      @@johnholmes9837 That's a very good point. I think it's to turn them off while shipping, so they don't light up and go flat until you put them in your garden. After installation we don't really need the switch as it's on all the time. In fact it gets in the way, and corrodes until it stops working. I understand that's a popular view. But i think we need to have a more nuanced view about it. We know man has not been on earth for much more than 6,000 years, yes. But that doesn't preclude earth being older than man. "in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth". It doesn't say "in the beginning, God created man". The bible allows for the earth to be older than man if Genesis is read correctly 🙂

    35:46 - This is a really funny and sneaky one. The graph gives the impression that solar activity is the big influence on climate, which could be completely true... thousands of years ago when there was minimal or no human human activity. Believe it or not, Ancient Egyptian weren't putting out billions of tons of CO2 every year into the atmosphere. Human industrialization starts 300 years ago, that's not on the graph. If you take a recent graph, it's very easy to see a disconnect between solar irradiance and temperature. Quite literally, the sun is calming down, but the temperature is going up. This is particularly noticeable after 1980s when the Sun started to calm down, and funnily enough, Martin Durkin actually used a graph like that in his older movie from the 2000s where he carefully placed a graph that stopped exactly at 1980, and then was called out by the authors of the study and played dumb. The dude is fraud. At 36:18 you can see this very clearly by looking at the spikes on the blue line. If the Sun was the main driving force, the red a blue spikes should be matched, or at least the red ones should start slightly before the blue ones. Instead, we get the blue spikes starting slightly before the red ones, meaning the climate got hotter by something else, since increased solar activity can't retroactively warm up the planet. Even more, there are plenty of points where both decouple, and as you can see on the tail end, after 1980 the climate temperature goes up quite sharply, but solar activity GOES DOWN.

  • @ggwp638BC
    @ggwp638BC Před 5 měsíci

    10:20 - The point made about climate change is not that the Earth has a set ideal temperature, but how fast it's changing. Of course the climate has fluctuations - a half of a degree Celsius. It takes millions of years for a multiple degrees of change. A degree in thousands of years is a brutal change in the climate that follows mass extinctions. We made a 1ºC change in about 100 to 200 years. Not thousands. In the graph at 12:55 you can see that the X column marks less than 1 degree changes. That's how little it fluctuates, and how these fluctuations are still capable of creating world shaping climates. Now look at the tail end of the graph: notice how it changes from very minor gradual fluctuations with a trend downwards or upwards, to very sharp jumps? Just in the last 200 years of the graph we can see a 0.5ºC change, it's the biggest spike we see in this time period. And if we take the last 300 years, it's a 0.8ºC spike. Ignore the red and blue markings as if blue is "cold" and red is "hot", what matters here is how fast things are changing, and as the graph shows they are changing very, very fast and very closely linked to increased human activity, mainly industrialization and burning fossil fuels. From the peak of the Medieval Warm Period to the Little Ice Age we have 800 years. We nearly made the bounce back in 1/4 of that time frame. Think of it like this: you can take an airplane and slowly build up speed, take flight and then reach Mach 1 and your body will be fine. So long as the acceleration is gradual and paced over time. But if you get strapped to a rocket and go 0 - Mach 1 in 1 second, your body would get smashed like a potato. Warming the Earth by 1ºC takes A LOT of energy. We are talking cosmic levels of energy. So the danger of climate change isn't that 1ºC, but how fast we accumulated all that energy to make that 1ºC and the backlash we will get from it - on top of all other species we need to survive and their difficult adapting to it.

    • @ggwp638BC
      @ggwp638BC Před 5 měsíci

      At 18:56, look at the graph, ignore, for a moment, the value. Look at the trend. Regardless if land temperatures rose faster, as we can see, ocean temperatures ARE ALSO RISING. So if you agree with the documentary that ocean measurements are safe from urban development and other data contaminations - CONGRATULATIONS! You found clear proof that temperatures are steadily rising, to the point that in the last 200 we warmed the oceans (and do consider the ocean is a MASSIVE body of water, so picture how much energy you need to warm it) by a whole 1ºC.

    • @ggwp638BC
      @ggwp638BC Před 5 měsíci

      Again at 19:18. Look at the graph. Look at the trend. While there are fluctuations, there is a slow but steady rise in temperature. This isn't a recovery, this is the climate getting hotter.

    • @ggwp638BC
      @ggwp638BC Před 5 měsíci

      22:18 - Just Google "NASA Earth Temperature" and you can see data straight from NASA itself supporting the climate change theory and how much the Earth has warmed in the past 200 years.

