Great, very soft and angelic! , I like it, has elements of baroque feeling, but romantic also, and more modern, and the synthesis has a unique style to it. Very expressive and devotional feel.
Takk T! Jeg improviserte guttekoret ( 2 høye partier ) til å begynne med og la så til altstemmen og tenorstemmen improvisert i sanntid. Så gikk jeg gjennom og fikset noen steder hvor harmonien ikke fungerte. Morsomt nok synger alle stemmene «Deus Ex Machina»!
Very beautiful! A strange and peculiar musical universe, yet easy to feel at home in. Wonderful instrumentation also, very dynamic and lively music. A grand piece with symphonic qualities in the small scale.
Thank you T ! You heard what I was going for !!
❤endlessly modulating and I endlessly appreciate one another
❤I do!
Hi CC ! Thank you for giving a listen !!! This one was fun to create
@@basicsforbaroqueimprovisation it’s wonderful to watch your process. You have such a beautiful, sweet, technical style that still encompasses feel ..You are the realdeal Baroque.
@@SeeCSeesCC You are most kind CC ! Thank you !
I have a musical feel and I know good even if I can’t replicate it, my ears and heart know it. Thank you for sharing your gift.
love the explanation behind the concepts. Refreshing way of teaching, rather than just 'showing' the lick. Thanks

At the moment you're my favorite guitar channel on youtube, deserves way more views, lots of channels have great production but nothing of value to say, but all the lessons you've posted so far have been a 3 course meal worth of things to apply to my own playing, I can tell you have decades of experience playing and studying great pieces
Hi James ! I really appreciate you taking the time to let me know these clips are reaching you there. Please let me know if you have questions or suggestions for topics you'd like to see covered. Wishing you the Best - John
Thats awesome! Would love to know how you get that tone it sounds really unique
Hi Mariano Blanco Pinto ! That cello / organ sound is something I've been working on for a long time and involves a special pedal by Electro Harmonix called Attack / Decay. That pedal is supposed to sound like tape being played backwards ( which it can do ) but I immediately heard the possibility of modifying the front end of the attack and getting that smooth organ-like or cello-like sound. If you own an Attack Decay Pedal : Taking a look at my current settings : I always have it in Poly mode. Sens at 10 o'clock, H Vol off, Tone at 10 o'clock, Harmonix off, Blend full clockwise, Attack at 9 o'clock, Decay full clockwise. Explore and see what you come up with ! There's also a pedal compressor and a long reverb from the Boss Katana MKII amp. I also use very light strings for separation and expressiveness. ( Ernie Ball Zippy Slinkys .007 - .036 on the Stratocasters and Ernie Ball Extra Slinky .008 - .038 on the Les Pauls, Sire H7, Astroluxe Cadet ) This signal chain makes playing very enjoyable and soothing as I'm not very fond of pick attack and sounding like a guitar in general. I always wish I was an orchestra. Wishing you the best in your musical journey. Let me know if you have further questions or requests for topics, etcetera.- John
❤️Baroque and Bach! in on the Premier for endlessly modulating!

Well done.
❤️Baroque, the endlessly modulating series are some of my favorites! At times, good for motivation that doesn’t even belong to music, a soundtrack-ism❤️
Thank you CC ! I like these too !! Good stuff !
Nice chords, in the intro, and in the arpeggios. Very distinct, yet naturally flowing.

Is that an automatic swell effect pedal you use?
Yes - That cello / organ sound is something I've been working on for a long time and involves a special pedal by Electro Harmonix called Attack / Decay. That pedal is supposed to sound like tape being played backwards ( which it can do ) but I immediately heard the possibility of modifying the front end of the attack and getting that smooth organ-like or cello-like sound. @@basicsforbaroqueimprovisation thank you for explaining that. It sounds incredibly beautiful and organ like. I’m going to switch to very light strings. I think the easier it is to play an instrument, the more expressive you can be and the more you can get out of it. This is one of the reasons why people like to buy higher quality expensive instruments. The build quality makes your playing easier, but it’s easy to forget about the importance of the strings themselves.
@@georginathompson3788 I agree ! Lighter string require a gentler approach with both hands. They can be bent more easily but also bent out of tune more easily with too much finger pressure. Rather than picking the notes firmly as with heavier strings I think a good idea to have in mind is the notion of imploring, coaxing or gently asking the string to speak. You might notice an increased separation between the notes of chords with much lighter strings. The bass pitches are no longer so dense and wooly. Please let me know what you discover !!
@@basicsforbaroqueimprovisation thank you. Your channel is a treasure trove of musical knowledge and information.
WATHAHECCC THIS IS SO NICEEE

While I am not nearly proficient enough to understand or follow most of your lessons right now, this channel is *exactly* what i needed as guitarist floundering in the "starting to take guitar seriously" phase. Since I have a spotty but at least rudimentary understanding of music theory and the fretboard, taking each excerpt/ lesson slowly and absorbing without self-judgement what I can, has led to me to rediscover the joy of learning. I remember a quote from chord chemistry or modern progressions where Ted says that he "hopes this book will lead to more listenable music" (paraphrasing). I always found that line funny but warm. It encapsulates the playful, free and welcoming vibe the jazz/classical guitar community exudes, and it is so amazing that Ted's legacy is continued by musicians such as yourself. Not only in your playing, but in your mindset and generosity, I see the same spirit of expression, self-disicpline and curiosity that I so admire about Ted. Thank you again so much for your contribution to our community... I will continue to mine your channel for inspiration and knowledge :)
Thank you for your very thoughtful and kind comment. Continue to mine for inspiration and knowledge as well as for the continuity of a centered and still mind, an open heart, and a deep listening. This very pursuit of study and dedication has served me well throughout my life and I wish the same for you. Please feel welcome to ask any questions which may arise along the way. Wishing you the very best - John p.s. please check out this particular clip for more info : czcams.com/video/cAWkcQcAcSw/video.html

@@basicsforbaroqueimprovisation Yes thanks John, the pain subsided noticeably since Monday. In my head I hear this as like one of the harmonic sequence that you play. It has repetition but also unpredictability.
Yes indeed !
Let the winds shake loose the mind; loving this.
Inspiration and joy, thank you.
:) very nice
The relationship between these notes is what makes it sound good. It’s not random. There’s certain mood to it.
Thank you for that. I do construct these lines by trying to foster and maintain a certain feeling or mood. My recent series of Solo Guitar Miniatures uses this same approach on Nylon String Guitar. It's a very fun way to play !
I never understood theory until your videos. All the different terms are just attempts to describe different sounds.
That's great to hear ! Luckily the realm of theory is finite and once you become familiar with some basic terms it builds from there. Please let me know if you ever have a question I might be able to help you with !
This is so amazing. You’re basically changing the base note in the key of D minor and using different intervals of notes in the d minor scale.

That is amazing, I'm honoured, thank you for that! I liked it a lot, a journey in an evolution through various moods with surprising moments of intensity and beauty, , especially liked the playful one with harp, a different afternoon for a faun, and ending in that beautiful little gem in the old style was wonderful.
