Awesome! I still haven't got one. Mainly because ive always managed to brace, but I haven't pushed myself either. Definitely going hard this year!
Using brace to avoid capsize is even better than combat rolls!
@JennyZhang42 Yes, but I still want that mental confidence that I can nail rolls in current. Agree that bracing is better though.
@@michaelcarter3149 I think there are two parts for successful combats rolls. 1. working on solid rolls 2. mental confidence and commitment to roll. Set up a rule, like try 3 rolls before giving up. I sometimes first attempt failed and rolled up on the second attempt.
@JennyZhang42 ya I completely agree. I can do them, I just need to get comfortable underwater again. It's always when you rush that it will fail.
Thanks for the comments. Happy to hear it’s helpful. It’s still open to public. You can open the gate without key
This is the only Parks Ranch Cave video I have found that's worth watching, for a couple of reasons: (1) the light is bright enough to show the interior, and (2) your trek is slow enough to let viewers get a good perspective of its interior height and width. Congrats. I recall that the path was wider when I was in there, but that's how memory can play tricks. 🙂 Is it still open to the public, or have they gated it off with lock and key, like they have for nearly every other wild cave (using "wilderness preservation" as an excuse)?
Why isn’t preserving natural resources a justified reason for restricting access to caves? And also, many caves with gates are open to the public, if you know where to look or who to contact. Many caves in Lincoln National Forest are open to the public as long as you have a permit; some of these include Sitting Bull Falls Cave, Cottonwood Cave, and Hell Below Cave. Similarly, nearby Carlsbad Caverns National Park has 8 backcountry caves open to permit visitation; most of these aren’t even gated. Keep in mind, many of these caves you speak of that have been closed to the public have been closed for specific reasons; installing gates takes time and money, so preemptively building a gate in the entrance to a cave doesn’t make much sense. Many of these caves have suffered from extensive vandalism, contain valuable archeological/paleontological resources, or harbor endangered species.
@@maxduncan9985 Is Parks Ranch Cave (the one in your video) still open to the public as it was when I was there, or have they gated it off?
@@kenthompson5723 It’s still open to the public without reservation; no gates have been installed.
Nice!
Thanks 4 this! Been over a decade since I rafted there... been too smoky in the summers :/
excellent
Cool video. And you have a very fast roll - good for you!
Superwoman
Amazing work! Very inspired watching this.
Thank you!
I have been there a few times I rarely see the monkey's you were lucky on this trip!
The view while snorkeling in the sea is really great! My wife can snorkel too, but she's only played around in the swimming pool before, it looks like we should try it in the sea. It seems I need to learn how to swim, otherwise I would miss a lot of great scenaries...
Really horrible to see you capsized in such a dark, deep cave... Glad to see you rolled up and did not wet exit. Last time when I kayaked in a sea cave a big wave upturned the kayaks of both me and my coach, and both of us wet exit. She was able to get back into her kayak but I was not. I floated in the water for 3 minutes before she was able to come back to the cave and rescue me...
This is something of a real world horror movie. Do you hear the Balrock growling from the back of the cave? Glad that you did not get that far...
Last time I managed to turn my tempest 165 kayak here (in May), although it was not easy. So I thought I could do it this time in Valley Avocet kayak. That’s why I kept trying to turn it until I capsized. Later back paddling out was easier than I thought (and only took 30 seconds)
I think the difference was the tide. Last time we entered was low tide (1ft maybe), this time is 3.5 ft tide.

im exhausted just watching her
Very cool, hoping to learn this soon!
Maybe try to do hand roll using norsaq and try to do it as slowly as possible, it could help to find the correct body position and keeping the head down as long as possible. Your balance brace works fine so it should be just matter of fine tuning that position a bit, basically to start rolling the kayak (with hip movement) just a bit earlier before the upper body starts coming on top of the kayak.
Thanks very much for your input. It's helpful
wonderful
Good job paddlers
You made these rolls look effortless!
Thanks!
really well done. like how you demonstrated your progress in essentially real time. thanks
The cockpit swallowed the paddler!
Yes. This was my first boat. It was definitely too big for me.
I am just beginning to learn to roll. Your videos are very instructional. They showed what worked and what didn't.
Should have used a Greenland paddle. But it is still very chill
Nice! Love the music you added! You gonna add any of the rest of the paddle, all 8 miles of it?
Hi, Heidi! It takes time to edit these videos. I will add more video later. However, my camera ran out of battery in the middle, so maybe I only have 6 miles recording.
I have a lot of kayak video recordings in my computer that I don't have time to edit 😂😂😂
Very nice kayak footage!
Thanks!

What time is the best time to go?
Check the weather before you go. 1. Local Tide Chart, Low Tide is better than High Tide. 2. Sunny day is better than Cloudy. 3. Wind and wave, you can search for the surf condition, the better condition for surfing, the worse for snorkeling. Small wind and wave is preferred!! 4. Warm water. I think between Jun and October is fine, as long as you wear wet suit.
Solid video. Thanks for the upload.
Thanks for stopping by.
just realized that, I didn't do the hip snap during the bow rescue or roll.
Jenny Zhang 噢噢这样啊,那我有些问题能请教你吗?
如果我能够回答当然可以啦。不过我只对第八题纹影摄影实验比较熟悉。
Jenny Zhang 啊哈我能加下你的微信吗?我有个朋友正好在做条纹摄影的东西
Jenny, are you part of 1 of the IYPT teams this year or is there another reasons that you are solving these problems.
(because if you are a participant then why would you upload it on yt)
No, I did this last year as my Physics Experiment 1 project. Because I didn't participant this competition, I just shared my experiment results.
