I have screws on my ultra light aircraft struts that need to come out without damaging thin 6061 aluminum. Heat is NOT an option. So I came here and found your vid. I will try this, with acetone first as I have that in the shop. If that doesn’t work I’ll try CRC brake cleaner. Thanks… this info is a godsend!
Wonder if this can damage my cerakote
Probably wouldn't do much. But report back if you try it
@@AdrianMorse42069 No issues, had to heat the muzzle devise first then use the cleaner to clean the threads.
I bought this same model on Temu for 88 bucks. Downside of this smoke machine is it has no regulator just a flow rate knob so you have to be super careful testing evapcsyste
Great Video!
Hey bro I did mine watching this video but my steering wheel feels stiff, I did alignment already…
Did you make sure to bleed the system fully?
Yes, people are telling me that’s how 2015+ steering rack feels because it’s more tight than 2014 steering rack…
Whered you get the headlights from?
eBay. They are Toyota Hilux mirrors
Ooo thank you! What about the headlights? The circular ones? Whered you get them from? Qnd what type of tape did you use for the headlights?
@@christiango604 they are from a 70s Volvo 240
Aww, a fellow BBC-ian! Love from Comox!
I just bought these exact mirrors how to you adjust the arms on them can’t seem to get them to rotate
You need to loosen the screw to rotate the mirrors and then you can pull the arm and rotate at the same time. There should be a spring that holds it to the base.
Thank you for your video bud
Could you not use a magnet ?
Maybe! I never tried that but it could be an easier way for sure
This video is all whacked out you dont have to cut pinch welds and he used to much RTV,i suggest you watch @xterra robs install video for more clarity...
It depends. Some Nissan's have welds you need to cut and some don't. And this is definitely not too much rtv. Xterra rob is the OG for sure though.
Did your oil all gunked up from so much RTV,That's a awful lot
Way too much oil. One dab woth your finger is all you need
How far up the strut do you need to cut?
try Vaping glycerin, 100VG ! or any glycerin
Here me out. It's videos like this that pisses me off for not being prepared and following through blindly. I made my own box, cause I couldn't get one cheap enough. It worked out, but took WAAAAY longer than it should have, if I could've visualized the dimensions of the box. Cobb's instructions aren't as helpful, because they're broad. In hindsight, this video would've been a lifesaver. So if there's a lesson to be learned, do you're homework first.
Hey I wanna open a motor that has been tightened using locktite now I don't have access to threads so will it still work ?
Might be difficult. Sounds like a situation where you'd be able to use some heat?
💯
Quico question do you need the access port of you get the cold air intake system??
It's highly recommended
Sounds like a diesel to me😅
Looks goox to me, and it works so you win😊
Yeah, I have torn those out before.

perchloroethylene is a chlorinated solvent used in a variety of processes as a solvent and degreaser. PCE is a halogenated organic compound composed of 2 atoms of carbon and 4 atoms of chlorine (two chlorine atoms linked to each carbon)
IPD does sell mass airflow sensors that don't work in the 240 that's the only disappointment I've experienced with IPD. Haha
Dude get a tripod. my gosh i'm getting motion sickness
23:40 I use the same PermaTex Ultra Grey on all my oil pan gaskets - people don't always like the 24 hour cure time, but it's worth it. I've never had a leak and some of the gaskets are several years old at this point. Holds up as good as the seal from the factory did. Great video and thanks for sharing this. I looked at my neighbor's Xterra who wanted his oil pan leak addressed - figured it was at the end seals like yours leaked, too, that's what it looks like. Not a fun job to do, it seems, but not awful either.
Don't know if you work on Two stroke dirt bikes or ever have...but i have an intake leak causing my bike to run lean and drives up my rpms radically. I feel like this might work to find if i have a seal or gasket leak. Ever tried that or know anyone who has?
It would probably work for that
I just purchased a replacement mirror assembly for my 285. Wish I would’ve known I’d need one 4 years ago. I could have bought yours.
Stretching tires is completely moronic. Y don't u camber it out while ur at it, make it drive completely on the sidewall. Less traction and ruin the integrity of the skin! Stupid dangerous but it looks cool and that's what matters right. F'ing Billy backyard!
I went 1.75 from the down pipe to a small basic 4 cylinder style muffler and I got an unmatchable sound profile, I took the 245 to an exhaust shop with just a down pipe on it and had them do the work it was well worth 350$
The muffler also needs to be in the rear muffler position for optimal performance and for N/A b230s it needs to be 1.75
This looks like oil starvation. You mentioned oil dilution? Using e85?
