There's no way that was made by TEAC. TEAC/TASCAM made studio quality kit. This is a Capetronic type record deck with Tanashin cassette , and these were pretty much the cheapest systems you could buy circa 1990. Someone just rebadged it, it's a knock off probably sold in discount store or even used as a prize at a fairground (I have seen them there!) At least it works, if you had no stereo I suppose you'd be glad of that.
If a switch is suspected as being intermittent or oxidised due to lack of use, it's wise to spray it with contact cleaner and activate it a dozen times or more to ensure a lasting fix. In this case the repositioning probably helped though - it was obviously borderline and the extra pressure helped
Yes, I believe so. From memory, I think I did use contact cleaner as well. Thanks for watching đđ
I took apart a ~1910 a few years ago as well. Generally crap wood, but veneered really lovely. Sure, it's closer-grained than anything you'll find these days, but that grain is often not the least bit straight. Still, I turned it into a new computer desk & preserved all the wonderful veneer doing it. The rest of the wood has slowly started becoming other things. My family guesses "It's part of an old piano" each christmas now.
That's awesome mate, well done! đđ
Here's a philosophical question ... Do smart chargers possess artificial intelligence or just natural stupidity?
Perhaps it's the intelligence of their creators that needs questioning! đ€Ł
How do you trick a smart klystron?
It reminds me of the "Winchester House" is San Jose California. There are tours of the place. It has quite a history, if anyone is interested. Kind of spooky history.....
I just did this repair, following your instructions. Very clear and helpful. Thanks so much!
Fantastic Scott, that's great to hear! đđđ
Same thing applies to cordless drills etc. When those batteries get too low; the chargers won't charge them. Just open up the battery pack to get direct access to the battery and use a 9V battery to jump start those batteries. It only takes a few seconds to wake up the tool batteries. Put the protective case back on. The charger will now start charging that battery pack. I wonder how many of those have been tossed as well.
Yeah Robert, it would be frightening to know how any perfectly good batteries have been thrown out! đ±đ±
Ive got everything here in my shed to do this. Thing is ive just ran outta beer so the question I need answering is, what vol% alcohol is that green liquid? Brilliant vid btw đ
Haha, nowhere near high enough mate! đ€Ł
Did you hear about desoldering? Guess not...
What was I supposed to desolder Oleg?
I need power switch 1,2,3 level.Help. Utilitech model HO-0201
Sorry John, I can't help you there. Try eBay maybe..
Thouraghly enjoyed your video. Iâm 72, when I was in my teens and twenties I was able to do most of the repairs and maintenance on my cars, as were lots of my friends at the time. Lack of money meant we had to, but we enjoyed it. Nowadays however, I open the bonnet, look in, top up the windscreen washer bottle, maybe check the oil level, the rest is just not worth trying to figure out whatâs what. Itâs really replace rather than repair these days. Sad I think.
I agree Gerry! I spent a lot of time working on old cars! Swapping engines, transmissions, and other random jobs! I once completely rebuilt a Holden 253 V8 engine and drove it for many years. Wish I still had it actually! They were great times! Thanks for watching đđ
Excelente. Gracias por compartir
Gracias por ver đđ
I tried this on a 55 inch Samsung TV and failed: 1. The screen is held on with plastic strips that will separate and allow the layers to slide around. 2. The strips are not very strong and will separate after removing the bezel and flipping the TV. 3. The glue wouldn't hold and it was hard not to put too much and ruin the diffusers. 4. There are 72 diffusers and they are very small.(LG has 45 in the video) What I would do differently next time: 1. On the Samsung if there is a way to leave the bezel on, it would be much easier. 2. I would use ZAPIT UV curing glue and apply it with a pushpin 3. I would not do it on a soft bed
Thanks for the detailed comment mate! Yes - always things to learn and improve on đđ
The main problem is a car battery that low will probably be damaged and not have enough cranking amps. It may not even hold full charge due to heavy sulfation.
Yeah, many old batteries such as the one I used will never come back to useable condition. But a new battery that has been drained due to lights being left on overnight, or something similar, should come back ok đ
I don't see anyone else claiming it and in any case I think we're going to award you the Ultimate Van Packer title. Thanks for some enjoyable inspiration.
