    What’s the difference with applying an epoxy coating

    • @Daytonsuperior
      @Daytonsuperior Před 3 měsíci

      Top-Cast Surface Retarder is a water-based product that slows the set of the top surface of freshly-poured concrete, allowing for various depths to be “etched” into the concrete for decorative purposes. Epoxy coatings are applied on top of existing concrete to achieve desired performance and appearance characteristics. I hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions, feel free to contact Dayton Superior directly for technical assistance: www.daytonsuperior.com/forms/technical-assistance

    Can apply top cast to an old slab

    • @Daytonsuperior

      Top Cast requires moisture in the top surface of the slab in order to react and work properly, therefore it cannot be applied to old slabs.

    Great Video. So much useful information!!! Rookie question but when would it be acceptable to use a waler only form system with short end ties over a waler with strongback/stud + long end tie system?

    • @Daytonsuperior
      @Daytonsuperior Před rokem

      We are happy to answer any question, no worries on that! You can use a short end snap-tie with the Jahn System up to 8’0” in height: your pour rate of concrete is limited and you will still need to have a strongback every 8’0” oc. The Jahn System is load rated at 2250lb SWL so you are limited to a pour rate with this system to maximize the loading per tie. Hope that helps and thanks so much for the video feedback.

    So top cast and sand blasting are 2 different methods of achieving the same finish - exposed aggregate?

    • @Daytonsuperior
      @Daytonsuperior Před 2 lety

      While sandblasting can be used to expose aggregate, it’s generally used as a mechanical means for cleaning a surface from unwanted contamination such as old toppings, dirt, and even graffiti. Sandblasting to achieve an aesthetic look can be quite the task to ensure an even look across the entirety of the surface. It requires heavy equipment and limits the options for the final overall look and feel of the exposed aggregate. With our Top-Cast system of products, a variety of etch depths can be achieved with a simple spray application that not only ensures uniformity but allows for creativity in producing aesthetically pleasing designs utilizing exposed aggregate. Feel free to contact our technical services team at 877-266-7732 with any further questions.

    How much time does the Bond breaker need to cure for it to be good to pour the panel forms 🤔

    • @Daytonsuperior
      @Daytonsuperior Před 2 lety

      Thanks for the question. Depending on weather conditions, the first coat of bond breaker typically takes approximately 2 hours to dry. Once dry, a second coat is applied and again (depending on conditions) this coat also takes approximately 2 hours to dry. At this point, a water bead test can be performed and if the water beads like a freshly waxed automobile, it is ready for the pour.
