I got a 1/29 revell kit. Its massive. OK I admit the detail isn't there but as a put together kit it's great. What I will say is because of the size you can go crazy adding your own details. Make a model, make it your own.

I bought two kits. One to build the second for the seal box collection.

Worth noting that the guy who sculpted the film suit, Steve wang, actually sculpted this model as well

My Uncle built one of these for me when I was a wee lad back in the late 80's early 90's. I still have it too! I remember the catalog, the instructions... the Ferret is just the coolest looking fake fighter jet of all time.

Great review, I had wondered about the popularity of plaster style kits like these with the introduction of insulation foam. Way way way back, I was lucky enough to work for Synergy Dio, a company based out of Victoria BC Canada, where we created mostly 1/35 scale architectural miniatures in dental plaster. It was great to hear Verlindens name mentioned, he definitely push the popularity of our hobby in the late 80’s, early 9o’s, along with other cottage companies like Armor Research, ADV, Grandt Line and MB Models, to name a few. Keep up the good work and thanks for letting me reminisce.

where do i buy?

I am building this kit now, only problem i have is that the kit says the tracks work, but all wheels are glued in place as by the instructions, so no workable tracks..... I have to stop the build to figure out how to make them turn and not fall off.... Even the sprocket wheels are not moveble.

I found my kit a few weeks ago, probably 35 years old now. Been building it for a couple of days. Cant wait to paint it.

i just bought it. really great sculpt. The movie was awesome. the eyes will be a bit tricky to paint but I will just take my time on that part. the rest will be easy since it just fur and leathery skin, very easy.

Couldn't they reinforce the plaster by putting toothpicks, wire or cloth in while they're pouring it in the mold? Like concreters do. Especially in those thinner areas around doors and windows. The extra time and labour it'd take would be far less than the postage, surely.

Imho you are overlooking the actual posing. Cleaned up these look like they walk away when you are not looking. Imho (I have a lot of them too) alpine, great as they are, do not achieve this level of realness.

Definitely worth up grading to a hornet head on these figures 1/35 scale …

I am doing this kit now and it is a blast..Really enjoy doing it...They include the old framework but no wire meshing but that can be substituted from the spares box.....

Kool Kit for sure. I don't know if I can find one in Canada but I'm on the hunt for sure. I was recently able to acquire a 1/35 Briegle in resin by Kallamity. I really like the newer series for the characters and the stories, but I could never warm up to the new ship designs. The Viper and the Galactica were good, but the designers seemed to have wanted the Cylon ships to look "organic" or something, perhaps in keeping with the Cylon's "evolving" to the point where they are basically living creatures. I've been hunting around for this exact kit recently, but am not willing to pay $100+ to get one. Will keep going.

I built that MPC kit back in the day as a teenager. After I was done, I noticed one on display at one of the local hobby shops and I was amused to notice that I'd done a better paint job on mine--the modeler who built the one shown in the shop had selected a glossy refrigerator white for some reason, where mine was flat white, and mine had better weathering and streaking. Where the other modeler had surpassed me, however was in the cockpit, which was not stock and was very detailed and intricate, probably kitbashed from some jet aircraft model(s). You're absolutely right about the Bandai kit being too dinky. I also remember there not being any actual scale enumeration on the MPC kit. What scale is it supposed to be? Who knows? Ah, memories.

Yes im right there with yeah I have collected those books as well and the two you didn't have and that I have them buy you are not missing anything both SP and BH have little to no information very generic. Those books you do have are best available books on the market to current offerings! All day I'm to words that teach me!
