Jago 336| I Finally Reached the Great Pyramid of Giza after Backpacking Overland for 7 Months
On the 213th day, I visited the Giza Pyramid complex, which always amazes visitors because it is difficult to imagine that this magnificent building was built almost 5000 years ago without modern technology.
My arrival was greeted by camels, who were forced to take visitors around the pyramid complex. Besides camels, local hustlers offered horses or horse-drawn carriages to get around this relatively large complex. I decided to walk.
Entering from the south entrance, after passing the Valley Temple of Khafre, The Great Sphinx, a statue carved from stone with a human face and the body of a lion, welcomes me. Allegedly, the face of the sphinx was carved to resemble the face of Khafre, king of the 4th dynasty in Egypt from the 26th century BC.
In the past, the sphinx was buried in sand up to its neck so that only its head was visible. Currently, the body has been excavated. Yet, fences keep away visitors from approaching near.
I continued walking towards the largest pyramid and explored one of the nearby tombs.
When I came out, I was at the foot of The Great Pyramid of Giza (Pyramid of Khufu), the tallest building in the world whose record stood for almost 4000 years.
In the past, many visitors came to climb to the top. Nowadays, this is no longer allowed.
Therefore, I continued to visit the Pyramid of Khafre, which was only a few meters lower than the Great Pyramid. However, from a distance, this pyramid looks taller because it was built on a higher ground. Unlike other pyramids, the Pyramid of Khafre still has smooth cladding at the top.
Lastly, I visited the third pyramid, the Pyramid of Menkaure, which is less than half the height of the previous two pyramids.
I enjoyed looking at this world's wonder until sunset. Then, I returned to my accommodation in Giza. On the next excursion, I will visit Saqqara, the cradle of pyramid-building techniques.

Jago 335| Pilgrimage to Coptic Cairo, the Refuge of the Holy Family in Egypt (Abu Serga)
zhlédnutí 60Před dnem
On the 212th day, I went to Coptic Cairo, a Coptic district at the center of Cairo. It contains a caver church that allegedly was the place where Joseph, Mary, and the baby Jesus lived when they fled to Egypt. I crossed the Nile River from Giza and followed it towards the Citadel of Babylon, the name of the Roman fort that now protects Coptic Cairo. Once inside Coptic Cairo, I saw a map that sh...
Jago 334| Taking an Afternoon Walk to the Pyramids and Learning about Egyptian Papyri
zhlédnutí 211Před 14 dny
On the 211th day, I walked to enjoy the view of the Giza Pyramids from afar. The charming view compelled me to see it up close immediately. I took a microbus towards the Giza Pyramids and continued on foot. A man in a horse-drawn carriage offered me a ride part of the way. When I arrived, several people offered a horse or camel ride to enter the pyramid complex for only $10, which they claimed ...
Jago 333| Pilgrimage to the Monastery of St. Simon the Tanner in the Garbage City of Cairo
zhlédnutí 86Před 14 dny
On the afternoon of the 209th day, I walked east of Cairo towards Mansheya Nasir, a Christian district known as Garbage City. Supposedly, tens of thousands of Zabbaleen (garbage collectors) who live here are Coptic Christians. There is the Coptic monastery of St. Simon with a church carved from the rock on the city's edge, on the Mokattam hill. There is even a church located underground. Accord...

zhlédnutí 115Před 21 dnem
On the 209th day, I explored the old city of Cairo on foot from north to south. The walk began from Habib Pasha El-Sakakini Palace. A French architect built this mansion in 1897 in the Rococo style. The marble statues that decorate the walls of the building still look lively and enchanting. Allegedly, the owner of the building was a nobleman from Syria who also built a Catholic church in Cairo....
Jago 331| Experiencing the Cheap Life in Giza, Egypt: One-Dollar Hostel, Indomie, and More
zhlédnutí 606Před 21 dnem
On the 208th day, I arrived at the Go Bus Terminal in Cairo at exactly 2:30 a.m. I decided to wait at McDonald's until sunrise before looking for a cheap hostel to save money. I found a hostel for $2.5 in Giza (later discounted to $1/night because I was staying for more than a week). Therefore, from Cairo, in the middle of the night, I took a 3 EGP ($0.1) microbus to Giza. McDonald's ice cream ...
Jago 330| From The Red Sea Crossing at Nuweiba to Cairo by Bus via the Suez Canal
zhlédnutí 354Před 21 dnem
On the 207th day, I walked around Nuweiba in the morning before leaving by night bus to Cairo. Nuweiba is a port city that connects Egypt with Jordan. The government is developing the city into a resort town to take advantage of its location by the shores of the Red Sea. When I arrived in Nuweiba the previous night, I stayed in one of the cheap hostels near the harbor. Sinai mountains were visi...

On the 206th day, I left for Egypt and parted ways with my sister, who would return to Indonesia. We both went to the North Bus Terminal in Amman. I arrived at the JET bus office at 10 a.m. when the bus almost departed. Luckily, the bus driver waited for me to buy a ticket first. The ticket price was 10 dinars to Aqaba. The bus took 5 hours to Aqaba, driving along the road that I traveled befor...

Bos,jln2 terus,uda pensiun dan nikmati hidup ya.😊
Kampung saya itu. Si Ati itu sya punya kawan hahaha
Salam dari tajung selor abag ya asli orang mana ?
Asal Jakarta. Salam

Salam kenal. Sangat disayangkan saya belum berkesempatan menjelajahi Pulau Wetar. Hanya sempat singgah di beberapa pelabuhannya saja. Mudah2an lain kesempatan bisa bertualang ke sana lagi.
P. Sebatik pantas jadi pusat produksi busana Batik, amin.
Hello friend I'm eknath form. Aurangabad Indian
Thanks for giving me a lift to the bus stop. I'm in Jodhpur now.
salah satu penghambat kemajuan timorleste adlh kendala bahasa.mrk mnggunakn bhs nasional portugis, sedang negara2 tetangga terdekatnya tdk adayg mnggunakn bhs portugis, bhkn d seluruh asia ( bhkn macao sbg ex jajahan portugis) jg tdk ada yg mngadopsi bhs portugissbg bhs nasional..sdg bhs adlh sarana utama interaksi antar negara tetangga dlm hal urusan diplomatik, ekonomi dn sosial , oleh pemerintahan dn masyarakatnya..dlm.hal ini terutama dg negara terdekatnya indonesia yg berbeda bahasa..bhs portugis justru jd kendala terbesar..

Egypt welcomes you wholeheartedly, my friend!
Thank you, brother!
Ada rekomendasi Hotel yg dekat jesselton point
Hostel saya menginap tidak persis di dekatnya tapi masih within walking distance. Namanya H2 Backpackers.
Get outfrom the hell
Its funny only online people who have never been any where other than the closet say stuff like that 😂
It's fun in its own unique way.
Terima kasih
Ada Vientiane-Kunming. Klo ga salah harganya sekitar 800an ribu yg paling murah. Coba cek websitenya aja. Tidak ada VoA. Harus apply visa sebelumnya. Waktu itu belum ada pilihan transport naik kereta, jasi saya gunakan dummy ticket pesawat.
Cool content. Good luck, man - stay safe.
Mantap abg Jago. Stay safe❤
Halo. Apakah kartu seluler indonesia seperti telkomsel dapat sinyal di afghanistan dan iran mas tanpa roaming? jd kl ad transaksi finansial msh bs dpkai utk token transaksi

Does the ferry transports cars to the other side ,since I want to travel from Jordan to Egypt by car
Yes. But I don't know the price. You might need to check to AB Maritime directly.
