लिम्बूको प्रचलित कानुनअनुसार विवाहित महिलाका बाबुआमाले छोरीलाई विवाहपछि पनि धेरै वर्षसम्म संरक्षण गर्ने अधिकार राख्न सक्छन् । त्यो हो, जब सम्म दम्पतीले एक निश्चित स्तरको ग्यारेन्टी प्रदान गर्दैन कि विवाह सम्बन्ध बिच्छेद हुनेछैन।
लिम्बू समुदायमा साईमुन्द्री समारोह भनिने एउटा अनौठो परम्परा छ, जुन विवाहित महिलाको अन्त्येष्टि र शोक संस्कार बुबाआमाको जिम्मेवारीबाट ससुराल परिवारमा हस्तान्तरण गर्ने अनुष्ठान हो। पिताको कुल नाम प्राप्त गर्न। त्यो समारोह पूरा नभएसम्म पतिले आफ्नी पत्नी वा उनको सम्पत्तिमा पूर्ण नियन्त्रण राख्न सक्दैन।
तसर्थ, विवाहपछिको संस्कारको यस्तो अन्तिम रीतिरिवाज लामो समयसम्म निष्पादित रहन्छ ताकि आमाबाबुले आफ्नी विवाहित छोरीको रक्षा गर्न र श्रीमान्, ससुरा लगायतलाई उनीविरुद्ध दुर्व्यवहार गर्नबाट रोक्न सकोस्। साइमुन्द्री समारोहको औपचारिक प्रक्रिया विगतमा लिम्बू समुदायका लागि गौरवको विषय थियो र यसमा धेरै प्रतिष्ठा जोडिएको थियो। मुख्यतया आधुनिकीकरणका साथै राज्यको कानुनको दिशानिर्देशका कारण आजकल, साइमुन्द्री समारोह कमै देख्न सकिन्छ।तर, यस्ता परम्परागत चलनहरू लिम्बू समाजमा क्रमशः लोप हुँदै गएका छन् । लिम्बु-समुदायमा कसैले सयमुन्द्रि, कसैले मेलुङ फुसिङ् अथवा कसैले बाग्दात भन्छन यो लिम्बूहरु थुम अनुसार।
