Gilles' freestyle cost him the title. Carrianne said it "I expected more dancing". Cheryl messed up her choreography for Gilles in the end. Too bad!

As much as I loved the amazing work of Shawn and Mark, I absolutely HATED that they were dancing in the same season as Cheryl and Gilles. Hated. It. Wanted there to be a first-ever tie like you wouldn't believe... _especially_ after this smokin' hot tango.

One major plus for Shawn (which haven't seen anyone mention)was her ability to utilize the flowing dresses to lengthen her compact muscular body. At the time of Season 8 Shawn was the youngest person to be on DWTS. Bindi Irwin Aly Raisman Laurie Hernandez and Simone Biles were still several seasons away.

Gilles should have won season 8 & Shawn should have won the All-Stars. Melissa was really great too though & I'm happy Tony at least got 1 mirrorball trophy.

Still the best
For me this is still the best Argentine Tango. The Drama and the acting from both Cheryl and Giles what makes this dance is special
Many people are now saying that last week's AT by Jana and Gleb is the sexiest on DWTS record, but they need to go back and watch this one. Cheryl could not have done a better job of choreographing this dance to the music and to Gille's strengths as an actor. I don't think any AT will ever supercede this one as the steamiest and best AT ever on DWTS.
Bophrey Humgart couldn't agree more. They don't need any props to be sexy. This is still the best and the sexiest Argentine Tango on DWTS for me. For me Giles still the best contestant ever and yes he was robbed!
She was always going to win this. The ballet training she had as part of her gymnastics coaching, coupled with an elite gymnast's co-ordination and sense of self in relation to the space around them, gave her a massive advantage over the other competitors straight out of the gate. Add in her superhuman physical conditioning to the fact she was America's sweetheart at the time, it was a foregone conclusion.

This was only week 4 for this non-dancer. And this dance is still up there with the best of DWTS.
Is it my imagination or did he miss a few steps at about 2:30?
no i think what happened was that for whatever reason her leg wasn't flexible enough to swivel on the spot in the gaucho. She needed to whip her free leg around his body and she was struggling so he had to adjust his stance to allow her to get out of it.
I think Gilles just edges out Mario Lopez as the best male contestant the show has ever seen because if he had an ego, he kept in check, whereas Mario seemed to think he could do whatever he wanted in a dance and apologize for it afterwards.
This one is still the gold standard by which all other DWTS Argentine Tangoes should be compared. Cheryl Burke is and always has been amazing and one of the best pros ever on DWTS.
Stil smokin' after all these years! And still the best AT of all the seasons. There doesn't seem to be any limit to how many times I can watch this and feel the heat coming off of that couple. Amazing. I think many people have forgotten just amazing Cheryl Burke was because the produces started sticking her with dud after dud in the last several seasons. She deserved better.
Of all of the final three/four couples that have competed, these three are still my favorites, although my favorite winners are Meryl and Maks. I found it odd that only Mark was able to craft a free style that earned all 10's, and it is likely that dance that won them the trophy. Otherwise, I think any of the three could easily have won.
I think it's hilarious how some people go on and on about how fantastic they think she was with Derek. Who do they think taught her to be such a terrific dancer????

Ugh...this man. I am a sucker for tall, dark and handsome with gorgeous lashes and oozing confidence...and he has all of it. He would make me super nervous standing beside me let alone dancing with me. So fine...oh my gash.