It was about to be tuned on e85. Oil pressure was always good. At least that's what the sensor was telling me
Ok then oil dilution wasn't the problem. And if you're not on e85 I assume you're hp and tq aren't that high which means your light weight pulley wasn't the cause either. After watching the video again I take back my oil starvation comment. Oil starvation causes heat and all your rods and crank show zero signs of heat. Notice how all the rod bearings are bad on the piston side of them? This is from knock/pre detonation. I'm going to guess that your main bearings are fine which is another sign that the rod bearing failure is from knocking
One more thing, if you're going on e85 it's time to get rid of that light weight crank pulley. No easier time to do that when it's apart 😅
@@jimmyram89 yeah it's not going back on. I could very well have had a faulty knock sensor. The only time it registered any knock was when it shut off during a dyno pull and then when restarted that's when you could hear it knocking. Pistons also show no signs of detonation.
What did you do?? Bad mods???
I'm not an expert by any means but I'm sure the lightweight pulley caused some issues. Maybe some fuel dilution to the oil and the lack of harmonic dampening wore out the bearings and they finally gave out on the dyno
Junk
THANK YOU
Ok, but the 2 nut trick pulling the stud was more cool for me then loctite hack. Brakecleaner or carb cleaner has the good nasty shit in it zylene etc that ever state an canada trying to banned works also.
This is great bro thanks
Will it also work on blue Loctite?
It should also work but blue is meant to be removed without any heat or chemical
@@AdrianMorse42069 yeah but the way that I used the blue Loctite it’s very difficult to remove the piece..
Nice vid
Which solvent should I use to clean the dried Loctite on the screw threads with the wire brush?
How long would you say it roughly took for you to drop the diff and oil pan?
Maybe a couple hours. But I got lucky and none of the bolts fought me. I soaked them for a few days beforehand with PB. It's really not that difficult. Just awkward lowering the diff down.
@@AdrianMorse42069 right on thanks man. I’m gonna be doing this on the weekend. Pre soaking everything this week aswell
Thanks you're video worked for my frontier except I had a transmission jack still had to use boards tho
How do you know the difference between the supercharged and regular radiator? Like the specs to differentiate? I replaced w the standard one but it starts to get hot on long steep grades especially during summer on was wondering if the supercharged would keep it cool. Let me know thanks 🙏🏼
The supercharged radiator has a thicker core. If you follow the link in the description it should take you to the right radiator. Or if you ask a parts store for one for a supercharged model it should be the thicker core.
Dang what causes this? My 09 sti has 88k miles. Just put the Cobb intake and full turbo back with accessport tune. Hope my engine doesn’t have issues
My guess is poor lubrication in my case. My oil had a good smell of fuel which I think diluted the oil just enough to keep it from lubricating the bearings enough. Was probably fine at the low rpms I usually drove at but when it was hitting the limiter on the dyno it couldn't handle it any more.
Absolute genius. Take my money, pretty please?
If you get the steering rack meant for the RA, you don’t need the Cusco brace or the Whiteline bushing kit-the brace is the same thickness and the bushings are stiffer than the non RA.
That's good to know!
Can I put that rack in my 12 wrx sedan
I just did it to my truck it's time consuming but it wasn't really awful
Been troubleshooting a po302 on my 2006 stock sti. Numerous issues.
Get ready for the pedal assembly
Stupidly easy on a 2002 Naturally Aspirated 3.3L V6. Since I have a manual transmission it was even easier - no transmission lines to disconnect/reconnect. I put in a radiator for an automatic because I got one for $60 on RockAuto. The ports where the transmission lines would hook up came with plugs on them (not that it would matter - they form an isolated loop in the radiator.) Also, no need to remove the battery. I did remove the coolant overflow reservoir, but mostly because I also replaced the overflow hose. The radiator fill funnel worked great, as well. I got one with a little ball valve on it instead of the plug on a handle, but it’s the same concept. Pretty sure it took me longer to watch the video than to do the work, which is NEVER usually the case. Basically everything else I have had to do on this thing has taken 2-3x longer than I think, because between Nissan making some stupid decisions on a lot of things & me being an idiot, well… Thank you for the walkthrough! It made this an absolute breeze. I probably could have kept rocking my JB Weld patch on the upper plastic housing for months or years, but with how cheap radiators are for these, it gives me peace of mind to know it won’t become a problem again down the line. Keep up the good work!
