This looks really good for the time.
hey Kevin! Awesome game and i loved your article, i'll be reading it on the next Atari Newsline ;) Awesome game, and such a piece of Atari 2600 and early gaming history ;) PS I'm your 100th subscriber :D I think! haha
When he's injured he stops moving for a long time. They shall fix it
Definitely one of the best and most well-made games on the Atari 2600. What a shame it was never released.
Jungle Hunt (King) is a cakewalk compared to Tarzan.
How did you capture these? This seems super difficult to digitize.
OBS and the Emma02 emulator - all of these games were digitized off of cassette tapes that were in the RCA corporate archive, mostly held today by the Hagley Museum. Said museum has even posted them online!
@@yuberus Wow! Is this the earliest example of loading games from tape? Beating DECO by almost a full decade...
Oh it gets better, as far as I can tell the actual location-tested arcade boards and cabs used cartridges! They had the idea of the Neo Geo long before SNK did.
Makes me happy to see a lost game not only preserved but also made available for everyone to try. The first music track in particular and the sound effects are great I have to say and the game looks decently crafted too. I think this would've been a perfectly fine title to release hadn't it been for the videogame market crash.
Ahem. Yeah. You're not supposed to say mean things about the dead (games). I am trying. I did play games in the early 80s. I can see why this atrocity was never released to the market.
its just a poorly modified version of the more popular game pitfall!!
@@phoenixman8569 They have nothing in common other than jungle setting..
Looks *different* than your run of the mill mid 80s game...the use of color was like one of these eighties programmers actually knew how to format a game.
Amazing!
The music and sound fx are amazing. The whole game looks really good.
Looks like crap
Better than ET and Custer's Revenge
A miracle of a find! Such a shame this never released! Looks so cool!
I would've loved this when I was a kid!
Thanks to the collector that shared this!
That first music track is awesome. Fits the theme well.
What the heck was that at the first match?
Hibiki's blackout super has a glitch against K groove. If the super *should* do enough damage to win the round, you get the special victory animation. But putting someone into rage gives them a defensive boost, as well. So what happened here is that the defense boost was just enough to keep Morrigan alive, but since the game had already checked and decided the attack was going to kill, it put Hibiki into her special animation... allowing her to get walloped.
I recently played a working unit of this exact game at the inaugural Super Cincy Gaming Expo. It was the original 1975 unit that wasn't restored yet played effortlessly.
We need to find a way to get The Ultimate DOOM to run on Channel F.
Hey can i use part of your clip?
Go for it
love how the ghosts look like sideways 8's after they get eaten... "STOP THOSE EIGHTS!! THE EIGHTS ARE GETTING AWAY!!"
Wow! Amazing for the time, I'm sure. The Channel F is one system I know almost nothing about.
Also, is this emulated, or is this a capture from a real Bally? I've been interested in it since 8-Bit Show and Tell brought his out to play with. Really interesting device, the fact that the BASIC cartridge also contained the cassette interface was quite a cool hack!
That's the original hardware, yep! I recorded a whole bunch of footage for my history documentary on the Atari Archive channel.
Is that graphic on screen the encoded music? It sort of seems to follow the music, but I can't quite tell how it's encoded.
It is! the last bit of the song overwrites the top part of the graphic before playing.
Thanks for making a short video of this game. I also enjoyed your detailed background for your video's description. Thanks for typing this one in so that others like me could enjoy playing it too. Hopefully one day the Astrocade emulator in MAME will support loading 300-BAUD Bally BASIC games.
this looks like a terrible game. some kind of upscale from atari 2600
This game was a big deal. It was just like the coin op and surely better than the Atari or other consoles.
Interesting
This one plays better than the ATARI E.T.
is this a space invaders clone?
Intentional or not is hard to say, but it follows the general idea of Space Invaders, though with radically different movement and objectives.
Man, you would think they would start out at a slow or medium speed and then go from there but this starts out at maximum speed and increases!
In my defense I did set the game to the hardest mode!
@@yuberus This game holds two distinctions. First, it is probably the first game that had a female protagonist. Second, it was one of the first video games created by a female back in the day.

AHAHAHAH this game is shit!!! atari jaguar.....oh my god.....ahahsdh!!
I like the quirky Jaguar, but this is beyond brutal.
Looks home brew, if this was really for the arcade. I can see why it was not released. Reminds me of blue lightning for jag CD.
"Where did you learn to drive?" could be the next "Where did you learn to fly?"
Best game on the Astrocade!
Great Channel F game!
I remember getting this one as a kid. I think Zircon had bought out the Channel F stuff by this time and released a handful of new games. Great stuff!!
Great channel! Bringing back a lot of Bally Arcade and Odyssey 2 memories. Thanks for posting all these vids.
nice matches
You wrote a good description for this video. I'm glad to see that you have typed in a previously unavailable-to-load, 300-baud program for Bally BASIC. I know that this is just a RAW, preliminary video without commentary, but it was still fun to watch a game being played that probably hasn't been played in 40 years. It's a nice touch that you get to watch as the ships fire at each other. The laser sound effect is quite good, although it's a bit long. There is a nice, ground-shaking roar when a Klingon ship is destroyed. It's too bad that this doesn't have more of a graphical interface, but then again this was written for a BASIC that only had access to 1.8K of RAM and it isn't Atari's Star Raiders!
hey... so I'm here from your "TIM FOLLIN IS A GOD" playlist and i was wondering if you could add the time trax title theme (60hz or 50hz... one is more action sounding while the othe sounds more laid back) gauntlet 3 title theme and both the plok boss music and rocket launcher theme? you vid is kinda neat seeing this old program running.
Detroit Legends!
Heck yeah! Wonder what TKK is up to these days? Would love to get some online cvs2 matches going with him.

Is there a place I can get the rom for this ? I need it to add to my new pacman compare video.
I think it might have been released by the author on Atariage - I think his username is e5frog.
