Anyone living outside of the US knows the media in the US rarely covers much international events or news unless they involve an American. With the almost incessant election season, seemingly lasting from the end of one to the finish of the next, it's hard to get the media to pay attention.

Giving Greek names to Ukrainian places was part of a policy to wipe out Ukrainian, Crimean history. That is how Khajibay became Odesa, Akhtiar became Sevastopol, Aqmescit became Simferopol etc. Same tactics each time: reduce once flourishing city to rubles, replace survivors with their military, pay Italian / French / German architects to build something fancy looking, always give it ancient Greek name or name of one it's tsars, and voilà - "this place was always russian, and we, the old ancient civilization of russia, that actually emerged in XVIII, back then had connections with Rome and Greece, while there never was any Ukraine or Crimea with their millenia roots and culture..."

More haunting for me personally was not the footage of the decapitated girl Joe refers to, but that of the woman I presume to be her mother reacting to what just happened. The sound a mother makes when she learns her child is dead is like no other sound a human can produce. It seems too many people have muted such videos, otherwise our governments wouldn’t be giving sanctuary to Russia to launch such attacks.