Haha, thanks Nas! If you do something often enough, eventually you get good at it! đ
That van is amazing, it holds so much. I'm glad it's you doing all that sorting, I would shut the door and watch TV đ€Ł
As long as there's not an episode of "hoarders" airing.. đ±đ€Ł
I try not to buy anything with the word smart is the name.
Yeah, it could almost be seen as a warning! đđ
Took my smart charger by the chord, swung it around a few times and slapped it up side an oak tree. Then I got an old dumb charger and lived happily ever after.
Haha George! A bit tough on the old oak tree though! Just an innocent bystander and gets whacked! đ€Ł
Had this happen a lot and I just grabbed a spare 12v battery to get the charge cycle started. The 9v battery is a brilliant idea. A cool mod to the charger would be to put a battery inside with a momentary switch labelled 'dead battery kick start' (or something better lol).
Yep, it wouldn't be hard to do that mod. I believe many smart chargers have an override switch now.
Thanks for the tour of the farm house. You and mum will miss the place. Do you know what Ross is going to do with it?
Yep, many great memories for the whole extended family in that house! No, not really - short term it may be some accommodation for farm workers, but eventually I think it will be demolished and a new house built!
You brought back memories of driving a VW Kombi in the wind. What a joy that was! I thought I had a lot of pot plants but I think your Mum has the record on that one. I'm glad she can take a good number of them with her.
Yep the ol' kombi's would catch the wind I would imagine! I used to drive a beetle when I first got my licence! There's lots of pot plants I haven't really shown yet! đČđ€Ł
Thanks Chris, more great progress at the farm, talking about the old chest freezer made me smile, we were one of the first families here to have a large chest freezer back in the early seventies, my Dad had worked for the New Zealand shipping company and Captained many a freezer ship of Lamb & Butter to the UK from New Zealand so was a big fan of freezers. The vessels he was on were mixed use so as well as cargo they also took small numbers of paying passengers on the long voyages to NZ, Australia & Tasmania. He still has fond memories of his time in the Antipodes, although one trip was delayed somewhat so he didn't get to meet me till I was nearly six months old !
Thanks Andy! I'll bet your Dad has some amazing stories to tell! đČđ
@@TheUltimateRecycler Certainly, though some are not repeatable !
Thanks Chris, Great knew that you managed to find a buyer for the wagon and also for some of the furniture items ! Old habits die hard with the preserves, my family have always made Jams, Pickles, Chutneys and bottled fruits, we have had an allotment for 20 years so also continue the tradition adding "sun-dried" (dehydrated) tomatoes & mushrooms in oil, and dried herbs and spices such as Chillies & Fennel. We continue to clear my parents home and I recently recycled about twenty jars of pickled onions of various vintages that were no longer fit to eat - I'm sure they would be safe but the texture suffers and they are no longer good to eat ! My grandparents always kept chickens and my Dad was regularly pickling excess eggs up to the point that he and Mum went into care !
Wow Andy, that's an impressive family history of preserving! Are you continuing the practices?
As much as I wanted to leave home when I was a young lad, it was always a nice feeling to go back home. Until they downsized
It will take some time to get used to not be able to go home to the farm. Things change I guess - we just have to adapt! Thanks Dale đ
4.3 amp is not anything but a low rate on a battery this big. Grateful for the voltage sensing trick !
Yes true - but at least it's charging! đđ
I am grateful for the voltage sensing trick. what ticks me off is my "30 Amp" De Walt smart charger.. which will not charge above 5.9 amps no matter how low the battery is..and simply will not charge at all is the battery is quite low. Then I have to use the stupid charger !
Congrats on a successful van load!
Thanks mate! đđ
By gee mate. I hope Mums place in Nagambie has plenty of room. I absolutely love her plants and the garden in general. And the history that goes with the house.
She is struggling with the lack of space in her new place Glen! Just not as much storage room as the farm, obviously!
Positive progress. Heres for fair winds and good sailing â”ïž đ
Thanks mate. We sailed pretty easily all the way home - the winds weren't too bad but it did rain for the entire trip!
Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge sir! You have a very easy going way of explaining things so as my brain doesn't explode when understanding the fundamentals of the chemistry of metals. My question is, is there an easy and time saving method of stripping #1 copper wire (in bulk) without diminishing the price from top tier.
