Don't row boat the throttle so much, let the reverse control your speed, your fireman will appreciate it.
Rolling Coal in a diesel steam train. At least 216 wasn't dropping hot embers on everything.
Beautiful ❤.
Great job on details video 👍👍👍
Why is she smoking so bad at the end?
The engine is working hard at that point. It is an oil burning engine and it is hard to keep up sometimes.
@@Conductordave Yeah, i imagine they need quite a lot of steam. I'm just not used to see oil burning locomotives with such an impressive ammount! Maybe the fuel was a bad batch?
Awesome!!!!
Thanks!!
Nice work, Dave.
Many thanks!
Beautiful Filming and Video Capture !! Thank YOU for sharing !!!
Shovel 10 ton a day and see how you like it haha
Outstanding video and thanks for sharing. Dave
OH WOW! This 2-8-2 steam engine #484 has the same exact whistle as Nickel Plate Road’s Lima 2-8-2 #587 and the 600 series NKP 2-8-2s
No it does not. It has an unknown manufacturer 5 chime whistle. Possibly custom built by D&RG shop crews.
One of my two favorite railroads!
Very nice video, likes from me !
Thank you very much!
What a masterpiece. Nice job Dave
Watching this I’m just wondering why they didn’t have some form of gravity feed mechanism that delivered the coal into the firebox, from the bunker. Maybe a longer bunker compartment, with an inclined base? Moot point now, but this method seems inefficient? Apologies if I’m wrong!
The coal has to be put in very specific spots in the firebox to keep the fire burning evenly, and just dumping the coal in wouldn’t be accurate enough.
they did in fact have alternatives to hand-firing, especially on larger engines: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mechanical_stoker However even on those, hand bombing was still required to reach back corners. As the above person said there's much more to it than just dumping fuel on the fire: the bed needs to be even over the grate for proper combustion and heat transfer
im watching this video. in 1924 my grandfather was hired on southern railway as a fireman. wow he had his work cut out for him. jan 1951 he was promoted to engineer
Подустал браток!
Love the hat.
Congratulations!
How fun. Hope you went the River Walk.
Glad to see you’re back man!!
That was awesome. I hope you get to do more of that and then become an engineer!
Awesome! It takes time. I'm sure I'd suck at my first day too! LOL :P The pros make it look so damn easy!
Good stuff David, keep at it and one step at a time.
Awesome, love this David!
Nice
Wow
I think I may have been running the locomotive when this was filmed. Thank you!
Cool song to go with the awesome locomotive I love.
I love the 2-8-0 # 1147 and the freight set!
What a great restoration of the freight cars. They look ready to start re earning revenue money right now! WOW. LOVE THE CAR on the dirt rural road...IN THE PHOTO!!!

Colorado has the most fascinating steam engines in my opinion.
Yes they do!
To bad there's no sound of the engine working.
Ya sorry about that. The drone I use doesn’t record sound
@Conductor Dave great video, after riding and going thru fireman school out there, the beauty of the engines working is very enjoyable. It doesn't hurt to be able to fire and run a locomotive back home either.
Nice ambiance!

Very well done!
Isn't there alot of added sugar in your chocolate milk? That would be counterproductive to using Lean as a weight loss tool.
I love that video.
Thank you so much!
