Chase Webster, born as Gary Daniel Bruce on December 23, 1938, in Franklin, Tennessee, was an American singer and songwriter. His musical career spanned from the late 1950s to the late 1980s. He enjoyed local success and had hits in the southern states. Chase also wrote the song ‘Moody River,’ which later became well-known in Pat Boone’s version. After his musical career, he retired to a farm just outside his hometown of Franklin.
‘Moody River’ is an intriguing song that takes the listener to a melancholic place. It describes a river that is both beautiful and mysterious. The lyrics suggest that something tragic happened on the riverbank, but the details remain vague. The singer wonders why his beloved is no longer with him and longs for answers.

Chase Webster, geboren als Gary Daniel Bruce op 23 december 1938 in Franklin, Tennessee, was een Amerikaanse zanger en songwriter. Zijn muzikale carrière strekte zich uit van de late jaren 50 tot de late jaren 80. Hij genoot lokaal succes en had hits in de zuidelijke staten. Chase schreef ook het nummer “Moody River”, dat later bekend werd in de versie van Pat Boone. Na zijn muzikale carrière trok hij zich terug op een boerderij net buiten zijn geboorteplaats Franklin.

      Graag gedaan Sjoerd. Erg leuk dat je de Bee Gees hebt ontdekt. In een interview met het tijdschrift Billboard in 2001 vertelde Barry Gibb dat "How Deep Is Your Love" zijn favoriete Bee Gees-nummer is. Bedankt voor jouw mooie compliment voor mijn versie ervan op gitaar. Zelf vind ik trouwens "Tragedy" ook een geweldig nummer.