Thanks Jacob. You can buy specialist wire strippers, but it's only viable if you have lots of heavy gauge copper wire to strip. Standard appliance cords aren't worth it in my opinion.
Mum will have lots more to organize at the new home. Thanks for taking us along
Thanks Cynthia - she is doing a good job unpacking, but is struggling with lack of storage compared to her farm house!
Wow, youâre getting there. I see the wagon is still on site. Fingers crossed you get a solid offer soon. Hope you didnât have to drive too far in the rain. Safe travels.
Thanks Cyn. I do have a buyer for the wagon - hopefully it doesn't fall through! It rained ALL the way home! đČ
Beautiful view from the kitchen window đ
It is nice! No high rises to be seen here! Not even another house! Thanks Barbara đđ
Getting there. You cheeky boy Chris (I can say that as I have a few years on you) teasing Mum like that (but true). đđ
She takes it in good fun - luckily! đ€Ł
I don't think this would work with smarter chargers. The better ones only charge for a few seconds at a time then pull back and re-evaluate the battery. On those, this trick would get them to charge for a minute or two but then it'd cut back off again. I keep an old charger around for really dead batteries. The smart chargers are great for all other situations, they will treat the battery better. I doubt you'd get a transformer out of that charger, it's almost certainly a switching power supply in there. Hardly anything uses old line voltage transformers anymore, they're huge and heavy and inefficient, and use way too much material to do the job.
Thanks for the extra info John! đđ
I learn to drive in my father vw camper with popup top. I know what you mean in strong wind while driving in a box. We hate the westerly winds usually when the Brisbane ekka in August. It funny how old people love big freezer full of food. After my mum passed, we found the top layer of my brothers wedding cake from the late 70s, lol. Cheers Graham.
Hahaha, did you eat it Graham? đ€Łđ€Ł
@@TheUltimateRecycler no, I remember what tasted like back in the 70s, lol.

If its a proper old bitsa house there will be weatherboards under the masonite lining the internal walls. At least you have got to the point where you can see the architecture again.

Little things that bring back memories Chris. The old ladder on the roof, the party lights on the shed (think everyone had a set in the late 70s, early 80s) even the preserves. Lovely memories too.
For sure Glen, memories everywhere for a lot of us! Thanks mate đđ
Great news on the wagon. I'm so glad you found a home for it. You are going well on the packing up. What a job! I had to giggle at your Roman numerals quip.
I don't think mum was impressed with that comment! đđ€Ł
Thanks for passing on this. Helps to get things recognized and saved.
Thanks mate! I should do a few more shorts at some stage I guess!
It's good to price high like that. Whoever gets it will know the price really can't go any lower considering it's already a retro machine. It ensures that it gets valued and passed on to the next generation to appreciate. Keep up the good work. I got a Sony PVM on a job at a veterinarians office and I was so excited about it. Unfortunately the case had degraded to the point that my hands went through the case when I went to pick it up. I think it was due to some chemical exposure in the room it was in. Sadly I had to let it go although I should have perhaps sold it for parts considering the value.
Thanks Nas. Yeah, there would have been some parts value I think - and the tube itself!
I peed on an electric fence it was a shocking experience to my weenie
We want to see Mom before you leave so we can say hello.

You should upload a video just of the pipes, I loved that screen saver as a kid!! đ Maybe that is where my love of metal came from lol. I'm amazed how much they go for, wow!
Haha, I could call it 'copper pipes' and all the scrappers would love it! đ€Łđ€Ł Thanks Sollers đđ
I'd like an Iron Chef contest of the 1990's jams, jellies, and tomato's, please!
Haha, I do remember watching some of those contests on TV. Hilarious stuff! đ€Łđ€Ł
Ross is still the unsung hero of this series. I can't imagine someone who wasn't your lifelong neighbor being so patient with the clean out/move out. Nice update.
Yep, indeed! Hats off to Ross & Lynell đđ
She should probably avoid coming to the farm until she is done with unpacking all she took to the new place. It is hard for her but she can't take everything so I am really impressed with you managing to get her to let go of stuff she made herself. Hat's off!
Thanks Sarit. It is a challenge sometimes, and mostly I just pack what she wants to take without question and we can sort it all out later! I'll keep doing loads regardless of unpacking progress as we do need to have it all done asap.