      @@SatansDonkey666 No, we don't get these sharp turns at all. Galactical scales are way longer, or would simply cook the planet. And no, it's not man made, in the sense that all humans are responsible, nor is oppression of people the solution. The personal responsibility propaganda is promoted by companies trying to shift the blame, just like fake documentaries like these. The responsibility falls on the shoulders of very few companies and governments and while change is hard we can make MASSIVE improvements without changing anyone's lifestyle. And while some countries, mainly the US, have lifestyles that are simply unsustainable in every possible sense, the necessary changes are basically all beneficial and most have to do with curbing government and company's control over people's lives.

    • @fakenewts4211
      @fakenewts4211 Před 4 měsíci

      In the graph at 11:40 you can see that a transition from a glacial maximum to a glacial minimum may involve a temperature rise of 10-20ºC (twenty degrees) in a few hundred years. That happened at the beginning of the current interglacial period (the Holocene). That dwarfs anything in the past century or two. In reality the temperature of the Earth is range bound. The higher it gets, the more rapidly it radiates into space, and the cooler it gets, the less it radiates. It's self correcting. Human activity may result in a marginally higher equilibrium, mostly beneficial.

    Persistent westerly winds have also dragged the current in one direction for over 20 years, increasing the speed and size of the clockwise current and preventing the fresh water from leaving the Arctic Ocean. This decades long western wind is unusual for the region, where previously, the winds changed direction every five to seven year Scientists have been keeping an eye on the Beaufort Gyre in case the wind changes direction again. If the direction were to change, the wind would reverse the current, pulling it counterclockwise and releasing the water it has accumulated all at once "If the Beaufort Gyre were to release the excess fresh water into the Atlantic Ocean, it could potentially slow down its circulation. And that would have hemisphere wide implications for the climate, especially in Western Europe," said Tom Armitage, lead author of the study and polar scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California Fresh water released from the Arctic Ocean to the North Atlantic can change the density of surface waters. Normally, water from the Arctic loses heat and moisture to the atmosphere and sinks to the bottom of the ocean, where it drives water from the north Atlantic Ocean down to the tropics like a conveyor belt. This important current is called the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation and helps regulate the planet's climate by carrying heat from the tropically warmed water to northern latitudes like Europe and North America. If slowed enough, it could negatively impact marine life and the communities that depend on it "We don't expect a shutting down of the Gulf Stream, but we do expect impacts. That's why we're monitoring the Beaufort Gyre so closely," said Alek Petty, a co-author on the paper and polar scientist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. The study also found that Beaufort Gyre is out of balance because of the added energy from the wind, the current expels that excess energy by forming small, circular eddies of water. While the increased turbulence has helped keep the system balanced, it has the potential to lead to further ice melt because it mixes layers of cold, fresh water with relatively warm, salt water below. The melting ice could, in turn, lead to changes in how nutrients and organic material in the ocean are mixed, significantly affecting the food chain and wildlife in the Arctic. The results reveal a delicate balance between wind and ocean as the sea ice pack recedes under climate change. "What this study is showing is that the loss of sea ice has really important impacts on our climate system that we're only just discovering," said Petty. Before rolling the handkerchief turn it over and then roll. This will make it slightly easier to roll. Works wonders on a bus with some young kids on it where there is a language barrier

    Forget replacing switch take the two wires and solder together putting electrical tape over them. Switch is actually only necessary for initial charging.

      That's exactly what I did after the last switch stopped working. I even managed joining the wires without unscrewing the unit. Much easier, faster and cheap, too! 😁

      Good point... 🤔 The shelf and all other parts,were taken out through the back so never came close to the bed. Plus I never really considered the hazard, as I needed to get the job done. Thanks for watching.

      @TimHollingworth Před 11 měsíci

      Ooh, that sounds like a job for the professionals! Maybe some internal mechanism has worn-out. They are complicated pieces of equipment, way beyond my help. So sorry, hope it doesn't cost too much to fix. 😧

    • @cancermoonasmr

      I got it fixed I sent it into Sigma and it cost 300 not too bad since I only bought it for 160 @@TimHollingworth

    I have a torch like this. I'm getting ideas for it when it kicks the bucket. Might make a hand torch out of it. Looks like the guts and battery are well protected inside.

    That clever you should burn the branches that are infected

  • @Johny40Se7en
    @Johny40Se7en Před rokem

    Interesting to see how a team deals with the cutting down of an infected tree. But instead of using wood chippers on site to dice the branches and creating mulch - which is often good for local wildlife and nutrients for the ground - wouldn't it be better to burn those branches, to stop flying insects from going through the mulch of the diseased wood, then spreading it, or having the wind carrying the fungal spores to other trees? Prevention is better than cure as they say... I read recently that there is a really small chance that Ash trees can bounce back if they're managed very carefully. It's just a shame that local council and non reputable tree surgeons just seem like they couldn't care less, and don't go the distance trying to save as many of them as possible here in Britain. They'd rather just chop them down for free fire wood and use an excuse that it's a danger to the public, even though there could be no road or footpath anywhere nearby. They act like utter lazy, brain dead imbeciles sometimes aye 🤨🥴
