Our greatest and most loyal allies. We love our Gurkha brothers.
Through DNA testing, I learned one of my ancestors was Guardafia of the Guanches, They live on in me and others. Learning their body types were tall and slender made me so happy being 6'4" and a slender build. Both my father and mother have north african dna in them, though my father is higher being from the canary islands. It's beautiful reading these comments and seeing others from all over sharing the same sentiment. May we make our ancestors proud.
Augustus could have saved himself a lot of trouble by not interfering with the Armenian succession in the first place🙂
Dang right
We studies in history that the built minarets and walls with human skulls, burned and destroyed everything on their way
I just listened to the part about Cleopatra Selene. Knew about her and that she became queen somewhere but that was about it. Thanks for making such a detailed account of her. Will watch the rest later🙂
Thanks for putting XI first🕷. One of the best kings of France period. You anticipated hate for putting XIV🌞 that "low", but I think he is actually a bit too high. You already mentioned some of his issues, but he also withdrew the Edict of Nantes that protected Protestants, causing them to flee and take their wealth and networks straight to France's enemies. I would put XII a little higher. He lowered taxes and was called "father of the people" . Not too shabby a name🙂 I think VIII was called "the Lion", not "the Lionheart". His wife Blanch of Castile did a great job at the start of their son's reign, protectimg him and the power of the monarch against rebellious noblemen. Funny detail: she was handpicked by Eleanor of Aquitaine to become the next French Queen, who crossed the Pyrenees at the age of 80 to come fetch her.
My own father served in the 3rd Gorkha Rifles and fought in the Kargil War. Grandfather served during the Burmese retreat and great-grandfather saw action in Gallipoli. I believe had the allied troops consisted entirely of Gurkhas, the Dardanelles would have been taken. I myself had poor eyesight and bad molars so couldn't make it through the recruitment process, the recruiter said "if we put a rifle on your hand you'll shoot our own instead of the enemy". In Afghanistan a single Gurkha sentry repulsed an attack of 30 Taliban. In WW2, a position manned by 3 Gurkhas held off against 200 Japanese. Legend has it that during the Anglo Nepal war, an injured Gurkha showed up to the British camp seeking medical help. After he received treatment he asked to be allowed to leave and rejoin the fight. Baffled at his audacity and straightforwardness it is said the Brits actually let him go instead of taking him prisoner. Immediately after the war came to a close and hostilities ceased the Brits were recruiting Gurkhas in droves. That's how the Gurkha regiments started. Whatever followed is history.
Thank you
Good video as always but i really wish you wouldn't heart comments spreading misinformation when you put so much work into your vidoes
I hear that, just trying to make sure everyone knows that I read their comment
@@StoicHistorian I get that brother you make great content and that's all that matters anyways
As an Armenian, I hope that our neighbors in Azerbaijan keep watching those kinds of videos and try reading genuine history books to learn about the Armenian long and rich history. The people of Azerbaijan are brainwashed by the Dictatorship regime which is spreading misleading and false information about Armenia and Armenians and teaching hatred and racism against the peaceful Armenian people solely to stay in power.
Llanark / Llanlithgow are two examples of the Welsh (Cumbric / britonic) languages in play today, in an around the Glasgow area. The double LL’s were dropped in modern times. If anyone ever wondered why the Glasgow accent is so much harsher, and noticeably unique amongst Scottish accents? It’s due to the Welsh influence. William Wallace? Wallace means Welshman. 🏴🏴 don’t tell Independence activists this information though. They will crumble if they found out that Scotlands most populated area were 1) Britons 2) Saxons in Edinburgh 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️🇬🇧
There’s definitely a lot of Africans in Georgia. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen any evidence of Vikings.
I’m half Cuban and around 12 percent Guanche. My father is around a quarter. Most of my lineage is from Central Cuba via the Canary Islands. This is still a significant amount, to be honest. I think it's cool I never knew much about North Africa or anything about it until I started to learn more about the Spanish conquest of the Americas.
When reading the title, I thought "I hope it's 'Georgia' the country, not 'Georgia' the state!"
Gurkhas were inferior in men, supplies and arms & ammunition as compared to sikhs in Anglo Sikh war

