Didn’t know that bear 🐻 understands the word “NO” 🤭🤭🤭 My whole life was a lie moment 😅😅😅
excellent, thank you!
Bout to ride a scooter to Alaska camping so I need 12 cans spray ready at all times. JC I'm gonna look like Rambo with bear spray strapped, fkn cananda no guns, no funs,
Outstanding video. Best I've seen on the subject of technique.
I use 44 mag/12gauge slug bear spray
Bear Lives Matter! Yours Don't!
How about, we just to go in a bears backyard........
@6:18 Lay flat ? Other bear experts say fetal position with arms and hands protecting neck. My bear spray will be duck taped between the center tines of my pitch fork.
Okay. A grizzly can charge at 35 mph. That is 51 fps. If your spray has an effective range of 30 feet, that means you can't affect change in that bear's behavior until it is half a second from you. If you expect the bear to be able to stop or divert in half a second, you're probably going to be disappointed. We must distinguish between determined aggressive behavior and displayed annoyance. If a bear is determined to remove you as a threat, there will likely be little or no warning. If, or likely, when as a bear's nose is 7 times better than a bloodhound's, the bear detects you first, it is going to circle to your flank. Bears are ambush predators. You'll hear crashing to one side, and if the bear is within 50 yards, it will be on top of you in under 3 seconds. Momentum alone will carry it through 30 feet so if you can't begin to affect change in the bear's behavior until this point, it is too late. Standing, stomping, raking, popping jaws, huffing, and bluff charges are not determined aggression. These are the behaviors bear spray can be useful in, though a bear displaying these annoyance behaviors is offering you a way to avoid conflict by retreating, so it is probably best you simply leave the area.
I’ll want the 5 gallon size sprayer if I’m ever in bear country.
I carry spray, but I'd definitely rather have a 12 guage.
No mentions about the .. 5th scenario. The case when you're downwind and your spray would return in your face even before the bear gets there. How can one handle this situation?
OK, I've watched the video. I understand the game plan. I've found the best bear spray money can buy. I know how to spray effectively to repel the bear. My only remaining question is, how many bears have watched the video and understand their part in all this???
What if we encounter 3 bears and one hides while you use all your spray on the other two?
That was boring shit.
if a bear is standing that close, it's already decided it doesn't want to kill you. back away slowly and leave it alone. So sick of bear defense tips from people that don't know the first thing about bears. You won't see the bear that's going to attack you until it's far too late unless you're stupid and provoke it. with say... bear spray. Bears are predators, they hunt like big cats, stay out of dense growth, give them space. Don't provoke them. A bear that's decided to attack, if you have time for bear spray, it won't do a thing.
Better hope it's not windy.
You should always hike with someone you can outrun 😂.
BEST VIDEO ON THE INTERNET THAT IVE FOUND!!! Thank you!!
lol bear dont understand NO or stop jus spray lol
I simply cannot believe how cooperative that bear was in the making of the video. I hope it was compensated for its time.
Most charges are bluff charges. If spray is used during a bluff charge, then the spray obtains the credit for the bear stopping. However, some charges are determined by your confidence level and any loud, or otherwise alerting behavior you exhibit. So, be loud, make yourself.appear larger if you can, and keep eye contact.
Instead of no, I will Say GUSTO! Gusto!!
A Ruger Redhawk revolver chambered in 45 Colt, with Underwood Ammo's 250 grain Xtreme Penetrator rounds. It is a six shot revolver (Revolvers do not fail to extract or fail to feed, and they will still work if and when pressed into a bears ribs) which is plenty of ammo to get the job done. The 45 Colt also has light recoil for easy follow-up shots. Go to one knee and shot for the bear's brain. Bear spray is only good for curious bears, not ones that are in full attack mode. There are too many things that have to align in one's favor for bear spray to work on their behalf, of which practice could never make up for if things are not lined up in their favor. I would get the pistol at ready first, and then if there is time to opt for bear spray I would do so. But the pistol would always be the first line of defense against a bear.
If I’ve got a bear charging me, I’m probably going to use stronger language than, “NO!!” as I’m deploying my bear spray😂
I’ll practice practice practice but I can’t because that’s 150 dollars just for 3 practices. I can’t even afford 1 practice😢
There is a YT Video of 3 Hunters who all had Bear Spray, they emptied all 3 cans and the Grizzly Ate all 3 alive.....! BEAR SPRAY DOES NOT WORK.......!
If a bear wants to kill you Bear Spray does not Work!!. A Bear can runs at 25MPH. The only thing that will stop a bear is a 10MM period!.
How well will this work if the bear is upwind of you in a 20 mph wind? It won't be the bear that gets incapacitated.
Hey is this guy still alive...hes got skill. I forget how to defend against bears again?
Check out Justin hiking and his 36 day hike up the Great Divide trail in Canada. He got charged by a Grizzly and deployed his Bear spray successfully. Great video- thank you
And you absolutely need to circle around so you are upwind from the bear so the wind won’t blow the spray back on you instead of the bear! OOPS, you are too late! Also bring some salt. That way the bear can fully season his lunch!
thankyou so much this video was so helpful by the far the best i could find
This is scarier than The Exorcist
Excellent defensive training for a bear contact and protection!
This information is good b u t in grizzly or brown bear country have some heavy Firepower for backup
Great educational video for everyone. Concise and to the point. I live in Black Bear and Coyote ONLY country. Since thankfully we don't get Grizzly's, Brown Bear or Mountain Lion here. The act of making loud noises every half mile while out hiking before a bear even sees you. Is often most effective for it to move on and avoid you. However, if you do come across a Black Bear that isn't scared off by the noise you make and standing your ground. That is when the bear spray WILL become the most effective tool you can have shy of a gun. Black bear are often far more timid than Grizzly or Brown Bear. Also, these spray's will work on Coyotes to. For example, if your out hiking with your dog i think it's a good measure to keep bear spray on you because it will work on them as well. I've even heard it being effective against Mountain Lion. So it's really a win win to have it on you while out in the woods or hiking in the mountains. Personally, my jack russell wears a bear bell but he is always leashed i don't let him free run in these wild outdoor situations. I also carry my bear spray and a loud air horn in two hip holsters. Along with a loud coast guard whistle around my neck for emergency distress calling. Along with a walking stick that has very sharp serrated teeth around the bottom circular portion. Which you can use to jab with. And yes folks as a last resort those teeth if aimed properly at a predators eye would do some serious damage. In my area i'm probably over prepared more than under. Since we only have Coyote and occasional Black Bear as i stated above. But better to be safe than sorry.
law enforcement always has lethal backup when using pepper spray or tasers. Just sayin.
Even hearing loss? What kind of spray is that???😂
the VHS format makes me laugh more.
When I was alone I saw a huge grizzly bear. I forgot what to do with my bear spray. I panicked and threw the can at him. He threw it back at me.
Timithy Treadwell has entered the chat.
Nice so the bear 🐻 will understand English by saying NO NO NO 😂
FOC 5.3 IS WAY WAY more powerful then any bear spray
The visuals are super helpful, thank you
Came up in my feed from watching so many Van life camping videos. Thank you kind Sir for posting this!
