I've used a shim in my 61' Fat Boy for quite a while. I find that it clamps the blade a lot more efficiently which makes the razor much more comfortable and effective. With the shim, it clamps the full width of the blade which seems to stop it from chattering. It was Dad's and passed down to me and I had it sent to Razor Emporium for a tune up and rhodium finish. Exceptional job from Mat and his group. Been using a shim in it since I got it back and I find that I can use any blade and it works well. Whole different razor. Much more enjoyable. Great video. First time that I've seen someone do a comparison between a shimmed and non shimmed razor. Great work!

Have a stash of 3 different brands, Feather, Derby & Voshkod I rotate through. The Voshkod's for me are an everyday blade for both face & a full head shave, Derby's are similar but, depending on what Razor I'm using they're off/on for a headshave. Feather's I find are by far the sharpest but I usually nick my face using them & they're a 'No Go' for shaving my head.

The irony that for 99.99999% of users, they would get an infinitely better shaving experience and end result with a multiple blade cartridge razor than they would with literally any of these products... I understand that it's a fun kind of hobby or whatever but unless you've had a lot of practice with one of the style of razors and you really do a lot of prep work to your skin ahead of time you're gonna have an awful experience with a lot of irritation and probably not a very good shave without a bunch of nicks and cuts.... If you're not smart enough to figure out how to get cartridge razors from Walmart for like a dollar for a pack, I really don't know what to tell you🤣

Same thing happen with my pearl single edge razor's blade get slide inside while shaving...

Had no issues with it and can see it being used as a daily driver for that shave daily. I did find it hard to shave with when having a few days growth though.

I agree with you I dont like Wilkinson Sword Blades! for Me.

Think no1 for sure is feather no2 is gillete platinum no.3 astra platinum in term of sharpness

Did you encounter problem with the blade sliding back in while shaving? There are few videos of reviewers saying they have the problem. I bought one as well but didn't get it yet! Please let us know.

Astra SP is a very good. The Toyota Corolla of blades. BTW how are the Super Thins?

The best blade price quality ratio I ever used are Derby and Personna.

My favorites are Feather, Rapira Platinum Lux, and Perma-Sharp. Two that I’ve never tried which I would like to try are Kai and Polsilver/Wizamet Iridium
