4x4 Guided Tour Collie River - Wellington Dam (Palmer Rd Entry) 2 River, Drivability & Fresh Fishing
As mentioned, please considered subscribing to the channel as soon as we reach 500 we are doing a give-away with a full list including the following and more: Variety of Tackle, Sinkers, Large number of Lures for both fresh & saltwater fishing, Rod, 1L 4WDetail Specalist Combo kit to clean your 4x4, 4WD basic recovery kit with more to be added soon and bigger when we reach 1k.
During this trip we visit Black Diamond Lake Briefly, then come in to Wellington Forest Area from Palmer road from Collie side on opposite side of Collie River. We move inland along the road parallel to the river as number of spots that are easy access to camp at even with AWD vehicles and campers/caravans.
I wanted to visit a previous camping location and enjoy the challenge of the hill descent, which can be difficult but can be safely done with care and time. Although it may not seem so in the video it is rather steep and in the wet can be dangerous with deep gutters and trenches that can slip into if not placed correctly.
I try to show all the descent so can see it if you decide but if you prefer not to do so, can go to right at fork then you'll have the easier route. This is parallel to the river but it sometimes comes with mud holes, trees over the tracks you need to go around so always good to check.
We explore the river front towards Collie and then back towards the Dam direction before setting up camp on the outcrop. I scout the track and find the missing location I had missed after some fun driving but unfortunately wasn't recording this section. Usually good fishing in the cold winter on the river for Redfin, Trout, both up stream and down stream.
Look forward to exploring it again, it is a great place and so many tracks and can often be easy to get lost so be aware when going in.

    • @wafishing4x4
      @wafishing4x4 Před 11 měsíci

      Is it earthed to the metal frame of your vehicle? Your vehicle manual should tell you where it has specific earth points that you can use to confirm if it is functioning. If possible, I'd troubleshoot by checking each connection if you have cable lengths for each point of connection. I'm not a full bottle on the various UHFs, but mine didn't have static. You should get local channels and hear people if you live in the city.

      I initially ran it to Metal frame behind the glove box to check it works and tested to see if much difference between that and than earth point in engine bay which wasn't much. But may not always be the case, so you can run earth lead back via same route as antenna wire, into engine bay and earth it to point in engine bay.

    Hey mate, love the review. Your 2 videos on this tent have helped me swing away from the kings one, which have so many mixed reviews, a lot negative. Couple of questions, how did it go in the rain ect? Any issues with condensation? And also, a known issues with the kings one is the flooring bubbling and creaking. Any issues with that on this?

    • @wafishing4x4
      @wafishing4x4 Před rokem

      Thanks for comment, always appreciated and hope I earned a subscriber as result. I am biased when comes to Kings, due to negative experiences so I tend to steer away unless it's something on cheaper end or happy if get use for certain time until it gives out and lot comes down to their warranty process which is ridiculous and can be super frustrating. I personally have had issues with condensation, when it has rained if possible I leave it up if next day is not raining to try dry it out, but I've also put it back away wet, forgot to open it up after the trip for quite a few days and when I did no issues. Although I'd still encourage to open it up after rain if opportunity is available whenever possible to make sure get best life out of it. No bubbling at all to the floor, it's still as good as new after I think a year, or least almost a year with plenty of use. The only creaking or noise is as I get in, it puts weight on folded out part until it sets in place and while I sleep it's mostly the my vehicles suspension that moves as I do. It's been solid for me, the only thing I've changed is adding a memory foam mattress as I find original a little thin for my preferences being a side sleeper it places pressure on hip and shoulder. The most noise you'll ever get is wind against the tent, that's been only thing I like to address. Hope it helpful for you and get out and enjoy. Any other questions, feel free to ask as happy to help.

      It's hard to fit it all in with time but I also don't want to miss important bits. You won't have an issue, on this trip had 2, 200 series and it wasn't a problem. Long as you take the main provided track out which is easy to follow its always good as plenty of 4WDs are using them too. Off shot tracks as you head can be a problem if you wanted to explore paths but main trek all way from entry to exit is great. Hopefully Warren is also really accommodating.

    Great video! How does your tonneau soft cover still work with the ozroo tub mount? Did you have to alter it?

    • @wafishing4x4
      @wafishing4x4 Před rokem

      Thanks, hope it helped and earnt a subscriber from you :). Yeah I did slightly as it has gaps where the old bars were, and the mounting brackets I had to cut it slightly so it fit around them. But in general it works, with only downside being gaps for water ingress. So I have had a new tonneau cover made that goes over tubrack to make use of the extra height which clips onto tub and has zippers, both side and back. Not too expensive being around $1300ish and its all waterproof so maybe worth considering.

