Thank you for reacting to Dimash. He was offered a position as a tenor in Astana Opera, but he turned it down to pursue his own musical path which he called it neo-classical crossover. Thank God he didn’t just accept the job and sing only opera. Otherwise how would the rest of the world, like us, know about him? Just fyi There is no reason to state that Dimash did not know this before if u dont know for sure. He spent over 20 years learning to sing many songs and I dont believe he did not know this. When he is a judge at other people's performances he knows what they are singing and you can see him "singing" silently with them. See him sing Brahms lullaby at his house in L A at 3am when he couldn't sleep and Queen of the Night aria in a stairwell, as a joke, with Crazy Max. Obviously he knows many more classical songs than we have heard.

Dimash wants to sing all kinds of songs and styles and does not want to be put into a box. But yes, me personally, I would love to hear more opera from Dimash. Many "pure" opera singers don't like Dimash's opera because he does not choose to sing "exactly" like the author of the song intended each specific note in exactly how it is "supposed" to be sung BUT that is not the point of singing. To be exactly the same as the next guy singing the same song is the reason Dimash did not become a professional opera singer. He wanted to be free to express himself and design the song as he wished. So, the same with this performance of this very famous duet. Dimash brings a freshness and absolute beauty to the same old same old. It makes my ears very happy. 🥰

It was a dream come true for Dimash to be invited by Domingo to do a duet with him. Dimash had fantasized about doing such a duet from the age of 5 and it was just by chance that they made a connection in Budapest at the same time and Domingo told Dimash that his 18-year old grandson had introduced Dimash to him and that he was so impressed. I consider this duet to be a kind of "passing of the torch."
