 is made for 2 5/8 or 67mm cases as max but 70mm shells work pretty okay without massive lever force but none of the replicas has ever been scaled up to modern 2 3/4 shells. Put a original 1887 next to this gun and u see its 100% the same size in terms of dimension and it has metric treaths (china) and some diffence related to carrier form and hammer markings where u put ure thumb. These are not bad copies at all..................But how crazy and stupid i sound i trust a genuine 1887 more in function if u have one that has little use and wear and a tight lock up and good barrel. A 1887 wont blow up from the use of smokeless powder,if they did then my gun would of been of toast... and i fired alot of hot ammo in it including 1oz 1750fps slugs......
