Silver Couloir - Party Skiing A Colorado Classic
Silver Couloir is a 3000 foot continuous ski descent off the iconic Buffalo Mountain, and one of the 50 Classic Ski Descents.
I drove out to Colorado with the idea I would boulder for a few days, then fly to Vancouver for a strike mission, then back to CO for my Alpine Guide Course. When I arrived I saw plenty snow still plastered the mountain tops. Lacking a ski partner, my friend Ian connected my with two of his friends who he said were crushers. We made a plan to ski Silver and met up the evening before to look at weather. Between the wild clouds, scenic summit, and party ski down excellent corn, it turned out to be an epic day. In those conditions, rope not necessary. Those landings were wider and cleaner than the entry you had already skied.
I don’t know if you could tell in the video but I was right at the ends of my rope so it was a 30m rappel. The landing was also on a spine above another small ice bulge and the gully curves. Yes it could be dropped, but if I fell I could’ve died, so too much risk for me. Maybe someone else.
Enjoy your videos a lot. I would enjoy them more if you'd stop dropping F bombs. It really isn't necessary to express your excitement.

Do you know where the other side entrances end up on Tomba? Seems like there is one next to the waterfall trail, one of the middle of tombas and waterfall, and one that goes to the side right at the entrance of tombas.
They all kinda go out to Perry Merrill. Though the first one right next to waterfall kinda goes through a weird valley under the zip line

It’s funny when you start out and tucks is like a huge epic. Everyone has an interesting first time in Tucks story. Then years later you start doing multi ravine tours and it just becomes the icing on the cake run back to the parking lot.
I think the horrendous noises coming from my shattered camera lens definitely adds character to a few of those clips

Thank you! I think I’ve got all I can get for the season. I have 4 lines left on the North side of the range, 7 total. Currently all of them are melted out except for Stovepipe, which I’m saving. Middle Sister might still be skiable but I know I can get that line in better conditione

Dude we’ve got an awesome ski mountaineering scene and a similar snowpack to the Sierra. Obviously not nearly as much terrain, but I’ve been cracking away at the guidebook intentionally and still haven’t got em all so there’s plenty !

We were on the top of Saddleback and it was so incredible. We also saw the wall of darkness racing at us. The whole thing is so hard to describe to people who didn’t see it. Everyone thinks we’re crazy 😂
Yes! I know people who saw it in the 90 % range and think that totality couldn’t be much cooler. It’s so wild what a difference it makes
