Stock speedos often read (at least with older Japanese cars ) too high by 7% or more. This car will not do 100kph in 2nd gear at 6500 RPM (as video shows) without larger than stock wheels or a taller diff ratio installed in reality it is more like 7500RPM . Some other examples : My 2008 Subaru Exiga reads roughly 7% too high (I need to go an indicated about 107kph to be at 100kph on stock wheels/tyres). This is a nice little psychological trick to keep you at the legal limit even when your competitive human risk taking DNA is trying to make you push things that little bit extra, but not get a ticket. What you can do though, is increase your rolling diameter a bit, not for this reason, however I used 235/40/17 (you can use other size combos too) in place of the 185/60/14 on my 1987 MR2 which gives almost exactly correct the speedo (GPS confirmed) for my supercharged AW11, although you do notice the taller 'gearing' reducing acceleration for the same gear (but I built a stroker motor with 18% more capacity which sorts that somewhat). Another side effect -- my odometer will now collect kms too slowly (by 7% ish) if the odo was previously correct!

@@NatVirgo Depends on the exact version. The turbo and beams certainly are faster in a straight line, not so sure about the normal naturaly aspirated version though. The SW-20 is quite a bit heavier than the ZZW-30, so it needs more power for the same accelleration.

I had two 2.8 VR6's (in Golf format), and now a 24v 4Motion 2.8, and that's it: I can't go back to 4 cylinders now...
I don’t really miss my old Golf vr6, I had more fun in a remapped Golf mk4 tdi 150. Now driving a remapped Audi A5 3.0 tdi Quattro which is nice.

2.8 174cv is the american version, it is trash compared with the european version 2.9 192cv.
The 2.9 was only for synchro models as far as i know. But the 2.8 was also a european engine
@@Pascal-rs6vt In the UK, the Golf vr6 were all 2.8, and I believe all the Corrado vr6 were 2.9 standard.