Great video! I'm hoping you can help me out with something though. I noted that you stated that Houston supported ending Texas slavery. Where did you find this info? I've done a little research on Sam Houston and I guess I've missed this. That's a fascinating point, so if you can guide me toward the sources I'd appreciate it. Keep up the good work!
He was a pretty much a staunch abolitionist his whole life and especially after he entered politics. You can find this info in his farewell address after his first presidency as well as many other accounts that hunt at his feelings towards slavery
@@StoicHistorian as much as I want to get on board with this I'm struggling with it. Wasn't Houston himself a slaveholder ? I know that he did oppose the Kansas-Nebraska Act and later refused to join Texas in secession, but from everything I've seen and read it seems that those decisions were more closely linked to his interest in the union than in opposing slavery. He was, after all, a leader of a republic, which made a point to include passages in their Constitution to make it difficult for any kind of national action to be taken against slavery. I'll need to find his farewell address to look at it a little more closely. That might make things a little more clear.
@@johnctatum3999 it’s been awhile since I’ve learned anything about Sam Houston, if you find out anything interesting lmk!! It’s a good point to make that because he was in the Democratic Party he couldn’t fully oppose slavery as much as someone like Abe Lincoln could due to politics. But when the civil war happened he did attempt to not join the confederates which I believe really shows something
Viking is stupid name. Use rather Norman because they was men from north. There were mens from Finland, Estonia, Latvia, north Russia.
Nepal not being afraid of the results 😂
Interesting story, but, it's just another Caucasian story. The Vikings wrote down their visits to America and they have the books and map's. Nice try though! czcams.com/video/Vnlwdd5JFEs/video.htmlsi=BfXzdO5urB4E7dDc

Why are you using generative ai on your shorts? Especially what appears to be midjourney, the thiefiests of them all. I have decided not to support generative ai or those who use it in anyway so seeing your shorts is leaving me in a bind. As once i see someone use ai imagery its not much of a stretch to assume that creator will also use LLM on their scripts which i am really against. I like your stuff and Iv not seen you use ai in your regular content, wouldn’t follow you otherwise. So why use it here? Really cheapens your generally quality content
It’s just much easier and more mainstream for shorts I feel. I apologize would never use them in a real vid

i just discovered your channel and it’s awesome, your videos are very informative and discuss parts of history that aren’t widely known about this is the best video i’ve seen on the history of the spanish conquest of the canary islands. thanks man!
i am currently staying in gran canaria and i hiked to pico de la nieves on the way there i met a spanish man who told me all about the history of the guanche and the rulers and ‘menceys’ of the islands on the way to the summit i visited a museum named mundo aborigen which shows the details of guanche life by constructing a guanche town. it is such a shame the guanche way of life and history has been forgotten by history
Ozbekiston has such a rich history
Prince Paul is still a controversial figure in Serbia. After reading about him I concluded he was not a traitor nor a fascist sympathizer. He tried to protect the fragile Kingdom from occupation and rightfully did not trust the British.

The original population of Georgia, the Colchis (ergisis) were black Africans, hence the black curly hair and black curly hair hats to mimic African hairstyles. ❤
this is objectively false, not surprising to see a Russian spreading misinformation on Georgia, but the proto Georgian civilization of Egirisi weren't black, as evident by the description of colchians by both ancient Greeks and ancient armenians, neither of which describe the colchians as black, there is only one cource of this by heroditus saying they were black however it is specultated by many historians that he never visited colchis in the first place, the ancient Greeks before him we came to colchis said there werent any back people there. People of the South Caucasus and the Mediterranean have been known to have curly hair, this isnt a pure african trait
@@Lazika617 because you see a name spelled in Cyrillic, you immediately assume that the individual is a Russian?! Ha ha ha Exactly the ancient Greeks describe the Colhians as black. you can take all your BS somewhere else and keep it there . You should read more, a lot more,.... a lot more
@@yanina.korolko its you who needs to read much more, the only single source that made this claim has been debunked by many historians as a false claim, while ancient Greeks that came far before Herodotus like Jason did not describe colchians to be black, this is easily disproven if you did more then 5 minutes of research, which you clearly didnt
@@Lazika617 ancient Greeks that came? Not even "who came"? who were the ancient Greeks who came "far" before ...? Jason? You're quoting a mythological hero! Take care do not bother commenting. I will not answer again.
@@yanina.korolko shows me how uneducated you truly are, obviously the mythology and myths were legends, but such a figure did exist and did indeed sail to colchis at this time, thats where the myth came from originally, where the tale of the golden fleece originated due to the people there using sheepskin to separate gold from the dirt in the streams and rivers, these tales and stories that were romanticized off of real life, the characters in the greek mythology - Medea who was from colchis, isnt shown to be black based off the ancient iconography of her we can clearly see she wasnt black. All this and the fact you havent responded to the any of the points I made, dont leave like a coward and make a proper response.
Julius Ceaser saw Vikings in boats sail past the Roman galleons in port in Alexandria, Egypt. He wrote about it. And he ordered his ships to pursue. Roman ships could make about 3 knots. The Viking boats made about 11 knots. Much faster. He even described the men as having long hair and beards. Blonde and red in color. At 11 knots the Vikings on a direct line out of the Mediterranean Sea could have, possibly made North America in 2 weeks. Plus many islands, currents, winds etc would have been of great help. The Vikings knew the Earth and had a form of latitude and longitude. They knew their position and where they were and, where they were going.
He must have been a time travellar then?
Julius Ceaser didn't see Vikings. He wrote about the German tribe peoples of the time, as well as the Celtic peoples of Gaul and Britain at the time
Too early for that name, but being descendants of the people of Atlantis did have hidden perks.
