This was/is a magnificent production. I watched it when it was first broadcast on British TV and was mesmerised. I am a Classicist and have read Sophocles in Greek - this production taught me more about the play than reading any number of academic articles about it.

I remember seeing this so vividly - absolutely amazing staging. We were on the moving Platform Seating and when the whole Set moved, it felt so so real.

I can remember watching this very episode with the late great Barry Norman, cant believe that it's almost 40 years since it was aired. Thank you so much for this video it brought back wonderful memories of happier days.

In Canada the rather deep drop into the Broc would be fenced off. In Britain and Europe there seems to be a sensible few that if you're such a twit to not notice a 20 foot shear drop you are a rather waste of oxygen.