  • @williamhoughton5051

      Thanks for the comment and watching the video. I've been using it I think roughly same time. I do find as I have a back issue it can be pressure discomfort on my hips as I lay down on my side. So I'll be changing my current one with a custom memory foam style, so you get more cushion between yourselves and the base. Unfortunately every RTT have same style mattresses so it's something you generally have to do out of pocket for. But I'll let you know my cost quoted if you like to help. I do like it as RTT brand and features, with mattress being my only thing I wish to personally change.

    Hey mate I'm also looking at doing this to my Triton, with the tonneau rails, mine run the entire length of the tray, did you have to cut your existing rails down and re install to make them fit? Just want to know the best way for going about it, as I want to keep my soft tonneau cover underneath the racks,

    • @wafishing4x4
      @wafishing4x4 Před rokem

      Yeah to fit the originally back I had to cut the aluminium rails that are pop riveted onto the tray as it doesn't fit. I was just really carefully taking the off so I could reuse it all so I could use pop riveted holes as well as the sticky substance that keeps it stuck to the tub on the top so be careful, slow and steady lifting them up once pop rivets are out. Simple angle grinder and works fine when put it back together. Front and rear you don't need to touch which us good. I'm actually booking in to get canvas cover to go over the tubrack as a whole, so it's one completely waterproof as had issues with gaps and also make use of extra height. Has zippers on back and both sides and is costing me about $1300 and that's with canvas cover being clipped onto the similar rails so looks neat rather than the elastic bands that hold it down onto little bits that are put into side of the tray. So thought I'd mention it in case you ever thought it for yourself that it's possible and looks good.

      You can adjust it in two areas by a certain amount, that being up and down in height (which isn't much) and sideways, one piece has a hole and the other is same diameter but cut long ways so you can adjust the width by bits to make sure it fits your tub.

      I wondered the same thing as the hooks drop low as moves in water. You can only screw soft plastic onto centre, but I have cut some plastics and put it on the hooks to help. Whether that works or they are just smashing it regardless I'm not sure.

    Can I use a polymer knot to make my own snells

    • @wafishing4x4
      @wafishing4x4 Před 2 lety

      I've been meaning to Redo these again, these were my very first and I didn't even have proper camera and video editor setup. Simple answer is no, you need the Snell wraps around the hook to be uniform and polymer would make it impossible. I tend towards polymer as for all smaller things like smaller hooks, swivels clips etc. And use others if it's too long

    nice video mate, im heading up to the shark bay area at the start of august, i was thinking of going to herald bight for 3 or 4 days, what the best spot for fishing in your opinion thats north of denham?

    • @wafishing4x4
      @wafishing4x4 Před 2 lety

      It's stunning place mate, everything in Francois Peron is worth at least checking out. Herald Bight always delivers when tide comes in, so many fish you can't go wrong anywhere. Just down the beach a little is perfect near some bushes is good. It's good as can drive onto it and no wind issues, but Cape itself you can park and walk down too. It has some deep gutters that has produced bigger fishing so if wind is right it's another option north of Denham those were my two preferred spots.

    Hi mate, I was just wondering weather you have any issues with wind getting under the cover at highway speeds leaving the holes in the taunea cover. Have just installed a tub rack on my triton and want to leave the cover on

    • @wafishing4x4
      @wafishing4x4 Před 2 lety

      Hi Mate, no issues with the holes with holes with soft cover from high speeds. I do find heavy rain can be an issue some getting into tray with soft cover on. For a sort term fix I've duct taped the holes from where bars were, it stays on for ages before I need to change. Long term I'm getting mine fixed, but short term you can make do. So no definitely nothing with my soft cover at speeds with tub rack on for me and I've had it for many months now and taken on many 4x4 trips too.

    50km west of Northcliffe, another great guided video ! Glad you warned people about the high tide coming up the beach - it is so flat, while it looks like a huge wide beach, because it is so flat, the high tide comes up a long way. LOTS of 4x4 beach driving here - far better than north of Perth I reckon.

      Cheers mate. Yeah when we rocked up just before night and we camped back, I saw it at high tide and not much left in some areas. It's great run on the low and getting back out, but it's one I can see people getting caught out in if not aware. I agree, so much great beaches. I plan to explore more of the more along the coast line as I can as time goes and I get time.
