RDS-3 Soviet atomic bomb test (1951)
RDS-3 was the third atomic bomb developed by the Soviet Union in 1951, after the RDS-1 and RDS-2. It was called Marya in the military. The bomb had a composite design with a plutonium core inside a uranium shell, providing an explosive power of 41.2 kilotons.

This is the world's most popular video about the hydrogen bomb! On 22 November 1955, the Soviet Union conducted its first hydrogen bomb test, code-named RDS-37, at the Semipalatinsk Test Site. The RDS-37 was dropped from a Tupolev Tu-16 bomber and detonated at an altitude of 1550 m with a yield of 1.6 Megatons.

If you can find any information on the hydrogen bomb tests performed by the USSR there is the Ivan , which some footage exists but is being mixed up with the tsar. One detonated on an island one in Siberia. The tsar however had no triple halo effect and was the Ivan. Detonated in Siberia with three halos breaching atmosphere with the mushroom with a five hundred mile bass of the mushroom said to be the biggest cover up of nuclier accidents as the lines of spectators were in 150 and 300 miles . @@balintsalgo4033 The cameras I believe are mounted on fixed spots, often shielded with metal and other materials for those located closest to the blast.
@@CarlosAM1 - So they were cruel to the extreme - by not shielding the guys as well! Some people here, in the comments, say that in the more complete version, the same guys were on their feet the next moment - so why shield the camera?) If you had seen a lot of bomb shots, you would know what I was pointing at...
@@balintsalgo4033 I said the cameras closest to the blast are often shielded. I do not know if this camera had some sort of shielding or even if it was handheld, however I do know this test resulted in the death of a soldier that suffocated to death as a trench collapsed, a little girl that died after a building collapsed due to the explosion and injured several other people nearby.

Fairly impressive, but 60+ yrs. later we can't stop a roadside bomb made out of a $30 cell phone, or a zealot looking for those virgins he heard about.
