I'm having a problem with OnSong. I'm a relatively new user. I'm using the premium version. Experienced users: Please watch this video and tell me what you think I'm doing wrong.

experimenting with a microphone on an old H1 "handy recorder". These mics were highly thought of in the day, but I'm not convinced. Here's what I came up with for La Vie En Rose, a song my fabulous daughter and now son in law asked me to play at their wedding in October. I still can't play it well despite my kajillion attempts at it. And the audio sounds like my kitchen. Oh well.

Sí Bheag, Sí Mhór Happy St. Patricks Day, for me, a Holy Day of Obligation. I am obligated to drain a Guinness or two. Meanwhile, here is a quick and dirty version of one of my favorite Irish tunes, the almost ancient Turlogh O'Carolyn wrote this in the late 1600's or early 1700's. I opened for him at Leu Gardens, Orlando, Florida, 1994. I didn't know he passed away until I went looking for his chord chart today. It was in a songbook by him that I bought that day. I would love to find those chords. Such an incredibly talented songwriter.

I actually worked in the periphery of the record business for a few years. From the inside things often looked different. One thing that was constant and sought after was talent. The Amazing Rhythm Aces had it. The problem was not one of the label “brains” could figure out how to market their music. Too many non musician opinions stirring the pot. That sort of thing was rampant then and now. They didn’t need to be pidgeon holed, they needed thoughtful support of live performances and promotion. Labels see that stuff as outlay, $ going to the band, then the band has to pay it back. Very short term strategy, but it is the way it’s done. Now the bands cannot rely on record sales to survive, so they tour economically, trying to avoid the label up fronting anything. Anyways, the Aces remain one of the greatest ever. Just try to find their music. Their fans are very loyal. To me, they sit atop the greatest acts along with NRBQ. If I had my way, they would be heard everyday by everyone. It would be justice.

You'll be pleased to hear that the Black Rose is going strong after a difficult few years of COVID shutdown with continually rising concert attendance levels. The bass player needs to tune up before he starts playing this song.
He has a habit of tuning halfway through a session. You just have to be patient for that moment when he realizes he's out a bit.

I saw Run C&W open for someone- maybe Huey Lewis- at Starwood Ampitheatre south of Nashville in the 90's. HIlarious and fantastic in every way!

This is "stuff that works".Thoroughly enjoyable rendition , I would like to know more about the players and how you got together.
Okay, it's not terribly fascinating but here goes: Jeff Brown on the beat box and vocals commissioned my wife to do a banner for his band at that time, years ago, I got to know him, he asked me to sub in for guitar in a band named Virginia Creeper (see soundcloud) for a couple weeks, and that went ten years. George Walsh is/was the bass player for that band. We love hanging out and talking shite. And making noise... try to get together a couple times a month... Jeff is a gifted singer and works as a respiratory therapist at a major hospital in Northern Virginia. He grew up singing gospel and it shows. George lives in WInchester Virginia and keeps telecom systems up and running - he's originally from NYC and used to play in a Police cover band.

When you are adding those fills, is it all based on the major/minor scales of the chord you’re playing?
Hey Luke S, thanks for this question - it's a good one - essentially, yes, it's based on scales, but I never really learned theory early on I just sorta figured it out - but what I do is look for alternative positions on the neck for the chord I'm playing and work a "fill" or a lead run out of that other position. If you want to Zoom or Skype I can try to explain it. It's just a system I've worked up in response to my ignorance about music...
