I seem to notice something: SMT III: NOCTURNE starring Dante from the devil may cry series. SMT DDS 1 And 2 and the party members as well as the human enemies and bosses they fight have their own devil trigger forms. Devil may cry 3: Dante and Vergil have devil trigger forms reminiscent of Serph and Seraph's Varna forms. I like this kind of crossover with game developers. An SMT DDS 3 Starring Nero from the devil may cry series? Highly unlikely.

Honestly I would suggest people try buying a pair of wooden bachi off amazon or something before opening and modding the drum if they're more of a newer or average player... It was a huge difference just doing that in my experience, but I don't know what a modded drum is like or an arcade drum for that matter so I really don't have anything to compare it to.

My right Ka started rapid firing on its own. I played recently and my hits wouldn't always register. Is there any way to fix this or is it junk now?

I'm actually currently playing through the game, I liked the tribvhana me personally. I kind of wished they were around longer.

I got the Hori drum about a month ago and even though I was having fun, harder songs were pretty much impossible to do even decently with how hard you had to hit the drums, so I started looking at mods. This video helped me out a ton! I got the same materials you linked in the description and today I did the mod. The don work perfectly from the start, the kas were extremely sensitive, I first used one string of 7mm which was definitely too much; I opened the drum again (which is indeed a pain) and changed the rubber to 4mm. With that the drum feels amazing! No false positives that I could notice thus far, the don is perfect and the kas while not at the same level as the don, still feel really good. I'm glad I found this video, thank you very much!

do we need to replace the foam with rubber as well? Wpuld the sens still be bad if not replaced?

so ive tried 2 pieces of rubber on the ka sensors but now it wont even register the input. Oddly enough, it saw the input with 1 piece of rubber. Would you recommend 3 pieces of foam?

Good video. Got round to doing this and this is the best video. Although sadly the KA thing just didn't seem to make any changes. So now I gotta reopen everything and go through that hell again, otherwise having a super sensitive don seems somewhat redundant if I gotta smack the edges with a ton of force. Modding this drum in general is really one of the more difficult mods I've done. Mostly just cos of the rubber pegs which are a nightmare

hi, i did this mod a few days ago and right now the only problem i have is the right ka doesn't register at all in some spots. can this be fixed by just adding some more rubber?

I never understood how ppl do drum rolls with the switch version, now it makes so much more sense.

Lol oh man I cut the strips into small pieces like you did initially instead of one long strip like you suggested right afterwards... should've watched through the whole video, curse my short attention span. Hope it's sensitive enough so I don't need to redo it again. EDIT: Nope, need to open it up again tomorrow lmao. Ka still feels really unresponsive. However my Dons are amazing, and I only put in the rubber adhesive (still waiting for my wooden plate from CitySideGig). It's past midnight here so i tested it out super lightly and even teeny taps on the Don area registered! Anyways, I am NOT looking forward to fiddling with those godawful rubber protrusions again. Gonna start out with 7mm strip to see how it feels. EDIT 2: Yep, 7mm made it miles better! The Kas actually feel responsive now. I played late at night so I didn't hit the drum too loud and it was still somewhat playable, which is pretty impressive. Will try tomorrow in the daytime to see how it feels!

Hi all, I have quite an issue. I have bought a brand new Hori drum and tried to improve the sensitivity of the don's and the ka's, following step by stem the guide with the Ikea cork pot holder for the don's and the soft black thin sticker patches for the ka's, ignoring the step with the little holes filling. I have done evrything very carefully, market the cables, taken photos,and re-assembled everything perfectly. Now, the drum is still receognized, all the buttons of the front pad area are all fully fuctionning, but... the don"s and the ka's seem to be completely dead! They aren't working at all, whatever how hard the drum is hit. I have then: first: replaced the cork pot holder and by the original foam and re-tested: same result. Then, removed all the little black soft stickers on the ka's : same result. The crazy part is that if I press the home menu, get back to the game, and press the drum don's area to exit the automatic pause menu: the don is then recognized! And it is recognized anywhere I hit, which means that, at least both left and right don"s areas aren't dead at all. But this is the only way that the don's are recognized. I can't tell for the ka's as they aren't recognized at all. I have checked the cables, connections and everything looks fine, nothing seems to be broken, damaged or touching be geeting in contact with another connection. I haved tried to re-open/test it about 5 times now. My fingers are on fire (due to the part where the top part needs to be removed) and the results are always the same. The drum is now exactly the way it was before being opened but still doesn't want to get the don's and ka's to work. Did anyone experienced something similar ? Any test/fix I could try? Thank you in advance for your help!

Hey, so I used a wooden insert as well as the rubber sheet you linked for the don area of the tatacon, and I actually had to switch back to using the harder foam with the holes in it instead of the rubber. After a few songs, the rubber had formed small indents from all the little nubs on the inside of the white vinyl/soft plastic piece and actually ended up putting dents into the pressure sensor itself. I was a bit worried that I had broken my tatacon at first because the dons had just stopped working. Turns out it was the opposite, they were constantly actuated. Luckily, my tatacon was fine, and the ka mod worked great, but I guess this shows that there is no be all end all solution to any part of this controller. There's just way too much variation on the manufacturing side. I wish they had put more care into fine tuning each of these before they got shipped out, especially considering how much they cost.

I bought a drum for 3 bucks on a flea market, I thought that it was so cheap because of the sensitivity, but it turns out I have quite the same problems everyone else has, so I might just try this mod. Now, if anyone know how to remove the smell of cat piss from the cable it might help too, it turns out that was the reason behind the price lol, it was worth it anyway.

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I was able to get my ka sensors to my desired sensitvity with 7mm on one side and 6mm on the other, which really does show how finicky each drum's sensors are. It took me 4 tries to figure out the thickness, RIP my fingers.

would this make my unresponsive drum work or is something else wrong with it because I got mine today and the right side don just stopped responding?

I say it's 2 syllables, the 'fie' & the 'yer' But you could slur it by using a sound like a short A & skipping most of the Y sound, 'făer', giving it a ⌒ feeling

Chillietoe has successfully completed the taiko mod. When doing the ka mod, I used the rubber linked in the description. I cut it so that it was a 7 mm wide strip. I lined two strips on both sides of the ka sensors. After replacing the don foam sensor and screwing everything back into place, I tested out the drum. The left side of my kas were perfect, whereas the right side was dead. I don’t know why this happened. Maybe it was my wonky placement of the strip (though i thought it was perfect), or maybe I cut the strips unevenly. I’d like to think that the latter was the cause of this, so after disassembling the drum again, I peeled off the strips, snipped some of its width down, and this time, I instead cut them into smaller pieces. I put the individual pieces against the sensors, and after reassembling for the second time, my problem was fixed. I don’t know why my right side was not picking up my hits like how the left side was. I really do think it was because I maybe didn’t cut my strip straightly, and that threw me off. But atleast in the end, i have a perfectly modded Hori (shit drum) controller. Note: i didn’t do this guy’s don mod. I bought a wooden piece from Etsy by the seller, CitySideGig (i love you jonny). I highly recommend this seller.

I cant seem to find an adhesive rubber sheet the closest i can find is adhesive magnet sheet...can I use the magnet sheet?

That ka mod took like 4 tries but finally it's good! I recommend you start with 7mm tall strip and then keep trimming all the way down to 4mm but also placing it a little lower or higher can affect the sensitivity.
