Radar detector is merely a broad band receiver that responds when it detects any signal in the frequency range of radar, burglar alarms, motion detectors and microwave ovens. VA is all hot to trot about them but fails to recognize that they prevent accidents. What happens when the radar detector goes off? You suddenly become alert and more aware of your surrounds. But they have no way, in their short-sighted thinking, to count all the accidents that didn't happen. They just want your money.

They must consider radar detectors speeding paraphernalia. What a joke. As a former cop I never cared about radar detectors. By the time they would detect me I already had them locked in. Of course that was back in the 90’s, they probably have better detectors now.

I dont see how its legal for cops to be searching just based off a hunch theres a radar detector in the truck. Theres no way on earth I would be ok with cops searching my car. I would be remaining silent, politely tell the cops I have nothing to say without a lawyer present.

How sad is it that gathering revenue for speeding isn’t sufficient enough, so Virginia has to resort to stealing money for MONITORING radio waves? A detector isn’t a jammer. And honestly, I run a radar detector more for safety than speeding, as I tend to monitor my speed much more frequently when the detector is on, especially in small towns.

The one thing I fear about a dirty filthy KKKop is they can plant drugs on you, or make up anything. So by using a stupid radar detector excuse, just because it made his instrument beep, means he is a dirty filthy KKKop looking for an excuse. He most likely was born wicked, his mother and father both sides are wicked, he comes from a wicked bloodline. No excuse for a human, you need to be careful, look, check it out, he was even unzipping his personal bags. A DOT stop can only go so far, that is it. He has all the authority he needs to run a DOT exam, inspection, etc., but they are not allowed in your personal property, this is the sign of a dirty, evil, filthy corrupt KKKop. I was pulled over hauling produce, with a reefer on, coming out of L.A, north of Victorville, I actually thought I was out of Victorville city limits, and a Victorville city police is parked on the side facing the traffic, one of the few times due to the summer season I brought my wife and son with me, I see him he was checking me out "Oh a wetback in a truck" Better stop him, actually I am Lakota but brown skinned with dark braid (being stereotyped) so I pulled over, I watched in the mirror as he approached hand on the gun in the holster. Jumps up to the window, and gave my wife a visual inspection, and my son peeked out the back which made him freak. He had trouble written all over him, he asked, so I gave him all info, ID, and Insurance, and had logs and permit book ready, when suddenly a CHP pulled up, and joined him but asked him what was going on? This is his territory big trucks are a DOT issue. They backed away out of hearing range, but he Officer WicKKKed returned, on the passenger side, asked my wife and son out of the truck, and ordered them sit on a little embankment. Ordered me out, and without asking began searching my truck for drugs and what ever, soon a drug canine unit showed up, and in the meantime, the CHP officer took me up front off the highway and began friendly communicating with me, as we waited. The evil KKKop pulled him away and I heard him say, he knows I have something, I am shaking and sweating all over, he knows it. They walked the canine all around the trailer, under it, called me to the trailer door asked me to unlock it, I looked at the CHP while at the same time agreeing to unlock the padlock, "but" I have a seal on it, I have a temperature gauge inside placed by the shipper. The CHP officer jumped in and told the city KKKop, look I have been here with you more than thirty minutes no counting how long you had them before I came, so I will be patient and allow you one more go around, if you don't find anything I will need a jurisdictional statement of probable cause filled out by you. He, Officer WicKKKed, gave me a death glare and explained, he was sure I was up to no good, by how nervous, and shaky I was acting. The CHP officer said, "I have been here communicating, having a conversation with him, for the entire time, you took advantage of him, while his wife and son sat patiently in the hot sun, I have not seen any sign of stress on him at all, he has displayed a courteous, patient, obedient behavior while submitting the entire duration of your hyped up behavior, and now if you are finished, I am assuming jurisdiction and it is now time, over due, to allow him and his family to leave and be on their way. The mad KKKop reluctantly returned my documents back and the CHP apologized and said have a safe trip. The wicked KKKop displayed a spoiled brat attitude and didn't offer an apology, as him and the canine unit returned to their vehicles. There are good officers and wicKKKed KKKops out there. A wicked KKKop starts out with a lie immediately about why he pulled you over, and stopped, and from that time on, your life and freedom lays in his wicKKKed hands.

​@rods.3245 Rob, you make a valid point _ I think you're saying, speed isn't the problem, it's the human managing it which is one way of looking at the problem, if I'm correct. However, from my perspective, and as someone, whose livelihood is driving all hours of the day and night; going too fast or exceeding the posted speed limit kills. I live in Tucson, Arizona where we have a very high incidence of pedestrian and cyclists fatalities, particularly, at night because Tucson is an exceptionally dark city. Most deaths are transients crossing the streets without any regard for their personal safety. They think, just because they see our headlights the driver can see them. The reason I go under the speed limit is for that very reason, because the moment you see them, you have time to slow down or avoid them all together. It's the people who are speeding who don't see them until it's too late. So speed does kill, because it robs the time a driver needs to spare somebody's life. Thank you for your response. Steve

What people don’t understand is how much this costs drivers when they are pulled over for “inspections” and most of the time the driver has done nothing wrong, the police and DOT will pull you over for no reason other than they feel like it. This should be illegal, there are inspection stations that do this safely they are callled weigh stations and this should be the only place that trucks are inspected. Doing a inspection on the side of the road puts the Driver in danger and the Public around them. When a driver has to stop at every whim of a police officer and DOT the driver loses money by not being able to get to their pick up and delivery, every load is on a tight schedule. I know I did this for 25 years over the road, and I’m so glad I’m retired now.
