Welcome to my channel, This is a special project of mine where I operate a drone showing different cities, towns, locations and other places of interest. I'm currently starting in California and when time permits, I will move on to other states. The primary reason for this channel is to share what the USA looks like from a birds-eye view.

Skaggs Island (Highway 37)
Skaggs Island Naval Communication Station is a former United States Navy installation located near California State Route 37 between Novato and Vallejo, California. It was a secretive, secure, and self-contained naval base, engaged in a number of communications and intelligence gathering functions for the Navy and other federal intelligence organizations. The 3,310-acre site was purchased by the Navy in 1941, and closed in 1993. The antennas continued to be used for some time after that, but by 2013 they were removed along with all of the remaining buildings.
Skaggs Island was once a thriving tidal marsh next to San Pablo Bay. It is part of the Pacific Flyway for migratory birds and was used extensively by Native Americans until the 1800s, when federal legislation allowed the State of California to fill in wetlands. Senator John P. Jones, of Nevada, purchased 10,000 acres for development by his brother. Chinese laborers, freed from railroad building work, were employed to construct levees to control flooding by Sonoma Creek. The area became a diked wetland area, converted to hay farms and salt ponds, before becoming a United States Navy electronic communications station between 1942 and 1993. The VORTAC radio navigation beacon (Identifier: SGD. Frequency: 112.10 MHz) remains operational. It is a medium-power facility, used by aircraft for low-level enroute navigation.
On March 31, 2011, Skaggs Island became part of the 13,000-acre San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge, created in 1974 to protect migratory birds, wetland habitat and endangered species.
Skaggs Island was named for Marion Barton Skaggs, who financially helped the struggling Sonoma Land Company during the depression of the 1930s.

Miss the place. Used to live in E. Leland road. I miss the city and most importantly, the people. Huge shoutout to fellow alumni at Rancho Medanos Jr High!
Love dancing to this Soundtrack!
Something we didn’t see “Sun” for our 4 days there a week or so ago. Oh yeah the day we left the sun did come out. And the Restaurant is closed Monday through Wednesday! And beware Hog Island Oysters was closed for the days we wanted to go there! So definitely plan ahead if u want to eat in the area. Nicks Cove Restaurant a few miles south was open & we enjoyed it! The Sunset was beautiful there & yes, it was freezing cold & no sun at Dillon Beach that day! With over 110° in California for the week Dillion Beach I hear has sun & mid to high 60’s this week, sweet!

Lived there in the 50's and 60's😂
Why do you say this is OV? 🙄
Well it always grew good hay. None of my sites survived besides NTTC Corry Station Training Command.
White Hill not San Geronimo.
seguro
I lived there, 1980-1984, while stationed at the now-decommissioned Coast Guard Communication Station. A lovely place to live.
This seems like only a small section of Novato like maybe only 1/20th of it. And where are all the homes with the pools. Probably up in the hilly areas. I want to see more of the better areas of Novato not just by the freeway.
😁 95.3 KUIC, ...your hometome station.😎
raised in fairfield since '86, graduated from armijo and created so many wonderful memories that i often miss what it was when i was young. however, due to declining community resources for young adults, poor conditions in public parks, deterioration of solano mall and other retail stores, excessive cost of living and increased crime and homelessness, i made a move to southern utah where my family are safer, healthier and happier.
I left there 1978, remember some of the streets, Safeway. Long's drugs, alpha beta store still there? Had a bowling alley before the casino pop up.
Lived in Berry Creek for aLOT of years.❤

I can save you a trip to San Pablo. Just empty out a full trash can and turn your fan on full speed so it blows everywhere. This town is blessed with great weather and location, but is such a sad place to see in this condition. Lots of ultra liberal minded people here, yet they can’t be bothered with pollution
Drilled many patterns here. Great video footage lol
i hated this place but i miss it
Man has always been fascinated since the beginning of time with flight
That’s where I am
But why is it called Granite Bay? There is no bay
"Granite Bar, later to be known as Granite Bay was named for the granite rock quarried from its banks and used as rip-rap in the wing dams of Folsom Dam"
Looks like a Great place to roll up a fat one and pass it around!
I live in Woodland and frequent Davis several times a year on business. Very clean, yet crowded city. The houses are so close together you can hear your neighbor flush their toilet.
Gostaria tanto de conhecer alburn Califórnia.
I live here omg
Do not move. No stores and have to drive 30 mins for everything
Miss this city, grew up here
