So in their later yrs, they STILL "lived free" & to the extent they could (& wished) continued to thumb societal norms. But this time , in poverty.

Now I am not a massive GN fan, but I love what he puts into this song, and part of that of course is his own life. It is a fine song, full of mystery, and Nash does it rather well.

Great instinct by whoever made the decision (Ahmet or Stills or the group) re 4+20. The starkness of the solo makes the song a masterpiece and this version, while pretty, undermines the aloneness of the narrator.

A little dispute about the motivation behind the five song run being 'for' Dylan. Depends on who you listen to... and to be honest, Nash and Crosby had some songs, but nowhere near the catalog SS had, there was no way to balance the setlist to be equal and give the audience what they wanted. Poor judgment, perhaps, but... he had no reason to try to impress Dylan that night. I'm wary of what writers claim to know what artists are thinking, feeling. How so???

I can understand the lack of recording at that time , although Jimi Hendrix had a portable reel to reel that he carted around to record many jams at the Scene club and elsewhere. He used it to record Joni Mitchell in a gig when they met in Ottawa. The Hendrix foundation must have these recordings unless they were all lost. I don't understand why no one in the audience took any camera pics of Hammond, Clapton and Hendrix jamming. Seems like a no brainer photo opportunity.!

Still’s is obviously a great musician, but his guitar playing is way underrated. So musical.

This has a charm that distinguishes it from the original. I do like the CSN better but this is a very good alternate arrangement.

I'm a swing dancer and I'll tell you jump blues as these cats do it opens a door to the very guts of it all when you're dancing. My dad played Dixie and swing trumpet and I grew up hearing it all, I'd say this is about as gutsy and earthy as it can get. Tell all, Brothers, tell all!
