Can you still do this without a case press?
Nice build, I am assuming the case was from aliexpress or something similar? Unfortunately regulating to the wrong lift angle will make all that work in the regulation off slightly. BTW I really like that explorer on the wrist!

Very nice work you do. This watch looks great! Do you or any subscribers have any experience blacking out a non laminated logo on a watch dial to sterilize it? I'm thinking maybe a paint pen from hobby lobby and testing a second marker right of the date wheel. Any help or suggestions would be very appreciated. Regards, George

What source do you recommend to determine which hands, chapter rings,etc and what will fit what . Thanks again and keep up the nice work!
Hi, sorry for the late response! At least for Seiko modding, most of the community / parts are built around the 7S / NH / NE movement platforms, and all the parts from Seiko mod part suppliers will specificy, they are all interchangeable! Hands and dials will be for all of the movements, and other parts such as cases, crystals, bezels, crowns will be specific to the case design.

Lug to lug is 48.6mm on this one.
What is the length you cut the stem to? May I ask
Unfortunately I'm not sure what length, I just kept cutting / filing until the length was correct.
Didn't understand at 15:38 how do you know you aligned it correctly to place the bezel?
I just locked the bezel against the stop by turning it clockwise slightly and aligned the insert with the dial by eye.

i have a weird problem with my mod - if i screw the caseback in to what feels like normal tightness or even a little loose, the second hand stops moving. what would cause that? could i be missing the crystal gasket? does the skx013 HAVE a crystal gasket?
Sounds like your second hand is touching the crystal, make sure it it's pressed down all the way and isn't angled up above the pinion.
@@theescapementmodding Turned out to be exactly that btw - the seconds hand wasn't clicked into place properly so it was touching the glass. Thanks

I have never modded before, but I caved in to my curiosity and desire to learn new skills. Watching this gives me confidence and inspiration to tackle this. I was originally going to replace the crystal on my SKX011J. Ended up adding a bunch of parts to my cart and then ended up with an entirely new watch, with absolutely nothing from the original SKX hahahah. I have my tool set with a press on the way as well. Any tips on ensuring perfect as can be dial alignment? How fragile is it?
Hi! The one thing that's most important is to make sure you start it straight. If you have a cheap crystal press, press the crystal all over, not just in one spot, rotate the watch so that every time you press more it goes in straight. The SKX crystals aren't fragile due to being diver's crystals (they're pretty thick), so as long as your pressing die isn't way too small you shouldn't worry about that too much. Let me know how it goes!

Does this dial fit in an SKX013?
It will with a thin chapter ring, such as one from Lucius Atelier or Namoki.

At 1:52 you can see the rubber strap getting flipped LOL I think you need a proper strap for it, like a Monstrap or CrafterBlue
Haha yeah, I accept pushed it a bit when I was turning the bezel, it would never do that under normal wear. I would definitely prefer a CB / Monstrap / Rubber B but I can't believe nobody makes a curved end strap for the 007!
