Welcome to Enablers of Change! We’ll share our thoughts about different topics around enabling change. We’ll focus mainly on agricultural industries and regional communities, but we’re always curious about what’s happening in other fields of study too.
We’ll talk about different approaches, tools and techniques. We will mainly refer to evidence-based approaches. Some will have passed the test of time and be what we’d call classics. Others will be out-of-the-box ideas that we think are worth trying. We’ll also have some myth buster sessions, where we’ll test to see whether some commonly held beliefs are actually true.

The art of asking smarter questions
We recently talked about asking better questions, and shared the idea of a pyramid of question types from Will Wise and Chad Littlefield. Well, we’ve now come across another article about asking questions and thought you might like to hear about its five types of questions.

Are you struggling with survey fatigue?
zhlédnutí 37Před měsícem
We’ve recently been hearing how hard it is to get a decent number of responses to a survey over the last few years. And we’ve also heard from people who are working on projects where there is reluctance to send out “yet another survey”, because they think farmers are feeling over-surveyed. So we wondered whether survey fatigue is really true and what we might do to overcome it. See the transcri...

zhlédnutí 67Před 3 měsíci
Over the last few years we’ve seen a change in the use of online tools amongst enablers of change. Obviously at times it was the only way of running activities safely. But now we’re in the new normal and thinking about how to effectively engage farmers as part of our role, so we’re wondering, what’s the best online platform for workshops? Especially with farmers? Is there any data on this and w...

Good information. I'm working to have a focus group to give me information on starting a small holistic memory care facility in Panama. Does your organization assist with the actual focus group event? Or can you direct me to who can help run the focus group if I'm not tech savvy with zoom or displaying material online?
Very insightful, thank you!

If I try this I end up pulling multiple notes off the stack... edit: best way for me seems to be just from the side. It curls the corner, but that can be more easily bent back or at least it wont make the note fall off as the largest part of the sticky strip stays straight. Might depend on your notes too though, I think mine might just be more sticky as it takes a lot of force to try to do it the way this video shows.
yay, thank you. I never kneeeew!

I undestood that, action learning is the best and practical way of acheiving concrete solutions for a problems. It enhanced collaboration; where resources, experiences, ideas, etc are shared without any limitation and across any boarder.
im sorry but as much as this might help, this is completely impossible for me. the notes bend no matter i try
Great tips, thank you!
In Prograze, we supply the manual, with the idea that people can read it before they attend each day. Generally we only have 1 person out of the group who will do that. They may end up with a clearer understanding and ask better questions. But I still have to cover everything, for the non readers. We have been asked for videos from the days for participants to revisit, but our organizations do not want to travel that path. We are a little reluctant too, as so much you present is contextualised to the situation, and out of context, may be misunderstood.
But are students wired to see everything as a test so focus more with questions? Would farmers be different?
When doing a farm survey in Tibet, I found that the translators could not distinguish between could and would. The nuance was lost.

Thank you, Denise and John for the video. I am a Coach Educator (Football Australia facilitator for coaching coaches) I started this journey back in 1995, and after the initial introduction to become a coach educator, in the last 12 years, I have changed the way I facilitate the courses. I have been following these 6 principles. I get push back from most of my peers, as I don't tell and show direct from the curriculum. I adapt the courses to suit the adults on the individual courses, according to the questions at the beginning (i get to know what they already know and what they are needing to help them do a better job). Thank you
